  1. For some reason, I see people continuing to distribute it throughout the internet for years to come, and possibly even continuing to develop things for it long after the official site dies. There's too many people that only use this player for it to suddenly get wiped from the internet once the company discontinues it. I personally stopped using it once I had my own computer, but that's just me. Still sad to see the llama finally won, in the end.
  2. *waves* Oh neat, Bionic Commando. Always love listening to what you have, even if I don't post nearly as much as I should (I see that changing in the next few weeks for me - it's been ridiculous for me for the last few months). For some reason, some of the parts in the earlier parts of the song seem a bit more cluttered than your normal fare (like 1:26, for example - just sounds like the timbres and ranges are conflicting in there). Nice thumpin' beats, though, and interesting selection for the source. I like it, man.
  3. Ooo, I love the sounds that you've got going in here. Byproduct is absolutely right about that guitar, though - it's distracting panning as it is now. I'm going to go out on a limb and say the structure is pretty boring, too - you have the music hang out in the same phrase for far too long. Don't be afraid to explore the rest of the source, as it'll help make the arrangement more interesting overall. Also, while it's not a big deal if you don't plan on submitting the track to OCR, if you ever plan on making a submission there is a legal restriction against the use of Squaresoft SFX on any submission here - which means if you submit this you'd need to remove the Kefka laugh. Sucks, but that's the way Square-Enix wants it, so we have to comply. Well, you don't have to, but if you submit it you would. Just an FYI for you. Sounds great so far, though - I would like to see what else you do with it!
  4. MOD REVIEW Ooo, this have sexy written all over it - I really love the jazzy rendition of the sources in here, and you transition them both very well into one another. It's liberal, but I hear more than enough of the source in there; don't worry about being called out on being too liberal here. I got a giggle at the Jurassic Park reference, but I don't think that'll fly on the judges panel - you'll get a NO, RESUB, almost guaranteed. Otherwise, this is really, really good. Remove the Jurassic Park bit at 5:21 and sub this bad boy, it's pretty awesome.
  5. That lecture was exactly what it needed to be - clear, concise and interesting. Very nice work on the Chiptune pimpage at TED, Danimal Cannon.
  6. Aww yeah - more RushJet1 action! brb, listening to album now... EDIT: Didn't take more than a few tracks to get me convinced that this is just as sexy as your MM3 arrangement album - maybe even more so, 'cause it sounds like you expand the themes just a little more this time around, from the little that I heard on it so far. Very nice work, as expected, man.
  7. Happy birthday, man, and congratulations on your first mixpost
  8. Daaayum, I would be all over this, but unfortunately I'm completely competition'd out. Make this popular enough to go on for another year, everyone - I want to do this type of compo for some of my favorite music of all time someday!
  9. Shit on like... what? The game has an entire album dedicated to it now, with a variety of electronic genres (as well as an orchestral and metal arrangement in there). I doubt that qualifies as being "shit on". If you don't like one song, try listening to one of the other tracks - something might stand out that you enjoy. Seeing that it's one of your favorite games on the NES, you'd do well to listen to the rest of the album. As for the mix - dirty and heavy. Sets up the track nicely with some chiptunes before dropping the dirt on us all. Personally, I like what Rockos did with it, but to each his own.
  10. *Shrug* Which is most of us. Sometimes, though, it's just easier to enjoy what's there rather than getting upset at what we missed - life is more pleasant that way.
  11. Who knows, maybe they'll appreciate an official album from OCR, when the time comes. Dreaming is good - since sometimes dreams come true. If Capcom sets a nice little precedent with this album, more companies may want to officially endorse albums in the future, which is not a bad thing at all. As far as this album goes, I'm surprised that people are shocked that this topic came up - I personally thought it would generate more anger than the FF6 kickstarter, but most people seem to be quite understanding of it (which is awesome). Like DjP said, it's actually nice that Blue_Drac came out and asked about it since it puts the question on the table, allowing the staff to answer questions on it, rather than simply walking away from the site, so I give kudos to that. I just hope the initial reaction doesn't turn him off to the site or it's music in the future. I don't think I can add anything that hasn't already been said, so look at DjP and LT's posts, if y'all want answers to the OP's question
  12. Finished mine, just in time for the listening party. I'm uploading to you right now, so it'll be a second, Chernabogue.
  13. ROZO! Happy birthday, WIP brother-in-arms!
  14. Man, I hope more people give this a listen. It really has some great gems in it. Personally, I like Phonetic Heroes' track the most - it just has some great flavor that I didn't expect in it. Hylian Lemon's track is fun, too, and Rockos' track sets the tone so damn well. Love the music on this one, and am very happy to have participated.
  15. Balls, so is my name! HYPER NO SLEEP ENGINE OF MUSIC WRITING, ACTIVATE!
  16. Man, this competition was intense. Dem Handsome Devils were biting our heels this whole time - very proud of my team that we pulled out on top! Great competition, everyone!
  17. If you're looking for feedback on the Christian message you could go in the OCR Christians thread in the PP&R forum - you'd likely get lyrical feedback there.
  18. Best part of that baby-blue game. You don't know the satisfaction until you've done it yourself.
  19. I don't know of any Christian music being done for OCR before, though I have given it some real thought (though I'd be going more for traditional latin mass, myself). The site should not reject it on grounds that it has a Christian message (there are no rules against it), though you'll probably get people in the comments section saying it'd be better without the words. Two suggestions on this: First, write music that is well produced and is still recognizable as the source tune, since those are the grounds that you could get knocked down by. Second, make the lyrics/singing integral to the music, as it'd be no good if you made a track with a Christian message and have a NO/RESUB suggestion of removing the lyrics because they sound 'tacked on'. I've actually been wondering when someone would try to pull this off - let's see something happen!
  20. Ooo, this is the first time my music has ever been in the trailer for an album! Sexiness all around! For those that still have to wait for release before being able to listen to it, this album contains a great amount of musical sex. I highly recommend it.
  21. I have a Cubase Dongle. Actually, I think I'll start learning it in earnest next year. Um, also, my track is coming through the pipes, and it's pretty sweet. Hang tight, all!
  22. No kidding - terrible time to catch the flu. Oh hey, it's BGC. 'Sup, I still love your music.
