  1. I think if you doubled the amount of time you spend on that intro before the groove and gradually fade into it that should serve you better. Use some LP filters to knock off some highs to make it cloudier and distant then when the groove hits go full on for clarity. Reverse cymbal never hurt either. Just keep it quiet so people don't realize they are listening to a cliche.
  2. Organ. Trail. If you had Oregon Trail in the computer lab at school it's like that... but with zombies. Also has a ridiculous 15 card collection.
  3. That's pretty cool. Sight reading well (and not just setting yourself up for failure type of sight reading) is a skill that takes a lifetime to develop. Or at least many many years. However I really think this is piano insanity. just wait until he starts playing the violin with his mouth.
  4. Slight change in the lineup for The Average Joes. I'll be doing this round. Anyone up for a listening party over IRC when the tracks get posted?
  5. Of course the best band in the world just made my 2013. Looks like their new album won't be out until 2014 but in August they will be releasing a smaller collection of songs that didn't make it onto any albums along with a cover of the theme from Skyrim!! http://www.equilibrium-metal.net/rekreatur/index.php?lang=en&page=aktuell Really hoping they turn that theme into a 12+ minute instrumental similar to this one Though if it's anything like everything else they have ever done it's going to be amazing!!
  6. Is it alright for me to hope that Talespin gets some coverage later in this competition? Maybe the Genesis version?
  7. I really hope so. Edit: Nope. Should have refreshed quicker.
  8. I was just looking into getting this too. Mostly because I was interested in writing and scoring my own rpg to throw into my portfolio. Is it possible to import your own music and is it at least somewhat flexible?
  9. Get Organ Trail. It's awesome. Best two bucks for 2 hours of gameplay i've ever spent.
  10. Tales of Xillia is coming out early next month. I haven't been so excited for a jrpg since FF8 I think. (...which ended up being a let down in the shadow of VII)
  11. I have really tried to figure out continuous controllers and the only thing I have found out is that nothing seems to work. If it's not related to the modwheel, I have no idea. Sonar gives you a lot of stuff to play with though. I might go to X2 once I get my pc updated but otherwise I am seriously looking at protools. and mayyyyyyyybe Cubase.
  12. The lack of love for Sonar in this thread is staggering. Once you figure out Sonar, you can probably figure out anything. Which makes it the best.
  13. Yea this is what i'm realizing people have been saying. I thought I came across a way to get a uniform tone on both sides while keeping it wide (and getting a tight quad tracking)but now i'm wondering if left/right really is as tight as I thought it was.

I know you said you use real amps and mics mostly but if you have played around with Le Pou's stuff let me ask you this. In the last version I had on the forums I had three impulse reverbs loaded per guitar which was doubled to 6 each after widening. This would have an effect of 12 impulse reverbs, or 12 mics, being used once the second guitar was added. Would that be overkill in your opinion?

  14. That is pretty awesome. I had no idea Shreddage II could do stuff like that either. Not liking the sound of that kick though. Don't worry, I seem to be kick averted.
  15. Brother, you have no idea. jk but if I could figure out how to get some OCR people on my steam list i'd enjoy whomping a few of you for sure.
  16. Happy Birthday wr! So, going to be at MAG next year?
  17. Looks like i'll be joining The Average Joes or TAJ. 1. Shade man MM7 2. Magma man MM9 3. Nitro man MM10 4. Knight man MM6 5. Skull man MM4
  18. Star Ocean II as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_8vgQS3do0 Moderate Pyroxene
  19. I use Sonar 8 currently.

  20. This time i tried going off of the mixing metal at home videos from.....some guy with an english accent. New Zealand maybe? He had quite the chop on the guitars at 200hz. My reference tracks for this one are all Equilibrium tracks. (NEW ALBUM IS COMING!!!!!!!) Maybe it's just me but on most of their tracks I don't hear much kick at all. Mostly just the snare is poking through. Until midway through then you can hear it better.I'll try a few new things then probably give it a sub later this week.
  21. Thanks for the comments as always Timaeus. I was listening to some Satriani last night and I think I found the sound the kick was supposed to have. little 80's sounding but that doesn't sound like anything i'm using for reference tracks currently. Going to bring the bass back up too.
  22. New Version up http://soundcloud.com/garpocalypse/supremacy-cosmic-cataclysm-1 -High Passed guitars at 200hz this time which cleared up a ton of bass freqs -Tried to take some of the harshness out of the guitars -Added a few more edits -Boosted kick around 3500 to get more of click -Numerous EQ and fader adjustments That opening flute is almost killing me. The only flute patch I have that is velocity sensitive is from EWQLSO and the native reverb on Solo Flute is already far too much. I tried to use fader automation to make up for it instead.
