  1. I'll do my best to give you a run for your money, good sir! I'm trying to utilize SNES soundfonts -- trying something different -- for my entry this week. I had a similar situation this week as with last time -- only recently did an idea start to take shape. So, as for a status update -- right now, I don't have much (was only able to start recently), but, rest assured, you shall have something from me. Other than that, I'm also attempting to bring in another source from a non-Mega Man game (otherwise, my sole idea at this moment goes 'kaboom' and it's back to 'writer's block'... and it's only really 'dominant' for the first 7 seconds) ...should be able to recognize it from the first note of the song. Looking forward to what you and everyone else comes up with this week!
  2. I'll do my best, man! Looking forward to competing against you and remixing Shield Sheldon! ...sorry, no trash talk. It's on break right now, so it couldn't make it here in time.
  3. Hey! I just wanted to say thanks for your comment on my entry a few days back. :)

  4. Sorry that Mixcraft crashed on 'ya man (FL Studio did the same thing to me earlier last week -- had a decent idea going to...), but thanks for sending in what you had!

Looking forward to hearing what you have, and, if time (and program) permits, the finished version someday! :)

  5. This is what I was wondering. Thank you! I wrote everything in that post except the question, so thanks again, man. That was indeed most helpful! EDIT: I'm really excited to hear the Zero Bracket's mixes tomorrow!
  6. (And now, the post I should've made before...) Thanks for the comments! Hmm... so two comments about the drums... to be honest, I'm not that great at picking out drum (kick / snare) samples just yet; so, sorry beforehand if it sounds like I'm making the same mistake(s) over and over again. I'm gonna make this work eventually! Edit: Sorry to hear about your program crashing, Trism. Edit #2: *does Jedi hand gesture* pixelwave, your current mix is awesome like sliced bread; you'll be happy to submit it! (Okay, I gave that a try.)
  7. Mr. L

    Hey man!

I just wanted to drop by and say thanks for the comments on my entry! I noticed you took an interest in the beginning -- the 'deep-sounding' pad I used there, if you're curious, comes from the VST called 'Zebralette', and the preset is called 'HS Atlantic Swell'; it sounds lovely at the C4-ish range. :)

Also, I'm glad you liked the 'atmosphere'! That was my main focus this time. :D

Finally, I just wanted to say that I really liked your mix as well. It gave me the feeling like I was in a desert -- watching an ostrich really fly over a crescent moon. Well done! (Sorry, not really good at reviews - yet).

  8. Just wanted to drop by and say that I am looking forward to teh metullzation of Spike Rosered / Toxic Seahorse! Best of luck to you and can't wait to hear what you and ProjectSpam come up with! :D

  9. Hey; just wanted to drop by and say thanks for the comment on 'Blizzard'. :)

I always appreciate any and all comments, so thanks!

Also, kudos to you for picking Wire Sponge! I'm looking forward to hearing what you've come up with! :D

  10. Hey man, don't give up! For example, I know when I started on my entry, one of two things happened: I stared at FL Studio - completely blank, and then closed it, or I started putting in random chords / various key scales -- nothing sounded right. Friday afternoon, I finally found something that sounded... well, decent enough I'd say, and went from there; I just did a ton of experimentation. Of course, I'm not saying that you haven't done that, but the point is... you'll find something that makes you say -- "hey, this sounds kind of neat!" Also, keep this in mind: - each song you make, no matter how 'terrible' you may think it is, will help you increase your abilities - by getting feedback, what was good and what wasn't so good, and taking that into account and incorporating it into future songs. Also, you've still got time: today, tomorrow, and the early part of Sunday, as well! So, don't give up, because this is what I came very close to doing a year ago in the Wily Castle Remix Gauntlet... in fact, I said just about the same thing. If you want proof (after you're finished with your mix)... just take a listen to 'Glacial Age'... Anyway, sorry -- I'm not too great at getting to the point sometimes, but I hope that helps. So, don't sell yourself short, okay? Spike Rosered is an awesome theme as well, and there are ways you can put these two themes together!
  11. Sounds great, man! :D

  12. Haha, that's fine -- his song is ridiculously catchy. I cannot stop listening to it, dang it. :(

And thanks man, great to hear from 'ya too!

  13. 'Grats on leveling up to Red Mage! I, the lowely Dan Hibiki, approve of this. :-P

(Hey, what's up? Been 8 months since last random chatter... I try to keep spa-- messages to everyone on my 'bud list! :-D)

  14. Hey man, just wanted to drop by and say thanks for the comments on the Mrs.' mix. :-P

I really wanted to make the ambience front-and-center this time, so I'm glad 'ya liked it! :-D

Also, Zero the Master of the Bracket, I am looking forward to what you come up with for Infinity Mijinion's theme!

