  1. This one is very playful with layers of meta; it recognizes that this is an arrangement and takes the atmospheric storm samples and chunkily and tongue in cheekily blends them into the mix. This is an incredibly fun song to listen to because it takes so many liberties with the sound samples plus its got a nicely groove a happening. The only thing though is that it feels too short, though.
  2. Imo, this comes off a little too fast, too strong, and a little too mechanical; it's like "in your face. Wham!" Also the ending is also one of the most cop-out and unsatisfying endings I've heard in a while Pretty much this ^ It's just the source melody plus big band musical context, but since it does do what it intends to do, for that I salute this mix. While this is just an o.k. mix, I recommend passing on this one.
  3. Some of the main guitar parts feel strangely like they were from the Sonic Adventure 2 soundtrack, which lends this piece an odd sense of familiarity to me. o_O Anyway I do appreciate the stream sound effect samples to lend a bit of atmosphere and setting even though they sound a bit off. Still, while not the most varied track out there, this mix is still a fun listen. Plain and simply though, this is an rocking and amazing track.
  4. Oh wow. I feel like I got a "two for the price of one" remix. This is a really interesting because of the mood and tempo changes; it's like the entire mix is a whirlwind crescendo. First half is melancholy and well paced, then the chaos seeps in giving it a panicky, hurried feel, which as an immediate prelude to Vampire Killer seems so deliciously appropriate. Needless to say, this is an awesome mix.
  5. This mix has such wonderful textures. There's just so much energy and speed here that one can't get bored with it; there's just way too much going on here. Also this, I dunno, just has a wonderfully rainy forest atmosphere to it, somehow... lol. This is definitely one of my favorites from SotD and some of Morse's best work.
  6. It's like someone opened up Wily Wonka's Secret Internet Vault. Yay! Congrats on finding the cheap knock-offs of Disney movies by the way.
  7. Admittedly, when it was just acoustic guitar and synth, I was thinking how cooler it would be if we had a strictly acoustic guitar arrangement of the Mega Man 2 intro, but then about 1:10 into the mix happened. Completely rocking, yo. Simple, short, and really sweet. Completely perfect intro for its album.
  8. This one hasn't aged too well. It feels like everything in this mix has towels wrapped around it to muffle the sound, and everything seems to be going way too fast to feel natural (especially the drums. They feel too mechanical.) Still this is an interesting take on the Far Promise source and probably my favorite style yet from the flood, and it is an interesting piece from an earlier era. If you're looking for something else a little different, and don't really have much else to do, go check it out, else they're other mixes worth checking out first.
  9. Next to anything by COTMM, this is one of the strangest songs I've heard. 0_o As opposed to the other Far Promise flood, the melody is, ironically, actually lost, for the most part,in the rest of the mix. Meh... It's not really to good though; it feels like some bad attempt at urban free styling or something...
  10. This reminds me of ripples in a pond; the aftereffects of each note can be heard of echoing in a similar fashion. It also has a very lighly ice cave synth feel to it. Truthfully though, this is so repetitive and yet feels so strangely appropriate. It feels like background music, and it works as background music. Huh..... It's still an interesting listen, but it has this really unreconcilible (at least in my mind) trait of causing one to relegate this to the back of one's conscious mind. In the end, go check it out.
  11. This evokes an interesting atmosphere. The first part is reminiscent of some arid, "the world has moved on" type place, not quite a Sahara-esque place with unbearable heat, but just some dry dusty depot and this is how daily life runs. The atmosphere feels more desolate than strictly dark, but most of all this mix feels honest, telling realty as it is. Oh yeaaaaaaaaaaah.... this now jogged my memory of nighttime in Hyrule field in Twilight Princess except a little more industrial. Needless to say, this is an awesome track.
  12. Pretty much this ^ It has a really good ambient build up but never quite lives up to its potential... um.. potential? Also the vocal samples feel out of place. And yet... this mix still resonates with me a little. The background synths really remind me of arctic wind blowing. And the minimalist nature reminds me of some forgotten ice cave. I'd recommend at least listening to it once.
