  1. Brandon, thanks for the info. I'm personally requesting that artists hold on to their work until we can sort this all out. An official release is still possible, and that is very much our goal and my desire, there just need to be several conversations beforehand to make that possible.
  2. Stevo's initial conversation with Arek today unfortunately shows no remorse or acknowledgment that he did anything wrong. I again want to be clear, posting people's music without their permission is an offense that warrants a permanent ban. I don't understand the disconnect here, but I want to speak with Arek myself as soon as possible. I recommend to all artists who've contributed their time & energy to this album to send Arek an email explicitly indicating that they do not want their music released like this. It shouldn't need to be said, it should have been understood implicitly, but this is the situation we're now in. Please post a reply here indicating you've done this. halc is OCR staff, halc assisted with direction, and if the current director is not only abdicating, but willfully going against the wishes of artists and releasing their music without consent, halc may need to take over as director to see things through to a proper conclusion that respects the artists involved. I'd like to find a solution that ALSO respects Arek's wishes, but he's making that extremely difficult right now.
  3. Well, I want to be clear. Album directors do have a lot of power, and if they want to step down at any point, that is of course their decision. Integrity & respect for contributors would suggest that they at least consider a replacement director, i.e. handing things off to someone else for the last mile, which has worked well on several albums. What they absolutely cannot do is simply release everything in the middle of the night, via some other channel, without artist consent. It's shitting on the men & women who contributed to the project in the first place, it violates the trust they placed in the album's leadership, and it's fundamentally disrespectful to anyone & everyone - including OCR staff - who gave their time & energy towards a successful release. I want to make all of that completely clear; it's possible this was some sort of existential crisis or severe lapse of judgment on Arek's part, and that he sees why this action was wrong. If he doubles down and insists that he should have the right to release other people's music whenever and wherever he chooses, without their permission, he has no place here. I'm obviously hoping for the former event, in which case I'm also hoping work on the album can continue towards an official release. I hate drama.
  4. The album is NOT cancelled. Arek has taken an action without consulting staff OR any of the artists on this album. He has released your music without your consent, and if he does not remove the content he made available immediately, he will be banned from this community permanently. Releasing someone else's music is a delicate process based on trust, and while album directors have a great deal of power, they don't get to decide when and where to release music that they didn't make, without consulting the artists who made it. We will work towards resolving this matter today.
  5. Great track but Jesse's right on the money regarding the timing on those rhythm guitars - this is too good a mix not to see if Michael can address the problem. The high frequencies on the violins I can live with, personally, but the disjointed rhythms - most noticeable at 0'30" - really compromise what is otherwise a mix I'd love to see featured on the site.
  6. I cried at Larry's game. He insisted he had it, but we all suspected it was never there.
  7. Lovin' that intro - could have built a whole arrangement around that! Agreed with Larry - after the intro, things go into a piano arrangement of the source that, while technically fine, is basically a straight cover. With solo piano (or any solo performance) I think you need to do a little bit more to "make it yours" - that creativity and personalization in the intro needs to be present throughout, not quarantined. I don't normally vote, and while I'd love to hear a resubmission that explores the slower, more interpretive intro a bit more and adds more personalization to the faster bits, for now it's a NO
  8. Just to play devil's advocate for a second... isn't this more or less how Steam works, and don't people more or less love Steam? I know I do... perhaps I don't hold the same expectations for a PC-based service that I do for a console, but that line has been blurring more and more...
  9. Ah Tony, Tony... you've got live drums... they've got LADIES. They win Sorry I missed this live but the vids are great stuff.
  10. We can do better than that... V6 will actually make source youtubes accessible directly from mix pages, when available. So you won't even need to check the thread ETA is 1-2 months out.
  11. Watched the first two episodes w/ Anna yesterday and this morning... we're digging it. The fourth wall exposition works ONLY because it's Spacey, who's reprising the Southern accent he rocked in Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil. As with Fallout 3, I almost feel obliged to stick with it JUST because it's DC and I live 30 minutes away from & am familiar with a lot of the sights & sounds. That alone wouldn't be enough, but the show seems to have a lot of depth; I'm interested in seeing where they take his wife's (Princess Buttercup!) NPO subplot, and how it links into everything else, for instance. As far as "mature" themes go, the hype seemed to suggest a lot of risque stuff that even HBO or Showtime (!!) might not be cool with, but so far it seems more like an AMC show that happens to have some F-bombs and boobies. Not really a problem for me, just seemed kinda silly to focus on that angle with the PR, based on what I've seen thus far.