  15. Awesome entries, everyone! Freakin' hard votes all around. And props to AMT for a way better job on all three criteria and just an awesome remix. EDIT: Thanks for the comments, Bahamut. I didn't realize about that snare until it was too late. As for song length, I couldn't really think of anymore; once I got to a little over 3 minutes -- no more ideas.
  16. ...And my entry is submitted! The whole week (up until Friday afternoon) consisted of writer's block - never getting anything past 30 seconds. Around Friday afternoon, some ideas finally started coming to me and I just started putting them in the song one after another until I found myself at 3 minutes and 12 seconds worth of material and finally finished at 2 A.M. this morning. Overall, I'm quite happy with this one. One thing for certain - I'm really hoping that I've addressed some of the issues that were brought up with Lumitron Quadrant in the Sonic Zone Remix Competition here and not made another Glacial Age. Either way, I'm looking forward to all of the entries, and, win or lose, it was an honor competing against you, AMT.
  17. That sounds interesting! Of course, we'd then have a very big Snow Problem. Finally got to use that! ... All right, me and my pun that I ripped from DarkeSword's first post are out of here...
  18. Yes! Awesome! And, indeed! In fact, there's two more slots open! And with that, back to listening to GMRB (2010)'s awesome music.
  19. Haha, that would be cool! :D

That way, we'd pretty much be having that match we talked about in the last message (last year), except in an 'official' competition!

Either way, I'm looking forward to the match-ups and remixing! :)

  20. Man, I remember the days back then; it was just me, Nintendo Power's tips and tricks and walkthroughs, and the game. No Internet. I'd constantly read each issue over and over; especially Counselors' Corner and Classified Information - my two favorite sections. Farewell Nintendo Power, and thanks for the great memories.
  21. 4 more... wow; so close! So... hope you guys / gals don't mind, but below I've compiled a list based on my own spreadsheet and DarkeSword's official spreadsheet of Mavericks that have the clearest chance of not having any "coin-flip conflicts". In other words, as far as I can tell, these Mavericks should be quite safe to choose as your first pick (as of right now). If a Maverick doesn't appear here, then there's a possibility, however small or large, that a coin will have to be flipped OR that Maverick is already the first pick of someone else. So, for the last 3 potential entrants (or anyone)... I hope the following list helps. EDIT: And this time, instead of going back and forth between this tab and a YouTube tab (like I did last time...), I'll link you to a post where Bahamut kindly made some links to these themes! Mega Man X: Flame Mammoth Mega Man X2: Magna Centipede Morph Moth Mega Man X4: Jet Stingray Split Mushroom Cyber Peacock (Was selected in the 2010 competition, but is available.) Web Spider (Was selected in the 2010 competition, but is available.) Mega Man X5: Burn Dinorex / Mattrex Spike Rosered / Axle the Red Spiral Pegasus / The Skiver (Was selected in the 2010 competition, but is available.) Mega Man X6: Commander Yammark Ground Scaravich Infinity Mijinion (Was selected in the 2010 competition, but is available.) Metal Shark Player (Was selected in the 2010 competition, but is available.) Mega Man X7: Every Maverick (but one) from this game is a guaranteed first-place pick! Flame Hyenard Ride Boarski Snipe Anteator Soldier Stonekong Splash Warfly Tornado Tonion Wind Crowrang (Was selected in the 2010 competition, but is available.) Mega Man X8: Avalanche Yeti Burn Rooster Dark Mantis Earthrock Trilobyte Gigabolt Man-O-War Gravity Antonion So excited!!! Can't wait to remix!
  22. Hey man, how's it going? :D

It's great to see you again and also in the competition!

And I see you have listed Crush Crawfish as your first pick (which happens to be my favorite theme from Mega Man X3); awesome!

Anyway, just wanted to say 'hi', and wish you the best of luck! :D

EDIT: I haven't really improved either, to tell you the truth; so, we're in the same boat there.

  23. Storm Owl, yes!!! Yes, Mr. L is happy. Thanks for fulfilling the "requests", hakstock. Edit: Just 9 more people, now!
  24. Indeed, only one pick for him thus far... It's definitely an awesome theme. Still, there's room for 11 more remixers to join (to have 32 remixers), so hopefully we'll see him in a first place slot soon!
  25. Interesting. Off-topic: I only dabbled in QBasic, but I've never got to try PureBasic, which, I infer, is what you used to develop this. Anyway, best of luck to you in the continued development of your software, sir, and thanks for making it free.
