[April fools!] OverClocked ReMixanator Release!
EC2151 replied to Kenogu Labz's topic in General Discussion
REAL artists don't need the remixinator. They need an artistic vision and integrity. Way to open up OCR to a bunch of talentless faggots who get hard off of boring Final Fantasy techno. Oh wait, that's what you already do! -
Step one: figure out how to put notes in the piano roll Step two: figure out how to change instruments, and make greater beats than that shitty preset stuff Step three: continue to refine steps one and two, maybe tinkering with time sigs Step four: after about 10 or so songs under steps 1-3, start experimenting with filters, as they will become indispensible Step five: continue finding what filter combos make things better (orchestral: Fruity Reverb, Acoustic Room, the like; and so forth). Fiddle around with filter settings to see what you like Step six: Tinker around with filters until you are confident with messing around with playlists. Step 7: create songs synthesizing steps 1-6, and continue to refine these steps in subsequent songs. That's the general path that i think is best taken. These options are found easily by just exploring the program. You know, clicking on things to see where they go. Do NOT jump into FL trying to make the songs you've always wanted to. Just start out with a lot of tests until you feel you are READY to make the songs you've wanted to (and even then, they probably won't turn out how you wanted them; impetus for improvement!). Any specific questions you have you should ask in the help FL forums.

[April fools!] OverClocked ReMixanator Release!
EC2151 replied to Kenogu Labz's topic in General Discussion
This pisses me off. I spent all those years lurking around the internet looking for all the right torrents to get Reason, Sibelius, Reaper and FL for free, to get myself in the door here; man, I wanted to BE somebody, like DarkeSword But no, my dreams are over, OCR sold out, and djpretzel is probably going down on McVaffe whilst the latter is fellating Darkesword as of this typing. Because that's the ONLY way I saw this getting through. Jesus, this is like when my parents broke up. -
This would sound better remixinated.

[April fools!] OverClocked ReMixanator Release!
EC2151 replied to Kenogu Labz's topic in General Discussion
I torrent the shit out of every program out there to make good musics, and I get nowhere, and now this remixnator comes and makes my hard-work all come for naught. Fuck you forever, OCR. Forever. -
Yeah, pretty much just try making test songs, trying out different things each time, slowly getting your know-how of the program up to par (lol, the first song I ever made on FL was called "Testy Trial", because that's what it was. That experiment was "how do I make notes?"). This is not a fast thing, though I deluded myself into thinking that when I was younger. Slowly go about learning your DAW, and then things become clear one by one.

Hmmmmmm.... And here I was using missiles...

Unless the game is [a] Metroid; then above point is false And fuck Hell. Jeeziz, gotta love the whole "lol be totally dependent on random health drops" and how Heavy Press eats away all the health you saved up, and Ballos... This is going to be a long weekend, I can feel it.

I like the Nemesis so far. I'm pretty good at avoiding triangles, and even if I'm not, one hit is usually enough to put me back on the offensive again. Uggggggghhhhhhh. 5 seconds DEATH 8 seconds DEATH 10 seconds DEATH fall down shaft DEATH Very annoying. VERY annoying. And of course, everything after that... Tell me, is the whole thing just one big no-save gauntlet? If you got and/or want to spend the cash, I'd say just go for it. I'll also say that I have the exact same misgivings you had, but I decided to just go with it and go for the Wii version. I'm loving the Wii version, the option to switch between the musics is pretty damn great (though I only really felt it necessary to switch to the old in the are called Plantation. When you get there, you'll feel the same way), and it is an all-around great game that I have already sunk more than ten hours into (comparing the say, 13 hours I put on my first playthrough of Metroid Prime 3 Corruption... amazingly, I'll have to say right now that Cave Story is better made than Corruption; coming from the biggest die-hard Metroid fan, that is saying something.). Get it, or if you wanna be cheap, get it on PC. However, this type of game (for me anyway) was a lot more comfortable with a remote (and no, no joypad; those things are gay).

I've only ever really looked at cheat guides for RPGs and Strategy RPGs, like Dragon Quest games, or the DS Knights in the Knightmare. Platformers I can usually do things well on my own, considering I've been playing them regularly since about 4 years of age. The Spur/Polar Star question was just something I needed clarification on. As far as the actual endings go, I kinda intuited the whole "If you talk to Booster early" thing when I found I could just jump across the chasm, AND how the teleporter led back to Arthur's house (plus the whole balcony thing); the rest comes from simple exploration. In either event, I reloaded my save, giving up the Snake in order to go through a very painful trek through the labryinth, Core boss, waterway (no jetpack/machine gun around here.... Ugh) and THEN getting the Spur. WELLLLL worth it. Holy moly the gun is pretty great. Easily better than the Machine Gun, but I REALLY miss the impromtu jet-pack a L3 Machine Gun was. In any event, I'm on the right path towards getting the good ending, doing everything right, essentially. Now all I need is the Nemesis and I am set to take on any sorry mofo that comes my way.

also what zircon said.

