  1. This is amazing. I love this mix so much. I really just love the acoustic vibe to it. This feels so wonderfully natural with that regular breathing rhythm to it. All in all, sheer amazing and beautiful. You both rock!
  2. Off the top of my head: StarFox - Fox/Andross Okami - Amaterasu/Orochi/Yami FF5 - Bartz/Exdeath Cheetahmen II - Cheetahmen/Dr. Morbis (o.k. I don't really know how this one'll work out but still...) Battletoads - Toads/Dark Queen Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance - Ike/Black Knight Metal Gear - Solid Snake/Liquid Snake/Revolver Ocelot Shadow The Hedgehog - Shadow/Black Doom
  3. Thank you all for the kind words, and it still feels awesome that I'm able to participate and contribute to this community any way I can. It's definitely been a December to remember for me. And I'm also glad for all those who were able to participate. Awesome job everyone!
  4. WHAMO! And just in time too. *keels over from exhaustion*
  5. O_O Wow. Astounding.... Honestly, I can't really think of anything to say that wouldn't be repeating something someone has already said. This mix encapsulates so many weighty subjects and is the product of true and honest feelings. It is obvious that time, effort, and love has went into this mix. And knowing the reasons behind this mix gives me a warm fuzzy feeling whenever I listen to this. Truly Beautiful. Thank you so much for all you've done and all that you do.
  6. I just listened to "This Heart" also by Destiny and the similarities are like whoa. Granted that they're by the same artist and that's to be expected, but still..... Like the other, a large portion of this mix is carried by the melody, and there is a lot of textures at play here too. It's a cool track because there's a lot going on here to keep the listener engaged. While I don't think its exactly ground breaking or explosively innovating, its still solid and worth checking out.
  7. Now this is sweet and emotional but without being excessive or over the top. It's juuuuuuuuust right. Texturally, this song isn't too complex and is primarily melody driven with the whistle carrying the melody. Still, this is a really relaxing song to listen to. This is definitely worth listening to.
  8. From what I understood Zircon got the second to last spot.
  9. I really like the intro and ending; it feels like some exotic dance music. Then Whamo! Guitars! Awesome Guitars! Plus they help the listener keep in mind that this is the source/baseline. There are a lot of textures constantly happening here in this mix: guitar solos, piano parts, melody driven parts, and so on. Making This is a really cool piece and one of Sixto's best.
  10. This feels like an not-quite-but-almost finished concept ethnic piece. The overall general feel to this is odd; I can't quite place my finger on any specific mood or atmospheric aspect. It does have a Western feel to it, the whistle is reminiscent of The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, the wind effects feel like some open prairie, the guitars feel like casual cowboy guitar strumming. I think I like this mix because of its uniqueness and its odd casualness. I also recommend this because to find something else like it would be a rare find.
  11. *sigh* >.< I don't really care for the lead bells; they feel too out of place and unnatural in this setting to me at least. (I suppose it was intended to be more of a xylophone feel...) Otherwise this would be an amazing track. Still the mood and atmosphere are amazing and right on the spot for being a jazz lounge track. All in all, it's not too bad of a track and still worth consideration.
  12. Ah... This reminds me of a music box from Paper Mario. I can appreciate what it's trying to do, the going for a bittersweet saccharine heartfelt feel, and, imo, it tries a little too hard. It is pretty good and tries to keep things varied, but this just isn't quite my style. I do recommend giving it a listen though.
  13. Ha. This is a cool little track. It's got a real simple, real cool, feel good groove going on. I can't really tell if that's some strange lead synth or a really off kilter flute sample, but either way I'm totally digging it. In the end, it's not a gigantic grandiose mega ultra fancy gig, but an uncomplicated grove that shouldn't be missed. Really my main complaint with it is that it's too short.
  14. This is a really cool track and I like the piano intro; It's mellow, melancholy, determined, and slightly sad. It really feels like an appropriate fighting theme. It conveys a attitude of "I'm having to fight you because I have to, not because I want to, and I will win." For some reason though, this feels exceedingly drawn out... Still though, I like this one a lot.
