Brooding choir? Check. Evil electric guitar? Check. Hard hitting percussion? Check. Menacing breakdown followed by a killer solo? Damn straight! This is very much the definition of solid as all hell heavy metal and perhaps my favorite take on Mako Reactor that I've heard thus far. Yeah, sure, there are nitpicks to be had here and there and I personally wasn't a fan of the almost sudden end, even though it was built up properly the way most metal endings are after the solo, but all in all, this was a very kick ass ReMix and I quite liked it.

Ok, cool, yeah I totally dig this. Taking a theme that sounded like nice easy backwoodsy stroll and giving it a bit of a tropical kick with some orchestration and a bit more energy was a great choice. I've never really had a problem with mixes that are more conservative so long as they get some form of interpretation somewhere, and I feel like the style and some of the samples do enough of that for me here. I really liked how the percussion and flute played off each other in the end, and all around this was a pretty upbeat mix that complements the original track while having it's own moment. Nice!

Ah, yes, love the Rhodes piano work done here, and that guitar playing was so good! To be fair, the original Dire Docks tune and many mixes that come from it are beautiful pieces, but I think I truly enjoy more rock-out style versions of it like this one where the guitar is played at a higher tone with a more playful and enthusiastic speed. Awesome solo, really fun arrangement and a slightly harder style of Dire Docks that is really up my alley, I can't give this anything less than five outta five stars. Damn fine stuff, fella!

The emotion in a solo piano ReMix is just as important to sounding great to me as the actual playing and arrangement of it, and luckily Rexy nails all three with amazing results. Everything flows together so cohesively and the switch-ups were pretty sweet and kept me interested for the whole ReMix, which is nice for a longer mix like this. Such a beautiful piece, good work Rexy!

"It's a relatively liberal mix, so at times you might feel like you're listening to a remastered version of a Sonic OST and not an SMB arrangement" I really had to laugh and agree when I read this, because I had JUST thought the same thing while listening to this ReMix. Even though it's not the same tune, musically and feeling-wise, I got a Casino-like vibe off this mix. The switching back and forth between the World 1 map and Athletic was done extremely well, and even without the breakdown I could hear both sources, so great job on taking this in a new direction while maintaining the originals so that they were recognizable. Not the typical Willrock style that I know him the most from, but still a fantastically funky mix with tight production, good writing and a clean, cool sound. Definitely putting this one on my Ipod.

I'll just call it what it is, it's a comedy thing and less of a serious music song obviously, and for that, well, that comes down to the listener's taste in humor. Personally, I've heard far too many songs like this to be bothered and I actually think it's funny (mostly because it hits the joke and then ends all within a minute). And still, I'll give credit where it's due: small issues on the first few notes aside (which actually sound more like a recording bug than the actually guitar to me), the guitar playing reminded me of some Stephan Lynch songs in it's quick acoustic style, and is still far better than I could ever do, so well done on that. Lyrics sounds like that old game where kids take a famous song and replace every other word with "butt" or something. It's funny, and it makes me smile, and sometimes, that's all you really need from a song. Plus, vocal dubs and chipmunk run-ins for the win!

I don't think this is terrible, not by a long shot. In fact, I think I would go as far as to say that the low-fi arrangement style and keeping it as a short little ditty probably helped keep it relatively fun. I kinda dig lowfi funky hip-hop sounds, so on that level, it works for me. It is an older ReMix, and it seems even DJP himself wasn't over the moon with this one, but while I may not love it, there was nothing on this mix that really irritated me to the point of complaining about it. Any nitpicking aside, sounds like a decent older mix.

Jesus, dude! This is absolutely wonderful, from the soft, damn near heroic opening, the awesome electric guitar playing (especially when you really open up in the later half of the ReMix) that kept the original tempo (or at least close to it) and the easy outro, this is how a metal Terra ReMix is done. This is the kind of energy that I think the original Terra theme could have really used to take it another notch, so I'm glad to hear it here. Truly enjoyed this one, great ReMix!

Wow. This is a gem, that's for sure. Such a somber and solemn atmosphere, I can almost feel the cold wintery winds off this ReMix. It's beautiful and haunting, definitely one of AmIEvil's best rearrangements. Fantastic.

The quirky Burton-like arrangement and cartoony sound was highly amusing and I gotta say, I quite enjoyed it for that. It is a bit short, but for the minute and forty seconds, there was nothing that got on my nerves or put me off at all, so from a 2000's mix standpoint, this is one of the better one's I've heard, and if remade to today's standards and given more time to grow and expand, I bet this would be incredible and super fun (well, more fun than it already is, I mean). Nice work!

Oooooh, eh, wow. This one got me giggling from how hilariously offbeat the whole thing was comparing the musical foreground and background along the shrill samples that made up the main melody. I will give it props for at least having a key change at the ending, but there is not enough in either production (obviously taking age into account) or arrangement for me to say that I'd have this for my cup of tea.

