  1. The japanese are master story-tellers guys!
  2. I noticed the same thing. However, I am giving the guy the benefit of the doubt that since this is a WIP, there will be more of the song later dealing with the piano, or he'll fit it in better earlier or something. I dunno, lol.
  3. In my personal opinion: So far, so good. The bass parts MAY be to be a little toned a bit (or cut down a little on their reverb), but that's just me. The intro was good, and I like (for the most part) how the instruments sound. Keep on fine-tuning things and cleaning things up, and keep on this general path, and you might have a pretty cool mix going here. If you're going for OCR, like I said, the intro is good, but you'll need a few more parts that are yours, if that makes sense. Your own take, if you will.
  4. I think we can all agree that VGCats is about as big a pile of shit as that comic portrays. In fact, that comic can be used as a metaphor FOR VGcats.
  5. Thanks for the suggestions and the long time it took me to respond... Busy days ahoy! Childhood's Cave I might expand sometime later down the line, when I have an idea of what to expand it with. I agree in that Forest is just about the perfect length; I am surprised how much I was on a roll with that one (and how much of a roll I am on with my latest little song I'm fiddling around with). It feels pretty great to be musically inspired for the first time in months. Just adding another request for anyone else who wants to jump in and say 'this sux/rox'.
  6. They could've had some real lulzy costumes instead of the CG. But at that point you have to wonder: "What would've been worse?"
  7. I KNEW I had heard those voices somewhere else before.
  8. If that were the case, we couldn't laugh at how horrendously shitty Hero of Time was, no could we?
  9. I think you'd really ought to give some focus to the actual hardware specs of the old systems- what was the soundcard of the C64 actually capable of? What was the same with the Atari, or the arcade machines? Look into that. If you actually do some digging, you find that a lot of games that no one has ever really heard of have paved the way for more complex music design. Ever hear of Monty on the Run? Didn't think the C64 was capable of a lot? This shit's all over the fucking place. If Monty on the Run was actually a good game, it and its soundtrack would have been a big rival for Super Mario Bros. (the games were somewhat contemporary). If you just want recommendations, Hip Tenaka is obviously someone to look into. As well, the Metroid II soundtrack is probably the first game OST to attempt an , and this was on the original Gameboy.
  10. Raping Megaman? Nah. The only thing I wished for is a little bit more recognizable music. I only really picked up Protoman's jingle and Wily's Castle. and lol at: DOUCHIE
  11. "Hey Rock, does my hair look fake?" I never got the whole "Rock/Roll" thing until this movie pointed it out to me, lol. What I loved about the movie in a kind of cheesy way was how Light was a total giant dick towards Wily. "Well Wily you helped me build these Robot Masters, so I'm firing you now!" "Oh I'll do the interview by myself sorry Wily no one cares about you!" "Wily you have to rethink your priorities while I rebuild my dead wife's children!" It's funny in a "if you think about it" kinda way.
  12. From what I've heard from my pals on other forums, it's stuff like the removal of the rotating Butter Buildings and other such things that's annoying in Nightmare in Dreamland.
  13. So, I've been using FL a good long time now, though I wouldn't hold my breath and call myself anything but an amateur. However, when I finally do feel like I have the skill, I want to attempt trying to make something worthy of this site, which was one of the driving motivations for me getting to make music when I was much younger. Anyhoo, these are my latest (greatest?) songs, and I want to hear what the resident 'experts' think. They're for some little game projects I'm working on on the side, for fun. Saber's Theme Childhood's Cave The Forest Transformed Ocean Blue MechaKnight Particularly, I would like advise/criticism on the technical aspect of things: how they sound, the mastering/EQing*, etc etc. If anyone can take the time, I'd much appreciate it! *Fun fact, I still don't know what EQ means.
  14. So I suppose that's a Kirby's Adventure over Ninja Gaiden, eh? : )
  15. I never bought Nightmare in Dreamland because enough people who are big gamers tell me it's pretty shoddy compared to the original.
  16. I listed off only my VC games; I said in the post I only have 500 to spare. I've beaten 9 and 10 anyway, lol. 10 on hard mode, too. I think I'mma rule Zelda II out, because I HAVE played that a lot before, just never beaten it. Probably just better for me to go to VirtualNES or something for that one. I'm still holding out a little on Kirby's Adventure, because I know that that will be fun if anything. But then again, Ninja Gaiden is fun too...
  17. Anyhoo, after doing some spending over the course of time, with Wiiware games and a few VC games, I finally was able to get all the odd-ended 800-wii point leftovers into a nice and manageable 500 wii points. Enough for one good NES game. Now, you'll say "Wow, actually buying a Wii NES game? You're a tool mr. no emulator!" yeah, I am, but I got the 500 points and I might as well use up the damn stuff. My current VC-only list for reference: Megaman 2 Secret of Mana Castlevania III and IV Sin and Punishment Kirby's Dreamland 3 Phantasy Star II (good lord was this a mistake) Super Metroid Now, what I'm thinking about runs along the lines of: Kirby's Adventure Ninja Gaiden Blaster Master Zelda 2 Now, what would you suggest? It doesn't necessarily have to be from those four, but a nice platformer would be ideal. I know Kirby is in that list, and Kirby games are never that hard, but a degree of challenge is always nice. Thanks for any and all suggestions.
  18. I thought this was pretty good, for a fan-movie. There is a whole lot more sincerity here than in Hero of Time, or rather, Hero of Shit and Asian Gorons. It was cheesy, but in the good kind of way, and actually enjoyable.
  19. You know, I was thinking about that one, but that seemed more for Wii in general and not VC/NES recommendations. Well, if a mod wants to merge I won't raise a hissy fit.
  20. LOCK PLEASE LOCK PLEASE Anyhoo, after doing some spending over the course of time, with Wiiware games and a few VC games, I finally was able to get all the odd-ended 800-wii point leftovers into a nice and manageable 500 wii points. 21. I'm pretty surprised too, but then again, the OST for Mike Tyson's Punch Out! was not made by Nobuo Uematsu, so I guess I can see why it hasn't been remixed yet.
  22. I only start to use repetitive expletives when something REALLY makes me mad. Like buying and playing Yoshi's Island DS, complete with piss-poor levels, music made by retarded monkeys, stupid gameplay, and an art style that manages to be both a mockery and a disgrace to the original. Good LORD how did they fuck that up so badly? Also, you guys are forgetting the best part of the pirated GB Sonic game, the ending! It's kind of like Winter Games' soundtrack.
  23. Yoshi's Island DS had some pretty fucking terrible music. It was a terrible fucking game, too.
  24. There Will Be Brawl is how you do something relatively low-budget and succeed. And no, it was an Asian guy saying "I'm a Goron!" Lol.
  25. This is a pretty neat remix, and i am glad to see some more Metroid lovin' around these parts.
