  1. I completely agree with Dhsu and AkumajoBelmont, Grandia 2's soundtrack is amazing. Noriyuki Iwadare is very underrated.
  2. Super Bomberman - Boss Music I played this game many a time when I was younger, usually doing co-op with my bro. The theme is perfect for a boss battle, its truly epic, but it remains funky and catchy which fits in with the general feel of the game.
  3. Expanding on what Nutritious said, the main things to consider are velocity, timing and note length. Also, depending on the instrument randomizing the pitch by small amounts can help (not piano though). It sounds pretty good so far but I think it could be even more dynamic. You could also use crescendo's and diminuendo's.
  4. I don't fully understand your question. Are you wondering whether its legal to actually sell remixes, or are you just wanting to know some good sites to sell music from?
  5. So are you using the Yamaha DGX-505 to trigger midi events inside FL Studio or are you playing it on its own?
  6. I will have to agree with jabond and Gario. You've got a good ear to recreate these covers pretty accurately. But I think you should give remixing a go aswell, it allows you to be more creative.
  7. The youtube link he provided is the remix. Not sure about the other one.
  8. Great article man. Hopefully this will give some good insight into the vgm scene for those who are new to it. Looking forward to part 2.
  9. Wow that's really good. You should rename yourself the 8bit Dj . I don't know the source too well, so I won't comment on the arrangement right now. But the production is pretty decent. P.S I love your website, did you make it?
  10. Hey there, this sounds like an interesting concept for a remix project. As a fan of Zelda music, I wouldn't mind joining in.
  11. It's a good start. I see you've also added in some parts of Gerudo valley, but transposed to a different mode to fit in with the twinrova theme. I look forward to hearing the next revision.
  12. To the mod with name changing powers, please can I be renamed "Sbeast" Cheers
  13. ADSR Stands for Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release. There's a nice explanation here [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synthesizer#ADSR_envelope ] By humanize, I mean to try and make some of the instruments sound more human, as opposed to fake sounding samples. You can achieve this through a number of methods, all nicely explained here [ http://www.zirconstudios.com/tutorial2.php ] This song is making progress, but could still be improved.
  14. Yes, this needs a like more interpretation in the arrangement. Develop the melodies, change the rhythms, add a new chord progression, are some examples. Production isn't too bad though. But there is some slight distortion when all the instruments come in, might wanna bring the volumes down a bit. It's a good first attempt, just needs some more original input and to use a limiter. Also posting a link to the original song helps people to review it. [ ]
  15. Yeah I agree, I think I'll be more adventurous and original in my next remix.
  16. Seagulls need moar reverb. Joking aside, this is a pretty funky, chilled out remix. It definitely has that retro sound you were going for. However, I think the drums could be mixed a bit better. The kick and snare seem quite distant and could use more punch. I'm not familiar with the source, so I can't comment on the arrangement just yet.
  17. Yeah, getting sampled instruments to sound real is pretty hard at first, but rewarding once you know how. If you haven't already done so, check out Zircons tutorial.
  18. Ok, well its your choice in the end. You could still submit it just to get some valuable feedback from them, even if it isn't accepted.
  19. I think production seems to be the main problem with this one. The acoustic guitar sticks out as sounding very midi. The piano does at times too. Theres some nice creative ideas though, such as the use of the vibraphone, and you developed the bass line at parts too. Is that an oboe or clarinet by the way? Well its a good start, you just need to practice making some of the instruments sound more real. Either find some better samples, or try using humanization techniques.
  20. Pretty conservative arrangement, although I hear some new riffs added here and there. I actually liked the addition of vocals, they seemed to fit pretty well. It sounds like all the instruments were real, so it has that raw live feeling to it. The ending needs to be fixed though.
  21. http://www.freesound.org/ Would be a good place to start. Also Google is your friend http://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&&sa=X&ei=dDNwTPjeEY_Z4gaD-aXTCQ&ved=0CCIQBSgA&q=free+sound+effects&spell=1&fp=67d5d5d61e9a0270
  22. This is where you post to get feedback from the forum members and the Workshop Moderator's. To actually submit a song to the ocr judges check this page: http://ocremix.org/info/Submission_Standards_and_Instructions I think your medley is too conservative (too similar to the source) to be submitted at the moment. Also it sounds quite midi at the moment, not too much humanization happening. Like your other metal medley, theres some nice song choices which seem to flow together quite nicely. The Duke Nukem quotes were a nice touch aswell, although some people might think it was too much. If your serious about subbing this to ocr, there needs to be more original interpretation of the themes, aswell as getting the instruments to sound more real. But great job so far!