  13. BAHAHA, oh wow. The intro is like a giant inside joke and is an inspiration of pure genius. It really situates this mix in an amazing context. I also like how the Latin flair is extended into the actual arrangement part too. Also the sax work here is amazing. This is so worth everyone's time and effort to download and listen to.
  14. While this is interesting because of the panning/sound placement, that's about it. This is just beats plus source melody and that's it. No more, no less. As consequence, there's better stuff out there. Nothing much to see (or hear) here.
  15. \m/ Probably one of the most epic 5 minutes of all time. Just as this is undeniably rock, this is undeniably awesome. If you haven't downloaded this yet, For Shame! You are missing A LOT. *starts busting out the air guitar*
  16. My main complaint against this is that the melody isn't to prominent; it feels buried deep in the mix. Also, while this is what I would describe as a narrow sounding mix, an impressive amount of stuff happens in there, and that's really, really cool. It's really interesting to here all the variations possible within a given set of limitations. It makes for a rare and interesting listen. Ultimately, I really like this mix a lot.
  17. I really like how some of the synths have a dulled feel to them while others are are sharp/electronic. :3 This strike really nice balances between fast & slow and being conservative & going flat out crazy. In a Goldilocks-esque manor, this is juuuuuuuuust right. All in all, this is just a funkily fun, "get yo groove on", "have a good day" mix.
  18. Don't really care for this one, it just feels way too overly simplistic, not to mention repetitive. Also the soundscape is probably the narrowest I've ever heard. Move along, nothing to see here.
  19. This mix has the same mood as the Hidden Palace zone from Sonic and Knuckles. That plus the driving percussion equals pretty cool overall general feel to this mix. Short yet grand, this definitely feels like the theme for the beginning of some great quest. At the least, it's really worth a listen.
  20. This seems to me like something that'd be played at some fancy garden party. Trying to ignore a few glitches in the sampling and some of the piano work, it's not too bad, more or less. It does feels a little stuffy and repetitious due to it's background feeling status. Ultimately, I'd rate it as an o.k. mix' not too good, but neither too bad.
  21. Everything here feels so mellow and relaxing, telling the listener to slow down for the world will still be there tomorrow, which owes a lot to do with the minimalist approach. This feels like it was composed with the meticulous precision of a painter. Each measure feels like a carefully chosen stroke of color, each having their own meaning and purpose. Nothing has gone to waste here. 'Tis a really nice mix.
  22. Dang, this is awesome. I really love the tuning into the correct radio station intro; it really adds context and personality to the mix. This mix was a blast to listen to. Things constantly change a lot in this mix but not at such a pace that the listener can't keep up with. Also this just feels so patently Sega, I mean I can't really imagine this being blasted out from anything other than a Sega Genesis. Also the guitars here are amazing. Thank you Luiza for finally caving in and submitting this.
  23. Agreed and I won't rehash that here. This mix reminds me of the scene in It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown where Snoopy, as the WWI flying ace, has already been shot down and is crossing the French countryside by night. This mix also even has a similar mood to it, a uniquely mellow, slightly dire, "searching the night" feel to it. Ultimately though I'm ripping out my hair trying to decide if I like this or not; it does just as many things right as wrong. >.< My recommendation is just go see for yourself.
  24. I really like how this has a quasi-serious, thoughtful mood to this piece. Not quite emotionally or reminiscing-ly based, but simply highly thought provoking. Listing to this has made me feel oddly centered. I also like how fanciful the arrangement sounds and admittedly how liberal the arrangement is. It just feels like a breath of air to hear something as fresh and mellowly whimsical (especially after listening to some of the older remixes for a while, if you know what I mean. ) Needless to say, this is an amazing debut mix. Congrats Xenon.
  25. Initially this feels very... twinkly. Those background synths feel really repetitive, especially late in the song. I really feel this chains down the melody and makes it very narrow and not to interesting to listen to. And the more I listen to this, the more I realize there is very little variation in this mix; there's really only the main melody repeated about twice and a background layer of synths. In the end, I guess it's ai'ite, but I don't really recommend it.