So I got this, and I'm lovin' it a whole lot. Beat it and got the normal ending, so now I'm working for the Good Ending. I usually like to switch between the original and new music, as I like them both (though the original main theme is a whole lot better). So, I'm wondering, you Cave Story savvy people, do I need to give that old man the very Polar Star I got in the beginning of the game to get the Spur? Or can I give him the Snake and still get it? My first time through, I took the machine gun, because impropmtu jet-pack = game-saver, but I've heard that getting the good ending is much more doable with the Spur's power (though I have the Snake on one save right now, considering how awesome it is). Your thoughts?

How long has it taken you to musically get where you are today?
EC2151 replied to Gario's topic in General Discussion
I've been doing music since I was 6 years old. I'm in college now, still trying to improve my piano technique. I still don't feel like I'm up to snuff with the 'big leagues' so to speak, though I feel I have plenty of ideas. What holds me back is not musical ability (well, debatable. I'm pretty self-effacing) or lack of ideas, because I DO have them, what really holds me back is lack of technical ability in software, where my expertise is not quite formed. I can belt out a piano rendition of a tune I made up, but trying to put that into the Piano Roll in FL or in notation on Sibelius yields less than satisfactory results. Only a few songs have been to the contrary, or in fact, better than I imagined. So I keep on making songs, getting slowly better at the software with each passing attempt. Considering I've only been using the software for about a year-ish now, hopefully I can get myself somewhere respectable one day. -
Like I said earlier, I really like a lot of 10's soundtrack. Blade Man is a really damn good song, and I haven't heard a lot like it in the series to compare. Solar Man and Chill Man, too. Of all the RM songs, I think that Sheep Man has stuck in my head the most. It really just grows on you and stays with you the longest. Or at least it does so for me. I think that can describe the whole soundtrack, really. It's the type that grows on you. All of the Wily castle/boss/machine music is pure excellence, in my opinion. Stages 2 and 3, and 5 are definitely highlights; really awesome music. And the Machine/Capsule tracks are pretty bitchin' too. I just beat the game (normal) in about 2 hours today with Protoman, and I am pretty glad of the purchase as a whole. Now I just gotta try to go after Hard mode for real this time... Ugh.

Am I the only one who thinks the Doom movie is totally hilarious? It was his first mission! Well it won't BE MY LAST!!!!!!!!
-
Though I do have a feeling that such a bug can and will be fixed, though sitting on their asses for a year as Bleck noted is a bit damned silly. And then there is the original soundtrack at the least.

No I didn't, because I am a fucking American and I don't take shit from you pansy Europeans.

Great job with that fucking DSi and DSi XL. Discuss what you think of Ninty's new money printer and the inevitability of a Wii successor (which happens to coincide with me owning my own Wii for less than a year LOL!). Also, a mod please lock this since in my "click to view new posts" session, I did not find the thread already made. My bad.

I think I am going to get this, because a Metroidvania game on the keyboard is pretty frustrating for me; I'd rather play with a controller on a comfy seat. I DO have 600 Wii points that are just sitting on my account, so after a quick recharge, I'll go for this and then later Rondo of Blood. I hear all the extra modes were originally supposed to be DLC, but they changed it to just regular unlockables. Which is cool. Even with qualms with the 'new' translation and music (I mean, the music can't be bad, right?), would you still recommend me to the Wii version? I'm always up for a good long and fun game.

As ignorant as this sounds, I didn't even know there WAS instrumental hip-hop until I started listening to this guy through Samurai Shamploo. He and his talent will be sorely missed.

In Brawl, yes. And in Echoes, but there she was just UGLY (a step BACK from Prime 1's realistic face). Not so much in Zero Mission itself, in my own opinion. But that's me. I think Samus looked the best (teh hawt3st) in Fusion. She's got a nice look in that game going for her.

When Macs do it, it's cute. In the "Aw, the Mac is trying" type of cute.

Frankly, the more plainer and uglier people in games, the better. Doesn't else find all the pretty-boys and androgynous people kinda boring? Nothing against attractive features, but a lot of the world is pretty plain if you stop to look.