  15. I know how you feel. It just don't feel right to comment on this (and on a few others here, imo). This is one beautiful, nostalgia filled, transcendental trip. Vocals are simply, sheer amazing. This whole mix feels like some very comfortable, very familiar bed. It's like comfort food for the soul. The jazzy atmosphere is also very awesome. Dragon Song is a mix that absolutely should belong in everyone's playlist.
  16. This has an interesting yet overpowering industrial vibe. I admit that until the melody came in I was a little worried. Really the source melody is the only thing that gives any significant shape to the sound scape here; everything else would have been repetitive and very narrow. While this isn't earth shattering, it's still a good little mix worth checking out.
  17. The melody here seems to be like flowing over the drums. And that's a pretty cool image actually.... I know this has intentions of electronica, but this feels more specifically like orchestral meets hip-hop plus some electronica to smooth over the cracks and gaps. This song has a lighthearted and mellow grove that I like and the soundscape is nice, varied, and pleasingly melody driven. All in all, this is a really cool track that I wish I had known about sooner.
  18. It's just crazy how varied this track is. The soundscape is so in your face. At any given moment it could be slow, downplayed, and mellow and the next it might be highly energetic and fast paced with an airy flute like solo. The fact that any given section of this song feels very distinct yet the whole song feels so cohesive and just right is amazing. This comes so highly recommended.
  19. :3 LoL. I agree that this is some real smoothly oiled electronica and it's really cool. The intro is also awesome. It starts off hollow and fills itself in like a time lapse photography of a painter starting with a blank canvass. Texturally, this is very interesting; it just feels so continuous and solidified. Even while listening to a transition between sections, they don't seem like transitions, which is weird. As far as soundscapes, this does an whole lot while within extreme limits and that's pretty impressive. All in all, this is a really incredible mix that shouldn't be mixed.
  20. I have to admit I'm excited about this and eagerly await to see what happens. But I have a question about how the first round will be arranged: Will it just be a first come/first served (e.g. the first person who signed up versus the second, etc.) or will it be more thematically arranged (e.g. Bubble Man versus Splash Woman, Plant Man versus Wood Man, etc.)? Good luck to all who're participating .
  21. On a side note, this is one of my favorite mix write ups ever. As for the mix itself, it's really cool. It reminds me of like the theme to really ancient ruins. There's not much of an undercurrent of severity in the first half but it's there and lays the groundwork for the rest of the track. This mix develops in an interesting way too; the drums continue and enhance the tenseness that was only in trace amounts in the first half, which I would assume is a byproduct of the drum battle. I also like the textures here; at times its a holding-your-breath-walking-on-eggshells mood and others its an Indiana Jones-esque running away from the bolder type mood. All in all, this a really cool and unique mix and one of my new favorites.
  22. The more I listen to this, the more I like it. This mix puts the "heavy" in heavy metal. That feeling of slow weightiness permeating the mix really helps create a dire tense atmosphere. I also like the textures going on here, each with their own feel and syncing up at just the right moments. Also, this welcomely feels more melody driven than some other metal tracks I'm familiar with (which seems more propelled by sheer volume than anything else). This is a really, really cool mix that shouldn't be missed.
  23. This is one of those weird tracks that I've forgotten about because I had thought I had already decided one way or the other if I liked this one or not but apparently I hadn't. Looking back on my records, I haven't reviewed this one. Huh... Annnyway, I agree with OA for the most part on this track. The transitions feel really stop-go. Unlike OA, I don't care for the guitars or synths as much, but the piano work here is wonderful. Also there's a whole lot of things going on here which ensures that there is no repetitiveness whatsoever, and that's a really good thing. I also like general feel of this mix; it feels very well formed and well thought out. After dwelling on this, I do like this and recommend checking this out.
  24. Whoa. The echo/call & response effects here are really, really cool. And the fact that only half the musical elements are echoing in this mix make for a strange and unique sound scape and a really interesting listen. The mood here is darkly mellow, and not creepily darkly either but a warm comforting darkly mellowness. I agree that downbeat is one of the better words to describe this. Definitely a really unique and cool track.
  25. I love this mix because it's just so flavorful. It's like having one's own personal private solo concert out in some Japanese water garden. The atmosphere is so rich and textural; I mean I can almost actually trace out the flute in the air at times. I also love how a small 20 second clip was expanded into a three minute mix. LoL. Needless to say, this is a really cool mix that shouldn't be missed.
