  1. this one gotta love the old dos games, i must find it for download!
  2. sorry to bump, i'll only do it the one time, just to say got another one on there.
  3. Sorry, listened to this a while ago and was meant to reply but got side tracked. Anyway, I really enjoyed it, orchersta sounded real enough for me, that being said i'm no expert on orcherstration and realism so hopefully someone with a better ear for that stuff can give you better feedback on that part. I really liked the synth sounds, nice and simple, but they fit with the orchestra nicely. My criticism comes with the arrangement, i like the first section, then the section section with the arpeggiated synth is a nice change, but then the last bit just combines the two sections together and it's a bit predictable. It would be nice to hear something a bit more unexpected. Anyway, as i said i really enjoyed this, definately one to keep going with
  4. http://soundcloud.com/jack-lewis May aswell post this on here, it contains 2 kraftwerk remixes and one of my originals. Please feel free to start following me if you like what you hear, if you don't like what you hear then i wouldn't recommend following me. Let me know what you think to any of the tracks. Over and out
  5. what goal? the only goal we had disallowed was clearly offside
  6. Lovely choice of inspiration, you definately nailed that Justice sound! good work
  7. Thanks guys, i'm really happy with this myself so glad you like it. Yeah sorry sean i'll have to get on msn, i've been rather preoccupied watching the world cup recently...
  8. Ok, so this isnt technically an original, it's my remix of of Kraftwerk's 'Das Model/The Model' http://soundcloud.com/jack-lewis/the-model-lo-fi-mix Hope you enjoy it, i had alot of fun with the vocals for this piece. Let me know what you think
  9. 16/4 just to be fancy, i use it occasionally because it makes it easier to force loads of different time signatures together (like 5/4 then 4/4 then 3/4 then 4/4), makes it easier for me to write interesting rhythms.
  10. Oh what uni you at and what course are you doing? I've just finished my second year of Music Tech and Digital Media and Huddersfield Uni, and yes max/msp is a bastard piece of software, but doesnt it make you feel great when you get it to do even the simplest of things!? I've just given you work a quick listen and they sound good to me, very experimental and unique. I'll be able to give them a better listen next week, so i'll try and give you more feedback then!
  11. Finished Version (well i'm happy with it) I'd still love any feedback, from a one word response to a 20 page review. Hope you like it! source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2fDCj8rFYQ Sauce:
  12. Nice,I was wondering when i'd see a twewy mix on here and I'm loving this one, the style suits it really well. My only complaint is that the hi-hat lacks a bit of clarity when it's open and it sounds abit too washy in my opinion. Apart from that I'm looking forward to the finished product.
  13. Hey I saw your thread about collaborating, I'd be up for working together on a mix. I'm mostly into making electronic mixes of Final fantasy tracks, (my latest work in progress: http://www.tindeck.com/listen/kwvr) so let me know if you'd ever be interested in working together.

  14. UPDATED VERSION: Arrangement Finished now. Let me know what you think! Thanks
  15. Thanks for the feedback, I wanted to do something completely different to the orchestral style of the source, hence this daft punk style was born. I'm going to try and get the arrangement finished after the weekend, then i'll start mixing it, hopefully a bit of reverb will work wonders!
  16. I downloaded it a few months ago and i'm still loving it I too would like to say I love the game and the music, been playing through it recently and it seems the only music i've remixed recently has been ffviii's. oh no, don't say i'm becoming one of those fan boys... surely not...
  17. I like it, reminds me of the music from The Terminator which is no bad thing I don't know the source very well, but i feel like it's missing something big and really memorable, not that it's bad as it is, i just reckon it needs a big SHAZAM! I've only listened to the source once or twice so i don't know it too well, but i can say that your piece sticks to the source quite closely, so it'd be nice to hear some more variation and big stand out moments. can you post the source in this thread as well? i know it's easy enough to look up on youtube, but it would be just that little bit more helpful.
  18. Not finished at all yet, I'm still planning to add a less conservative section and an ending, but let me know what you think of it so far, do you like it? do you hate it? what can i improve? source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2fDCj8rFYQ Newest Version Nov 2010
  19. yep bitcrushed in logic too. Anyway it's no problem, send me a message if you need anymore help, I'm no expert on logic, but i've been using it for the last two years for all my academic work so hopefully i'll know something
  20. NIce work, I think it suits the trailer-esque sound you were going for, it's a shame that you couldnt get any better string sounds, but you know that already. My only other concerns with it are that the bass sounds too mechanical at some points and there's one point where it loses all human sound for me just becuase it sounds overly quantised, i can't say the exact time of this point because tin deck doesnt have a time count, i'll just describe it as the first break section before the arpegiated guitar comes in. Other than that i like it, it's got a nice amount of variety in the arrangement
  21. nevermind, just found this one http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?vst=Vocoder&id=694
  22. well some of the drum sounds are samples of doors slamming, but to get that glitched sound I made drum sounds using the ultrabeat drum synth, bit crushed them and basically just sequenced them to play really quick with varying velocities, I also used an FM synth to add to those glitches by making a simple FM tone then playing it really low so that you can hear the modulation between the fequencies, making that buzz sort of sound. Oh and finally it's in 16/4 time just because i find it easier to play around with timings that way, i.e. there's some parts where it goes something like 3/4 then 2/4 then 3/4 then 5/4 then 3/4 or something like that all within one 16 beat bar. Alternatively, If you're looking to make glitch sounds eaily then you'll really want to look at this http://illformed.org/plugins/glitch/, it only works on pc as far as i know so i didnt use it in this composition. but it's an incredible plugin considering it's free, I used it in cubase. demo of it here:
  23. Cheers, it was made mostly on Logic using samplers, synths and ultrabeat
  24. Hey I'm looking for a free vocoder vst that's very simple to use, any suggestions?
  25. Thanks for the feedback guys, very much appreciated. Think i'll take this back to a work in progress and see if i can anything fresh to it. I agree it's just a bit too generic at the moment, Thanks again!
