  1. Welcome to OCR. This isn't a terrible first remix on here. It suffers from a normal array of production problems, but the arrangement is actually fun, in a minimalist way (though the end is a little strange, along with a similar ditty in the middle). Clipping. Loads and loads of clipping. If you want to fix it you'll need to go to each track and make sure that the input signal isn't too loud first, then find where that track is routed and make sure that from there it isn't too loud, etc., until you reach your final mixer board. You can tell a track is too loud when there is 'fuzz' that occurs with the sound and/or the track cuts out other tracks (which there is a lot of in this track). I like the soundscape to this one, actually, but you have some work ahead of you when it comes to the production. When you fix the production issues you'll be ahead of the game, here. Best of luck here, and welcome to OCR.
  2. Aha, now you've rolled into my neck of the woods. Feel my fury Giving this a quick glance, the album has a nice consistency to it, though it does wear on me a little bit after a while (I'm the sort of person that likes a touch of variety). The MIDI enhancements are nice, overall, though it perhaps could have used a couple of different instruments from track to track (or less, oddly enough - a piano covering both the bass and the melodies/harmonies would've made a nice bonus track). Some of the tracks (Marble Garden comes to mind) are a touch off from the source, but that's an issue with the MIDI, so you can take it up with John Weeks. I remember commenting on that particular issue some time ago, too, so... yeah. It's still a fun little album for what it is, though. As long as you're not going into it and expecting a remix album but a straight re instrumentation of preset MIDIs then it's not bad. Hope others around here enjoy it. Also, 'sup.
  3. Aaahahaha... I didn't think you'd post the same track twice (I did the last two years, but it only went through once ). Now that I think about it, this'll be weird, not working on a Rama request. Every time before this I got your request .
  4. Sorry about the delay from my end - I've seriously been out of town for the last half of this month (and for the last week, completely disconnected from the internet). I accepted the challenge. Sorry for the tardy reply. EDIT: Haaa, I just saw Gumshoe's theme in there. That was a fun track to remix a couple years back - wonder what Eilios will do with it.
  5. Happy Tau day. I mean, happy birthday, Willrock and Flik.
  6. That was an issue months ago, bro. And for those that want to 'game the system', box.net is the way to go. Not that I've ever done anything of the sort (at least not yet).
  7. Hmm... I'm in the Los Angeles area, Nobuo Uematsu is my primary influence and inspiration for most of my music, all I need to do is post in this thread, so... yeah. This contest is right up my alley. Hey, no less of a chance to win than taking a lottery ticket. Hope I win.
  8. I'll sign onto this in. Glad I came on here to check things out today - sheesh, you nearly timed it so I couldn't even see the entrees, Rama (Right in the middle of a NM trip, where my internet is all but dead ).

    Hey, thanks!

Yeah, to be perfectly honest, I almost crashed twice on the way home, so I don't think my body could've handled too much more late night goodness, anyway. I hope y'all had enough fun without me :)

  10. He's most likely referring to the (relatively) complicated nuances and functions of any particular vst/vsti (this includes samplers, like Kontact). Anyone can load a sample and let it rip (which probably won't sound good/realistic, no matter how professional the sample library), but to make the sample sound believable it takes a lot of time and skill to finesse and automate the controls.
  11. Gah, I should've seen this one coming. I've heard most of the other FF posts in one form or another, so I guess it was inevitable that I'd hear the only FFIX track that I know well from the WIP boards. This was one of my favorite sources from the soundtrack, and I think you did a great job recreating the chill from the original. An interesting note - the Wild Arms section sounds very, very close to the intro of FFIX. Perhaps that's why you thought it wouldwork so well? Anyway, great remix, overall, and a great way to end the FF remix flood, DjP (even though it technically isn't a 'remix flood').
  12. Hey, just went to Video Games Live at E3 last night. OCRemix.org got a shout out during the concert - it got roughly a minute or two of attention from Tommy Tallarico on stage in front of... roughly 6000+ people? The Nokia Theatre was nearly full, so... yeah, about that much. Fucking awesome. OCR is getting more and more attention, it seems.
  13. Downloaded. (Like a Boss) EDIT: Just letting you know, I linked your track to my sig, if that's alright with you. It's just too perfect for the occasion.
  14. Yeah, not many people are actually attending E3, but if any of you E3 attendees are planning on seeing the Video Games Live show tomorrow you'll be sure to see me there. Anyone else going to the show? I know there are at least two 'nobodies' that are at least around for E3, so perhaps we could, I dunno, meet up at this show?
  15. Or, in the case of being accepted (if that's what you're going for), not at all. If you're not going for an OCR submission then just tone down the direct source usage a bit. I like your style, it's just that we need more your stuff in the arrangement than the source.
  16. Let's see... 0:07 - 0:24 has a quite synth with the source. 0:25 - 0:41 has a harsh synth with a variation of the source. 0:41 - 0:49 that same synth plays the source straight. 0:50 - 1:22 is straight from the source. 2:13 - end is pretty much a continuous string of source (yeah, I got lazy). It's pretty well saturated, if you listen for the source.
  17. You'd pronounce that as 'C-lau'? No way - we don't go around saying ' "M"-ozart', do we? It's Clah(w), say it right.
  18. Halc, you know if you say your name backward is becomes 'Clah'... which kind of sounds like Claw, which could be a reference Inspector Gadget's primary antagonist, which would be kind of awesome. My conclusion from this slippery slope of awesomeness is that you're at least tangentially awesome. You'd deserve a birthday thread on that count, alone. That's not to account for the awesome shit you continue to do for this site. Happy birthday, and may your 9-bit music continue to rock our ears.
  19. I didn't say it, but that's exactly what I did with my free'd up time - FFIX is going to have a kick ass boss remix in a couple of days.
  20. God, I love this track. Did I ever mention that this is one of my favorites from the WIP forums? I'm glad I had the opportunity to download it when you were showing it off there. Very tasty soundscape, very nice take on the source. The dirty funk is awesome, and the robo voice is always a great addition (judges be damned!). In all seriousness, though, this is some sweet, sweet tunage, here. Nice work!
  21. Yeah, predictions are all fun and games when no one has posted anything yet (it's all more obviously in jest, in that case), but in all honesty once the cards are down they seem to be more personal - it's like telling the other remixers to give it up prematurely.
  22. Nope, doesn't click with me. Why make Megaman at all if all you're in it for is the robo-poon of Roll? Wily is easy enough to just get rid of in your off time (it's not like anyone would miss the power-hungry bastard), so why have Megaman at all? Unless he wants both girl AND boy sex, which is perfectly plausible.
  23. *phew* Voting ain't easy. Fortunately it'll be easier and easier the further into the compo we get. Nice round, peeps.
