Are there any games you guys play over and over again?
DJMetal replied to atmuh's topic in General Discussion
I play Warcraft 3 (not WoW) a lot....that game just never gets old. I also LOVE the Advance Wars games...and I too get sucked back into Diablo II every now and again. But soon...Diablo III, no? DJ Metal -
Out in Portland, OR, I've only got one big one coming: Powerglove opening for Dragonforce on July 5th. *excitement*. DJ Metal

I'm going to listen to every SNES soundtrack.
DJMetal replied to Less Ashamed Of Self's topic in General Discussion
So...how's it coming? =D DJ Metal -
I just not checked this mix out...errr...yeah. I can't say I like it too much. You have an interesting idea here, but I'm not a big fan of the execution. I like the sort of "edgey, dank, dismal" underground feel it has, but I can't get past that ukulele...it sounds pretty bad in my opinion. It also doesn't line up all that well with the beat. DJ Metal

Hey, I really liked this! It's hard to go wrong with Castlevania. I really really like the first 30 or so seconds of the song, and everything in the background is fine to me...but your main..err..instrument, I guess (whatever it is that starts at 0:37) kinda gets on my nerves. It feels too harsh and digital compared to the rest of what is going on in this track. It has a good sound, but the background and the foreground sound like they clash to me. DJ Metal

Yeah...I could use google...but there's always nice people like you positively reinforcing my laziness =D. Thanks, and yes, from now on, I'll do my own dirty work. DJ Metal

I like the piece. To my amateur ears, nothing sounds off or wrong, and the whole track has a nice sound. I can't compare to the original, but I'd be willing to wager this one isn't too conservative...all in all, good work! I'd say go for submission. DJ Metal

Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim - Quatera Woods Release
DJMetal replied to Vurez's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Well, I have to say I really like your arrangement. It is very conservative, but it feels more vibrant than the original. I think the title suits the track: "Lush" is the perfect adjective for it. Good job! DJ Metal -
Forgive me for asking, but what is a renoise, and how does one find it? Would like to hear the tracks, but have no renoises =(. DJ Metal

Dude, sweet jesus. Seriously. You should submit this. I felt like sneak-dancing, or maybe CQC-raving, the whole damn time. That piano thing you got goin' on in there, I dig it hard. The beat and background sounds are also super nice. IMO, anyways. Saved for personal reference. =D DJ Metal

So...I've heard some things about the gaming industry's favorite lawyer, and figured I'd post what I saw here, since we all so dearly love video gaming =D. I found this on the wiki: 'On March 20, 2008, the Florida Supreme Court imposed sanctions on Thompson, requiring that any of his future filings in the court be signed by a member of The Florida Bar other than himself. The court noted that Thompson had responded to the show cause order with multiple "rambling, argumentative, and contemptuous" responses that characterized the show cause order as "bizarre" and "idiotic."' And even better: 'On June 4, 2008, Judge Tunis recommended 'enhanced disbarment' for Thompson, saying that Thompson demonstrated continued misconduct, a pattern of misconduct and persistently failed to admit any wrongdoing. Enhanced disbarment lengthens the period before an attorney may reapply for admission to the bar from five years to ten. After being prevented from making a speech to begin the disciplinary hearing, Thompson distributed his written objections to lawyers, a court reporter, and a newspaper reporter, departed the courtroom, and called the proceedings against him a "star chamber" and "kangaroo court."' So I say good riddance to bad rubbish. Though I'm sure most of the noise he made about video games went wholly unnoticed by people that actually matter when it comes to making policies about video game violence and associated things, he was still really really annoying. At least to me. But I think we may have heard the last of him. Finally. Thoughts, opinions, corrections?

Last July I down loaded remixes 1-1500ish, and I slapped them on their own playlist in my itunes. Just recently have I finished listening to all of them. Mostly because I put the list on random and listened to whatever came on while I was gaming (you know, for games that don't have good music or music at all). Personally, I liked 80%-90% of what I hear, but I'm an easy-to-please guy. I hope you enjoy your awesome journey as much as I did. It is actually the sense of accomplishment I gained from having listened to all OCRemixes at least once that led me to become a DJ! DJ Metal

Okay, I'll just throw this out there for myself and other n00bs who don't know the first thing about actually making music. I would post on the WIP boards, except that I have no idea how to critique anything. I can honestly say I don't know what a "back beat" is, and although I can tell you what I personally like, that has nothing to do with the objective quality of the track. I'd love to give feedback, if I thought I had anything valid or useful to say, but to be honest, I think whatever I might post would be under the "blahblahblah" category. I guess that's my bit. Study On Video Game Music - Volunteers Needed

I'm in! Lets rock this stuff! DJ Metal -
I intentionally hid the truth from myself so that I wouldn't go crazy from the wait. I had no idea until today that the US release is on the 12th. So now I only have to wait 2 more days! BWAHAHAHAHAH! DJ Metal

