  1. Said once, and I'll say it again, I think it sounds grate. Great even. DJ Metal
  2. Ha! I finally have a reason to mess around with photoshop! Man...after finals, I'm gonna post the mediocre boss art you've ever seen! DJ Metal
  3. I think you have a good point. The system nowadays is pretty much all about what you want (in terms of good-lookingness, exclusive games, gimmicky-ness, controller type, etc.,) And each one fills a fairly exclusive niche. It's very unlike the last generation in my opinion. Last time around we had what amounted to 3 clone systems (with a few differences here and there) and you bought whichever brand had the games you felt you most wanted. That's my opinion, at least. I'll say right now, I love all 3 systems on the market right now. I've been a mite disappointed with the 360 lately, but every system has a slump. I'm totally impressed that the PS3 is doing as well as it has been, and being a nintendo fanboy, I like a lot of Wii games.
  4. Man...I hear that. The last 1v1 fighter I really sunk my teeth into was Soul Caliber 2...and that was what, like five or six years ago? And before that, it was Marvel vs. Capcom 2...jeeze.
  5. So, I'm great at misunderstanding things, so let me know if I'm totally off on this one: This project has to wait for DQD to be released, period? Or does it have to wait for DQD to be released on OCR? DJ Metal
  6. Or if you're not requesting that somebody else do a remix, but you want feedback on what you've got so far, go here! If you're to work with somebody on this project, I dunno where you'd go for that =D. DJ Metal
  7. So, despite being relatively "in-the-know" when it comes to games coming out, I've heard very little about Street Fighter IV. Considering how much hype there's been about things like GTA IV and MSG4, I'm surprised at how little I've heard. Or maybe I'm not as with it as I thought I was =D. Anyways, I wiki'd it, and I'm actually pretty excited for it. Thoughts and opinions on the latest installment? Only a month before it hits arcades!
  8. You guys rule. Thanks for the help and the linkies! DJ Metal
  9. Hey...sorry I have no idea as to the song, but what station were you watching when this came on, and what time, what timezone, and what was going on the TV when this came on?
  10. So, at the risk of sounding like a noob (again), I was wondering if there is a place that remixes that don't quite make it onto the site go? Like...only about 10%-15% of submitted work goes onto the site...so if someone were curious as to what some of the work that gets denied sounds like, is there anywhere on the site that has the info on where to find those tracks (or less likely, anywhere on the site that has those tracks)? Or would we just have to check the judges review forum and look up the remixer's web page? Or is this line of questioning leading me to brick wall? Thanks for any help in advance! DJ Metal
  11. Hey, not bad. I totally dig this little video of your's. Timing was good, and I think I like your sense of humor. But despite the good animation, I think perhaps were more warranted in some places (namely pac-man, but at the same time, I like his angry face >=O. ) So anyways...I loved it. Great job.
  12. A bit harsh, perhaps, but I did overlook this thread when searching. I keyworded "Street Fighter" and several variations thereof, but couldn't find a darn thing. So thank you, Chickenwarlord.
  13. So, a few days/weeks ago, I saw a street fighter remix/video on the forums here. I was a catchy song, and it had lyrics in japanese that were pretty funny/cool. But I can't for the life of me find it here. So...with that vague description, can somebody help me find that video?! The song is stuck in my head and it's driving me CRAZY! DJ Metal
  14. A good solid message. I agree with just about everything you say in there. People in general have a big superiority complex when it comes to "in-group" and "out-group" dynamics, whether it's online, in real life, wherever. People like to think that the group they're a part of is top dog, because that would mean that they are also top dog via association. I <3 psychology, by the way. But it is counter-productive. It's the stuff of flame wars and endless spam. But that's the internet working with the mind. Attempting to network, build a solid community foundation, and then reach out to other communities and networks is the only way to start conglomerating (I never thought I'd use this word) and solidifying gamers (or any other group) as a whole. It's hard road, but I think we can manage with a little work. Ugh...work... DJ Metal
  15. Yeah, I know, and I have been doing just that. But I figured I'd give people on here a chance to get their stuff played. Y'know...for tiny bit of publicity they'd get for appearing on our show. Kinda a service to the artists, I guess. You know, I like your stuff, so I'll play it, but also...if you want your stuff played, maybe it's something I haven't heard yet, or something I wouldn't normally play...you know, for the artist! sorta thing.
