OCR01773 - Banjo-Kazooie "Malevolent Mansion"
DJMetal replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Holy crap. I've been waiting FOREVER for some more banjo kazooie lovin'. I really like the feel of this song. Which is to say, I like the blend of the original song with the somewhat more malevolent and "in your face" feel of the mix. GREAT JOB. -
Hearing a remix before the original...
DJMetal replied to SwordBreaker's topic in General Discussion
I've heard a good number of remixes and unfortunately haven't played lots of games that predate the N64 (yes, I know, for shame). I actually playing started BOTH Castlevania and Chrono Trigger because of remixes. Edit: Also Mega Man 2 -
For me this tune really gets rolling at 0:46. The background chiptune sound that starts at 0:29 and repeats every two-ish seconds until 0:46 with a break between 0:35-0:38 really gets to me. Probably personal preference, but it sounds too hard and throws the groove of the track off. But man, after it gets going, you have one catchy song going. Gotta say I like it. Edit: Just listened to the original, and I really like how well you've transferred orchestration back to chiptune.

OCRA-0010 - Radical Dreamers: Thieves of Fate
DJMetal replied to MechaFone's topic in Album Reviews & Comments
I love this album. If I could, I'd make Days of Summer V2 my theme song. I love pretty much every song on this one. Holy crap. I'd also like to say I have a special place in my heart for Thieves of Fate I totally dig the vocals. -
So I just looked at the first page of this thread, and there's only 1 song remaining! I'm so excited! Oh, I know "it's out when it's out"...BUT I'M STILL SO EXCITED!
-
Oh crap...my anticipation demon is coming out...it's saying stuff like "Remember the Blade movies...Remember Silent Hill: Homecoming..." I'm losing my cool! I need to stay optimistic! I just don't want to be let down again
-
I'm Vincent from Silent Hill 3. I'm pretty intelligent, love being alive, and frequently mess with cults that I might be a part of. I'm also hilariously voice-acted.
-
Oh, no I thought it fit the movie just fine. I wasn't complaining about the quality of the scene, I just thought the dialog was a little lacking compared to the rest of it.
-
Oh, like that's ever gonna happen =P
-
They are similar. Which reminds me...back in the day I was a huge Soul Calibur 2 player, and the "ninja" stage in that game had some similar music to naruto and sheena. The track is "Brave sword, Braver soul". Check it out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NhJfSuQNiw

I totally agree. I liked most of the stuff on this list, but is it the "top 10"? I dunno. I personally don't think so, but then again, with something as minimal as a "top 10" list, you're gonna have to leave something out. So I liked it for what it was, but took it with a grain of salt, I guess.
-
Hehe, I liked it pretty well. I wasn't a big fan of the "Codec exposition" in the beginning, but I can't complain...it was better done than most other stuff I've seen. Kudos!

I'm really looking forward to this movie. I feel like a total tool, but I actually read the comic because the trailer looked interesting, and I absolutely loved it. I'm hoping this movie turns out well. "No. Not even in the face of Armageddon. Never compromise." =D
-
I actually really like Joe Romersa...but I'd also love to hear a remix of this song. The instrumental version on here is pretty good in my opinion, but something more than a piano would be awesome too!

Advanced Wars: Days of Ruin - "Hope Never Dies - Brenner"
DJMetal replied to DJMetal's topic in ReMix Requests
Bumped again for great persistence. -
Bumped for awesome music. I'd love to hear some Advance Wars remixes. Particularly "Days of Ruin", but heck, I'll take anything.
-
I am also excited for this game. I loved Resident Evil, and I think I will love this.
-
I'm with Bleck. I will cry bitter tears of regret, then commit a solid genocide. Seriously, why would they do this? And yes, I know, for money...BUT WHY!? *Fanboy RAGE*
-
Happy Birthday, Mr. DJPretzel. Without you, I can honestly say I would be neither as happy nor productive as I am now. Best wishes for your engagement, and a happy birthday.
-
I totally agree. Avatar is the kind of show I kinda wish would go forever, but alas, if something must end, at least let it end gracefully. I still need to see the ending...so here's hoping.

I am unfortunately not here to discuss the finer points of the movie, just to joygasm over it, because I'm a gross fanboy. I actually really really liked the movie despite all of the hype about Heath Ledger. I like Heath Ledger, don't get me wrong, but I think a lot of people went to see that movie because of him, and not because it was going to be good/batman/whatever. But I was pleased. It felt way different from the first movie though. Way more almost real-lifeish instead of far away and removed in Gotham. =D But wasn't nearly as good as "Batman and Robin", am I right? DJ Metal

Being a person of inconsistent habits and tendencies, I didn't quite realize what had gone on in this thread until I came back and looked at it. SWEET JESUS. First and foremost, I would really like to thank everyone who contributed to this thread. I honestly feel like I'm more a informed (and therefore "better") person knowing about the whole argument and people's perspectives on video games. Seriously, thank you, everyone. I read all six pages of dialogue and I was blown away. The thoughts and opinions expressed herein are just what I was looking for. I'm happy that this being a rehashed, wordy, and possibly flame-war provoking thread didn't stop it's growth. So yeah, just wanted to say thanks. =D!! Oh, and I sign my posts out of habit. DJ Metal

I had the unfortunate honor of driving my friends around last night, and let me tell you: Firework smog as thick as my skull, little children everywhere, parked cars in places they shouldn't be, and drunken patriots EVERYWHERE. I'm lucky I survived the night. FOR AMERICA. DJ Metal

While this didn't come from a video game, the theme song from the "Super Mario Bros. Super Show!" is pretty awful. Also the track "It happened one night" from secret of mana. The song isn't that bad at first, but after 30 minutes on repeat, yes, it will drive you insane.

So, my friends, I have a question that has been bugging me lately. I strongly hold the belief that video games are (but maybe not always have been) an art form, and like any other art form, are getting really good at giving us messages, pushing the limits of the media on which they are displayed, telling a story, entertaining it's audience, and so on. But I get the feeling that not a lot of people in the general public would agree with me. The problem lies in the fact that video games are a very young art. Like other forms of art, you have to look at a game ask "What is it this game is trying to do?" I strongly hold the opinion that a game's first (but not necessarily only) goal should be to be fun. After that, it can do anything. It can be fun and wacky, fun and serious, fun and post-modern, whatever. It can be fun and just have a great soundtrack! But the reason I start this thread is to see if people on here agree with me: That at least some video games (if not all) would fall into the "art" genre of things (remember, not every painting is a Picasso and not every movie is a Spielberg.) I think so. DJ Metal