Has any one heard of the new live action dbz movie?
DJMetal replied to cfG-21's topic in General Discussion
The cheesier the movie, in this case, the better. I loved DB as kid, and I loved DBZ as a teen (no, I have no idea why, I just did). I think this movie will make me a happy guy, no matter how bad it is. Just like Speed Racer (though I'm not saying that was a bad movie). I'm not worried about plot or anything on this one. I mean, really, Dragon Ball was a glorified "Fighting Fighters" story with a giant monkey and a green dude, and Dragon Ball Z was about MARTIAL ARTS ALIENS BATTLING FOR GALACTIC SUPREMACY! To be honest, I don't know how the plot could get any worse from a critical stand point =D. But that don't stop me from loving it. And since this just supposed to be a Dragon Ball movie (not Z), if it has kung-fu fights, super moves, and some evil green guy, I'm down. Also, Chow Yun-Fat FTW. He can't fail as Roshi. DJ Metal -
Currently playing: Phoenix Wright 3: Trails and Tribulations - Good, but not as exciting as the first one IMO. <3 Godot. Grand Theft Auto 4 - Pretty, fun, long, and funny. Don't waste time on TV or Internet. Just do what GTA does best and you'll love this game. Chrono Trigger - Never beat it as a kid, so I'm playing through it now. I can see why everyone raves about it. It is STILL a good RPG. Dead Rising - Zombies. Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn - Not as good as the gameboy games =( I'm a busy boy! With all these games, it's a small miracle that I have time to study for finals. ...Oh, wait. DJ Metal

Banjo is Back! "Nuts and Bolts" detailed!
DJMetal replied to SwordBreaker's topic in General Discussion
I was a big fan of Banjo Kazooie, but never played Tooie. So I'm fairly excited. They had better to stick to what they know, though. If this turns into "Perfect Dark Zero", I'm gonna shoot somebody. -
Chrono Trigger - Dances of Wind, Sky, and Earth
DJMetal replied to DrumUltimA's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
<3 this track. I concur! SUBMIT! It has an awesome feel too it, and I really like the energy in it. There are a few points where not a lot is happening, but it fits in nicely with the rising and falling feel of some parts. A good job! DJ Metal -
My secret dream has always been to become a voice actor! This might be the shot I get to make it BIG! Or make it as a background character. Or maybe complain that I didn't get in. BUT NO MATTER WHAT! This is something I'll see through!

Cheesy/Horrible/Memorable Quotes In Video Games
DJMetal replied to TheSnowStorm's topic in General Discussion
Cao Cao from Dynasty warriors 3 (or was it 4?): "The enemy has summoned more IN-SECT-S" Peppy from starfox64 "Aim for the open spot!" "Use the boost to chase!" Soldier from Dynasty Warriors 5: "These boats are our path to GLORY! YAAAAAAA!" -
I have no real training, because I have no real motivation. I'd like to learn an instrument, but as it stands I've got Male Vocals: Baritone 1 year Piano: 6 months (yes, months) I can read sheet music (slowly and poorly), and I can sing (poorly). But I'm going to get back into it one day. By the time I'm 30 I swear I'll be able to play the piano competently.

ZOMG ANIME. If you want short (1-13 eps/movie): FLCL (you say it fooly cooly, I think) Paranoia Agent The BIG O Season 1 (I love you guys) The King of Fighters Animated movie (if you like crappy kung-fu stuff) Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust Gundam 08th MS Team Longer: (26ish) Cowboy Bebop The BIG O Season 1+2 Berserk I think that's about it. I HIGHLY recommend Big O and Paranoia Agent, but I love all of these. DJ Metal Edit: I should probably mention that all of these have great English voice acting, and all have pretty good Japanese voice acting, if you're more puritanical about these things. =D

Donkey Kong Country 2 'Roller Disco Coaster'
DJMetal replied to Tobagoat's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
To be honest, I like this remix. I like the feel of it, and smooth sound it has. But I agree that on several points it could be better. The ghosty sound at 0:41 really is kinda...wtf. It is brief enough and followed up by a strong enough sound that I don't mind it too much...but it kinda throws me off. I like it. But it's too subdued. That "punch" that Diseased talks about really needs to get in there. It's like riding in a car with friend who refuses to speed. You'll get where you need to be, and have a good time, but sometimes you just want to (or need to) kick it up. I'm not sure if this is good or bad, but I put the song on the background, and unknown to me, winamp was on repeat, so I heard the track like 4 times without realizing it. It has good flow and a consistent sound, but it all feels kinda "samey" at the same time. Anyways, that's my amateur opinion. Kudos on taking this on, making a pretty good remix, then throwing it the wolves (us) like this. It is a learning experience, and you're on the right track. Rock on! DJ Metal
