  1. It was well produced I won't fault it there. But to be completely honest with you... I didn't feel anything from this. Its WAY too clean. I was bored the whole way through and this song never spoke to my heart. My soul felt nothing and It usually feels something when I get good dubstep going. I know this isn't a real review. And objectively this is pretty good but, its really not doing it for me. It bores me... The ending however, was somewhat cool.
  2. I seen the title of the thread and I was like, "Oh awesome... But wait! What happened to number three?!" After hearing it... and eargasming. I can only imagine the amazing nature of the current piece.
  3. Hey there. Didja give up on the project?

  4. At first I was like. "Oh hell no. Not another Still Alive cover." Then I was like. "BWOASHEET! This is rad." Really well done job on this guys. Had a bit of a weak part near the beginning with the intro, but it works well. 1:00 - 1:03 sounds a little bit more off than it should. But otherwise. Awesome as hell. Good job.
  5. Not to be a dick. But I really don't think this is anywhere near submission quality. To be frank Its kinda annoying to me. The arrange needs work. The piano sounds great as a sample. But It doesn't feel like it works. The whole thing is overmechanical. Its not really... that spectacular. It didn't go anywhere. Bleh. Somebody else look at this?
  6. Yes the house song is called Safety. Its Sue's theme. Now overall I can tell right away that you put work into the mix and I am assuming you made this as A midi and imported into mixcraft. it would have to be by the way it sounds. First off. The arrange itself is pretty great. I love where this takes me, its a really stellar arrange. I love the second and third movements. ESPECIALLY the third movement which to me is just magic. But what irked me about this the most? Three things. Mixcraft has this TERRIBLE issue of throwing extra reverb on everything. It makes everything sound kinda... well... not too great to put it VERY lightly. Second I get the feeling you used the default VSTs that came with this. I suggest going out and getting some better VSTs, or since you are working off a midi, use a better program for this such as synthfont 1.425. http://www.synthfont.com/Downloads.html You can get it here. Simply import the VSTs and SF2s you wanna use into it. With a little bit of work, this program is Deceptively powerful and can crank out some pretty awesome renders. Alternatively just get some better VSTs. In terms of Mixcraft standard vsts, on the main effects channel bus, add in the Classic Compressor and set it to the "Mix Down" Setting before exporting as MP3. I also suggest tacking on this lovely little gem here, called Cadence. http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?plugin=Cadence&id=869 Doing that will help you with mixcraft's tacked on clutter. Don't use default presets either for the instruments that come with mixcraft. Make your own. Lastly, the song itself. It definitely has its merits, but there were a few weak moments. The transitions are nice but, near the ending, that fourth part, the fourth transition after the deep orchestral part ends and it ramps back up into the regular speed, something just seems off about having that section again. Its practically a dupe of the second movement. My overall so far 6/10. Fix the VST effects you are using, use better samples if you can *don't worry bout the timpani its great* and give this piece the ending it deserves.
  7. I was loving this but one thing irked me about this and it completely ruined it for me. It goes nowhere. Its like an endless intro. Its gritty and dirty and I LOVE how sludgy it feels but man, make it GO somewhere.
  8. Damn man... I never thought this song could sound this way. Its so good...
  9. I'll be mighty surprised if this doesn't get in. This is pretty awesome feeling. It has a nice buildup, great feel from the vocals, the drums are fantastic, AND it's my favourite genre. This couldn't possibly, to me at least, get any better... Oh wait it's Cave Story... +30 awesome points. It just got better.
  10. Well, you had me on with you all the way up to the end... When the final set of drums come in, well it ruins it I think personally. The Timpani is just way too obnoxious to be enjoyable.
  11. I was liking it for the most part... But that synth lead is a MAJOR issue for me. I am lucky I was only listening through my speakers... What is that synth anyway? I don't think it matters really actually now that I've thought on it. I just think it's too cheesy, too much like a really poor synthvoice. Get some better samples in that area. It does start out fine however, and does grow on you, but I think you could really benefit from changing that synth.
  12. Y'know what I found is a really hard thing to get? Bagpipes and Chanters. Seriously, anyone know of some VST or Soundofnts of Bagpipes/Chanters that DON'T cost me 300 Billion dollars?
  13. I downloaded and I have to say some of these tracks kick ass. In the unfinished section, I found the track, "Slidin' & Cruisin' Live" I couldn't help singing along to the way the song was set up. Wrote some lyrics for it. I was heavily amused. Anyway, this is coming along very very nicely frankly, a little more work is needed though on a lot of the tracks and I found I liked some of the WIP tracks more than the official finished tracks.
  14. I enjoyed a lot of the album overall. Frankly it's good. That said, I'm really surprised at some of the songs that actually got in to it, and frankly I thought they weren't really up to par with a lot of the songs I know OCR is so famous for. A good example of this is for sure, the Jigglypuff Song. Now I am a sucker for vocal tracks, and an accapella is cool, but the song was way too short, it had very little deviation from the source material at all, and frankly the song choice was kind of awkward. What didn't surprise me at all, but was still a bit of a disappointment, was still the fact that almost all of the source material is taken from the very first games, Red and Green. Not that Red and Green had bad music, its just that later games in the series such as Ruby and Sapphire and Diamond and Pearl, which had beautiful tracks in them basically never got a chance to shine at all, the songs chosen for remix for Diamond and Pearl being some of the most lackluster. Except of course route 225 which is generally awesome, which still could have been better if they'd based the remix off of the Night edition of the song; but then again that is really just me being nitpicky. Ruby and Sapphire had an amazing soundtrack *Cough*Route 113, The Abandoned Ship* and personally has the best one in the series, so I was a bit saddened to see that not get played with, but to each his own. I did love the fact that you included the Dewford song. Makes up for the lack of others. Really it does, because it's without a doubt one of the best. I have to say I enjoyed the album, but some of the tracks, "My Greatest Rival" (which is just silly,) and "Jiggly Choir" (which is beautiful but way too short... wait a minute most of them are short; but... okay this one is REALLY short) for example being examples of missed opportunities. I know, I know, I enjoy stuff by Star Salzman, how can I be hating on "My Greatest Rival?" well, i think that it doesn't have the charisma that it should for this kind of track really. "Divine Olivine", "Blue Haze", "Casino Lounge", and "Shades of Red" are perfect examples of what is definitely right with this album. Oh and the saxophone in "Viridian Vibe" and "May I have this Swords Dance" is just sexy. Just sayin. Coincidentally I'm not griping about how short the opening of the album is because that IS the opening of the album and as an intro it is more than likely meant to be short. Besides it bridges into the second song and works well. 7.5/10 More hits than misses. The length for some of the songs should probably be increased.
  15. I'm actually gonna come out and asy I actually love the way the vocals are slightly off at then end. It's probably just me, but I like it.
  16. Not trying to seem like a jerk, but I can't be the only person who noticed the resemblance to Porcelain by Moby.
  17. Still looking for better samples, I know what you mean. More source in next cut.