  16. I'm not sure if anybody has said anything about this, but there is actually some odd connection to David Bowie and MSG3. In an interview with Hideo Kojima, Kojima stated that he wanted to use space oddity and ashes to ashes as ending themes to MSG3, but when the game shifted away from the "Space race" theme, the songs went with it. Also, Major Zero is first named "Major Tom" in the virtuous mission in the beginning of the game. Major Tom being the dude from space oddity. I couldn't find the interview with Kojima, but it WAS on wikipedia...so take with a grain of salt, huh? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Oddity Also, super stoked for MSG4. Seriously. I'm gonna highjack my buddy's PS3 when he gets it, just like I did for GTA4. Because I'm broke and a terrible person =D DJ Metal
  17. I use a pair of "Sony MDR-V150"s when I broadcast, and the sound quality is decent (but probably not as high as you'd like), and the noise cancellation is alright. These things are kinda on the cheaper end of things, so they'll run you about $20-$25...but they've held up well for me. Most of my friends that use them tell me that they break after about a year and a half of heavy use. DJ Metal
  18. I haven't watched this interview yet (I'm kinda time crunched right now...why am I on OCR? I'm not THAT time crunched) but from the *surprisingly* positive comments, I will when I catch a spare moment. But for my two cents, I say simply this: Just about every video game-based movie I've seen has sucked, not just Mr. Boll's. I'm not trying to start a flame war here or anything, but I've only seen three video game based movies that I've liked so far: Mortal Kombat, Dead or Alive, and Silent Hill. I like the first two because they're basically terrible kung-fu movies "based" on video games, and I love kung fu movies. I like silent hill because I'm a fanboy, and because I actually thought the story was interesting, well acted, and by and large, a fun experience. But mostly, video game based movies *generally* kinda suck in my opinion. I don't know why. Bad acting, bad scripting, bad games, whatever, I just don't find many interesting or entertaining. Also I'm not sure if I agree with that. Comic-based movies have been having that problem for years, and I think they've gotten over the casting issue fairly well. Frank Miller stuff aside, most hollywood-comic films are pretty enjoyable to me. Anyways...I'll have to see that interview later. DJ Metal
  19. Bumping for more turnout (hopefully). Post that stuff you want played! Tomorrow at 10 AM! WOO!
  20. I tend to agree that it depends on the game, but to me, if the soundtrack is awesome enough, I think it can really enhance the gaming experience. Horror or shooter, RPG or RTS, whatever, the soundtrack is a big seller for me. I'll still play a game if the music isn't great...but think of silent hill (the music for which is some of my favorite) if you bad music? I can, but it isn't pleasant! And no...I don't think the music is understated. I think that music in games (just like in cinema) fits in a very special niche. VGM 4 life =D. DJ Metal
  21. Wait wait wait...call me out of the loop (which I am), but there's a "Tales" project, and it's 'almost' done? Sweet mother of mercy! My heart! But...call it a hunch now...I get the feeling there's been some delays? =D DJMetal
  22. Hey, I loved the music for Advanced Wars: Days of Ruin. Especially Brenner's music...so I'm puttin' in a request! Thanks to people involved in advance! DJ Metal
  23. Despite deviating from the game, I actually found the Doom movie to be a fun (if not a little hokey). I think if they hadn't named it "Doom" it would've actually been a memorable action flick. But I digress...To avoid a flame war, yeah, I agree. If they don't deviate from the plot, and don't muddle things together, we may be seeing a game-based/inspired movie. But odds are against it =D. Also, I'd like to apologize for harboring the notion that all Persians were darker-skinned. Thank you to everyone who informed me that quite the opposite can be true. I had no idea, actually. Knowledge is power!
  24. Son of a...those are nice looking! Man...I'm getting so worked up about Silent Hill...I have remember that Metal Gear Solid comes out first.... But I noticed something in the article...it mentions both "The Collective" and "Double Helix". Now I'm really confused.
  25. Hey everyone. I've posted in a few other places, but I'm still pretty much new to the forums. I'm DJMetal, and I co-host a VGM radio show out of PSU in Portland, Oregon. I've been coming to OCR for about 4 years now, and I've listed to every remix on the site at least once (I know because my iTunes keeps track for me =D), and I'm here to try to get involved in the community. I'm doing this for two reasons: First, I think I've been missing out on some awesome people by not doing the forum thing, and Second: I figured spreading the word about our radio show can't hurt. Especially considering you guys all probably like video game music to begin with. So...yeah! Here I am. Favorite games include: Metal Gear Solid, GTA: Vice City, Fire Emblem, Advanced Wars, and Xenosaga Ep. 1. Pleasure to be here! DJ Metal
