  1. By and large it's chronological, but there are exceptions made with a small window of time variance (mixes 1-2 months apart) to facilitate variety. Specifically: When posting mixes from published albums, we like to pair them up with something NOT from an album We try to avoid posting multiple mixes from the same game/artist back to back Occasionally (we've cut back on this) we post "special event" mixes for holidays. game anniversaries, etc. Other than that, we go chrono, we're gonna kick it in to overdrive to catch up in Q1 2013, and your mix should be posted this year.
  2. I stand by my comments; nothing about your "I wish I could like this, but I'm not deaf" statement warranted anything other than outright dismissal. With a single comment you managed to offend at least two demographics. You've doubled down, which some people might find admirable I suppose, but your intolerance towards entire genres of music - yes, music - and your expectation that your comments should somehow carry more weight, and your comments about "correcting" your students' "terrible taste" further seal the deal. This is either an elaborate attempt to troll, or a very frightening prospect for whichever students you manage to influence. I'm all for opening minds to classical music, but it's not a zero-sum game - it doesn't have to come at the expense of any other genres, and when you insist that it does, you lessen music itself in the hearts & minds of anyone impressionable enough to believe you. Please think that over a bit, for everyone's sake.
  3. Flex graced that review with a response, but for the record, I'm not sure it deserved one. At least not point-for-point, which suggests that an analysis of any weight was being put forth. We are absolutely not interested in catering, kowtowing, or compromising for people who: Are rude & belligerent ("I'd like to enjoy it, but I'm not deaf"), Are closed-minded & dismissive (OMFG DUBSTEP ISN'T MUSIC - you *really* wanna be on the restrictive side of an argument about what is or is not music?), and... Apparently have odd hangups about drug usage & "stoners" and insist on reading between the lines far too much and thinking that their values are the only TRUE values that should be represented (aka intolerant) As site owner, I prefer to think that we're making music for the whole world to enjoy, and that VGM speaks a universal language, and that we should at all times have the tastes & interests of EVERYONE in mind, but frankly... there are some small exceptions. Can you legitimately dislike this album for all sorts of reasons? I'm sure one could; I certainly don't, I've made that clear, but I allow it within my sphere of understanding that taste is subjective. This is not an epiphany of any great magnitude. However, this type of individual is not who we're aiming to please, and I might go even further and assert that I'm proud to DISPLEASE such an audience, which apparently we have. I shudder to think that these qualities are held by any sort of educator.
  4. There's a lot of stuff out there on the web, but culling the good from the bad is part of what I think you're getting at... I'm thinking that the addition of blogs to the site will help address that at some point, but also that upgrading the forums and allowing youtube & soundcloud embeds will also help. The main problem is one of curation; we need someone willing to put in a lot of hours & time towards building something out, and proposing a logical structure for the presentation of such information, with usable navigation. We can think outside the box on this a bit, because I think part of the problem might just be with presentation - forums can seem a bit unstructured, whereas a dedicated page that including onsite and offsite references might facilitate a layout that was more intuitive.
  5. I do? No I don't... Hey, how come SNESology gets a link in the KS description and we don't? I feel snubbed!
  6. Wish there would have been some in-game footage, but.... backed it! Love those character designs, would love a game that gets action RPGs right the way Secret of Mana did, etc. Looking forward to it!
  7. Please use your own site & community to solicit feedback and refrain from spamming ours; what would otherwise be a genuine line of inquiry is pretty transparently just advertising. This isn't the first time we've pointed this out, so please keep it in mind going forward.
  8. Dan's provided higher quality encodings of some his excellent & iconic mixes and we'll be adding them to the site once they're tagged, and including them in a future torrent update as well!
  9. [19:11] <@djpretzel> we need a sonic CD album that arranges both the USA & Japanese soundtracks [19:12] <Bahamut> haha there's one that just started [19:12] <Bahamut> http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=41757 I'm FULLY behind this effort - here's hoping everyone involved blows it out of the water!
  10. No but we'll consider this as we work towards upgrading our forums!
  11. We'll consider eventually adding something... for OC ReMixes, specifically. On OC ReMix. And perhaps SoundCloud & Tindeck, too. And YouTube.
  12. Obviously I dig it, but w/ regard to the "out-of-tune" comment, I *will* say that I think some vibrato on the solo violin would have 1. sounded nice and 2. avoided any real OR perceived pitch issues. Then again, I love me some vibrato, so maybe that's just my answer to everything...