Well, this is a weird one. It does seem like an experiment on effects and while it's age is showing something first, for what it is and when it came, it didn't make me cringe, so perhaps the offbeatness of it all just wasn't enough to turn me off of it. Seems to me like it was just pulling itself together right at the end, and it's a shame that there wasn't more to it. Reminds me a lot of early to mid-90's computer games set in a futuristic setting, so the sound fits it's style, and having played many of those when I was younger, the thought made me smile, but beyond that, can't say I loved this one.

It certainly does stick close to the original, which in and of itself is not a bad thing, but it was a bit too close here. The extra drum touches makes this sound like an upgraded version of the original, and while it could have used a little more in the arrangement aspect, it was far from terrible in the sound department. The voice clips were a nice way to fill the space for the breakdown, and ending with a slow atmospheric sound was nice as a way to ease out to the end.

I'll just go ahead and agree with most everyone else that FFmusic Dj has done much better work since this ReMix, but I can say that at least the source was recognizable and that the techno beat at least followed it for the most part. As a fan of even the most basic of electronica and such, I don't hate this one, but yeah, the ReMixer sure has grown leaps and bounds since this. Nice early effort though, and I'm glad this mix at least got a fade ending instead of an abrupt one, so good on ya there.

Okay, yes, this is better to me and a step in the right direction from where the original mix left off. Still has some issues with the distortion being a bit too fuzzy (by a tick, though, it didn't bug me that much, but it is noticeable), and it's still pretty short with a quick ending, but I enjoyed this more than the original mix. With a more evil industrial sound and the cool reverse notes and panning effect that is really awesome with headphones as the sound goes in one bud and out the other, this is much better to me arrangement-wise.

Much like Necrox, I liked the marimba with it echoing along to a deeper, bassier and more sinister sounding version of the Bubble Bobble theme. Much like a lot of older OCR tracks, this suffers from older production issues, but I absolutely love the idea behind it and would be behind bringing this idea to life with today's standards. Polished up and made longer by having some different sections, I think a dark Bubble Bobble mix would kick ass. Not bad for an early CotMM entry.

Ooohhh, eeeh, esh. That piano being super midi and clashing so damn hard with the electric blips on not just sound but tempo, is rough. I'm sorry, but not a fan of this one. Just too much clashing going on for me.

Damn man, so smooth and chill. Everything is awesome in this mix, although my only issue is the ending, where it just kinda stops outta nowhere. Other than that though, McVaffe did some nice work here, especially in the production. Good stuff.

Good god, Virt! That rendition of Chill with that funky bass........that was straight up incredible, and then to bring in Fever with with a ska-fuel beat and a sweet keyboarding sound was awesome. I do agree that the transition was a little bit off in that it really made this almost a tale of two ReMixes, but eh, when both sides of the tale kicks this much ass, I can deal with one little thing for a whole bag of great music. Unreal production for the time, and a lot of good writing. This is why you're the man, Jake. Shine on, dude.

To be honest, I'm not even all that much of a Metroid fan, but I do hear Brinstar vaguely and I see the intentions of this mix. Whether those intentions were fulfilled is up to each individual listener, but for the time that this was made, I think I would have liked this in it's prime. The organ may have been the best part to me in the way it added to the mix. It's like the glue that kept me with this for the whole two and a half minutes. Not my favorite from Franz, but a nice mix all the same.

Wow, you know, I've heard this source before in other media, but I hadn't realized it was from Xenogears until now. Cool effects with the synthlines and the gating. All the distortion and effects on the vocals was an interesting experience to hear, and while there were points where I thought it could have been clearer or didn't sit right with me, overall I enjoyed the experimentation and variation in it. Not bad at all.

I love this ReMix. Everything about Ryu's theme is just as iconic as he is, and managing to work in his 3rd Strike theme while embellishing the best parts of his original theme with some laid-back but energized electronic beats is sweet. Nice use of vox and the voice clip, which were welcomed additions and the strings in the end really brought out the beautiful orchestration that you used to balance the mix. All over, this is awesome and probably one of my favorite ReMixes off the album.

This really is catchy and fun to listen to. Nice blend of electronica and some chiptune inspired elements.I actually enjoy the retro vibe of this mix, but I do have to agree that more of the piano and a bit of a sound update would have made this incredible. Plenty of great ideas and the arrangement is damn good. Liked this one a lot, actually. Nicely done.

Now this is a cool ReMix. Any kind of western theme done right sounds great to me and this mix does well to balance the sense of grand adventure and forlorn wilderness. Would have loved for the jawharp to not be so loud and out in front the whole time, but it still added to the mix rather than take from it, so I won't pick at it any more. Nice work, dude!

For a ReMix, it doesn't sound horrible or anything (aside from the Sax), but I have to agree with the other reviews on this one. It's different, but not so much that it could keep any interest if it had been any longer than it was. The drums were pretty set in their ways and all in all, I just didn't dig this one as much as I could have. Sorry, fella.
