  1. Happy birthday, man. I would totally make a chiptune arrangement of the Happy Birthday song in your honor, but it's a copyrighted song so I can't.
  2. Oh hey I got Windman... Interesting - a week after I picked my selections I really wanted to get Windman but was too lazy to bother with changing it, lol. Also I'm in the first bracket. Can't wait to see who I'm paired with (although I can see a few that I hope I'm not paired with, ). Alrighty, let the games begin!
  3. Oh yes, I remember this one from the WIP forum ages ago. In fact, just a few days ago I was wondering if you guys submit this one. Very awesome track here - it has a great balance of cheese synths and awesome soundscape. You gotta love stuff like this, with all the chiptunage, sound effect, intricate soundscape. Just... it's just good stuff, here. BTW, the meter change at the end seemed to be building to a very interesting groove. Shame you guys decided to just cut the song off there.
  4. In the beginning of this track, the soundscape sounds a bit thin. The strings are very thin, in particular - perhaps some octave doubling and/or flute doubling will give it the strength it needs to fill the space better. Other than that (and what's been said, of course), this is kickass. Definitely enjoyed the verbatum approach on this one (you really stuck with the unconventional harmonic style from the source and made it work, which I applaud you for), but as Rozo said that won't get you on OCR. You're already aware of that, though, so I won't worry about it too much. ... yeah, great arrangement, bro. I loved it.
  5. Sorry for the late non-record shattering donation. I was a part of the super-tight-no-more-money group. Still am, but I can't let a year go by without giving anything to the site. Use my ten bucks well, DjP.
  6. I can't speak for Bahamut, but I think he wanted to keep things within the regular MMX canon, for the album (the MMZ track is a bonus track). Shame I didn't pick this game up back when I had a GC. Ah well, I can't go kicking myself for every game I didn't get.
  7. What inspired you to link me to the creationist site? If it's my stance on evolution, I'm representing the official view of the Catholic Church - evolution neither confirms nor denies God's hand in shaping the planet, so it's taught as a scientific fact. If you'd like to dispute that stance I'd me more than happy to join in, but I'd appreciate leaving it in the OCRC thread - that's what it's there for, after all.

  8. ... because I didn't know what they were called/who made them. Let's see if I can find the game anywhere and get into it (gotta love bullet hell ).
  9. I'm taking claim on BoF2 Boss, if that's the case.
  10. Alright, before you get on me I'll get you a proper update. I deserve to be harassed I suppose .
  11. A 'best of' album might not be a bad idea - each game seems to have it's hits and misses. Take the best of each and you'll have a manageable sized album with no filler tracks.
  12. It was already made for the GMRB last year. All he needs to do with it is touch up the mixing, if I recall correcly. So... git on it before the GRMRB takes all your time away .
  13. ... ... fuck. You haven't played 2 OR 4? Seriously, you're making a statement to remix the best of the games, and you're missing out on the two best of the series (imho). BoF2 had an especially epic soundtrack. I think it's a great idea. Go make it happen, ShinnyMetal. Also, Phantosmask is here to break up all these Ryu faces.
  14. Her channel description claims that they are all her tracks. I recognize your track, Tydin, but I'm not too familiar with the rest of them. If someone could provide the sources of the other tracks I'm sure that'd help with this channel, at least. Also, there's a thread dedicated to this sort of thing, so you can post it in there and people will respond. OCR flame crew, ASSEMBLE!!
  15. Haaahaha, you're the one who was practicing with Geeky. I suppose a little practice isn't a bad thing, though if I were you I'd practice and get familiar with your source. That's just me, though. Overall it isn't bad at all - the little chiptune ditty was nice, and the crunchy drums are neat. It seems to drag on little, and the instrument at the end is pretty piercing, but for a day of work this isn't bad. Good luck in the compo (unless you go up against me, of course ).
  16. You totally did - I mean look at that OP you have there, it's soooo four months ago.
  17. Washudoll was my sole inspiration for my Battletoads/DD remix on R:TS. That's how awesome he is. Although I've got to say that his Magna Centipede track surpasses even that one in awesomeness. And Devastus' track... holy fucking shit. Yeah, the album will be pretty epic.
  18. 'Getting posted' simply means having a track hosted here on OCR, which is not an easy task since the standard here is pretty close to professional quality with a particular type of arrangement style (not too conservative, not too liberal). Here's some details about the process, if you're interested - sections 4,5 & 6 are particularly relevant at this stage. If you're interested, I can say your track certainly has a good shot, given that you make a couple of tweaks to it. I hope to see you in the competition, by the way .
  19. Haa, well don't worry about remixing overmixed sources - combining two sources will make it unique and interesting by default
  20. Ha, there you are. Hey, go join this compo. It'd be a great exercise for your remixing abilities.

That and I really, really want to see it expand to a 32 person competition, because let's face it that'd be awesome.

  21. I think this qualifies as a remix, don't worry. Very interesting remix. The sounds are clean and the arrangement is fairly interesting (if a little conservative). The processed vocals are both a blessing and a curse in this track in that people will either love em' or hate em'. To be perfectly honest I think they're rather unique, much like some of Cyndi Lauper's vocals. If you'd like to give OCR a shot, here's my critique - the arrangement, contrary to not being a VG remix, is possibly too much so. It is very much on the conservative side, nearly to a fault, if OCR is an aim, here. I do hear one or two sections that vary it u a bit, though, so that works in your favor. Conservative or not, sometimes the textures sound repetitive. Rather than copy and pasting the same textures under the verses, I'd recommend adding, subtracting or otherwise changing up the texture a little bit while still remaining connected to the source. The cutoff ending is not fitting at all, and the sudden opening is disorienting. The cutoff in particular is a very lackluster ending to an otherwise great track. Please create an intro/outro - it would be awesome. The drums are a touch on the boring side, throughout. The snare and hats sound weak, and the patterns are generally quite repetitive (though the fills are nice). Find a snare to double over your current one that has a nice, short attack and maybe add a little volume or fatten the mid EQ range for the hats to give them a little more strength. The bass is somewhat fitting to the genre, but a little more compression/volume to it would help give it just the right about of punch in comparison to the rest of the track. The production is incredibly tight. Just thought I'd throw that in there, because it's very impressive (especially for someone who says it's not a strong point). I liked it quite a bit. You can put this up for mod review, if you'd like any more feedback on it. Also, seeing that you're a Megaman remixing buff you should check out this competition, if you have the time - everyone there would probably love your contribution, and you'd get the quick attention of many/most of the other remixers here. Great work on this one - with a few minor tweaks I could see you getting posted, if you so chose.
  22. And same to you - screw time restraints and join in the fun. You certainly have enough remixing skills to be competitive for at least a little while, so don't shortchange yourself. You will regret it if we got to 31 participants and needed one more for a full on 32 participant brawl, here.
  23. Thanks for the offer. I think the issue will be resolved shortly, though - see, the computer was needed for the business, and with it out of commission the business stalls. Not that it's a good thing, but it also means that I'll have help resolving it quickly, so I don't think I'll be missing out on this. As for seeding the competition... no, that's not cool. It's actually really fun being the underdog, and it pumps you up to work hard when you're in that situation.
  24. Wow this sure has grown. My comp completely blew up a few days ago (er, more accurately it melted down, actually). I hope that doesn't affect me in this compo, but there's a small chance that I won't be able to participate. Don't knock me out yet, though - I'm working overtime to get something to write music on again (seriously, I normally work from dirt conditions to begin with - hopefully I can get something working within the next two weeks). I missed this last year and I'd be terribly disappointed if I missed it again this year.
