  1. It's fine dude. You can take some time, because I have a lot of mias on my project. Seems like you're doing work over on your end, so I won't bug you. Thanks for getting back to me :-)

  2. Hey Jade long time no talk. I'm currently failing at an attempt to create a project for an old N64 game called Flying Dragon lol. I'm beginning to see why it takes so long to do these things. I'm also trying to find a drummer for the track I submitted to the Wild Arms project just to vamp it up a little. So far very sub-par results.... I need better musician friends lol. I hope everything's still running smooth over there. Can't wait to hear Blind's mastering skill on my track ;-)

  3. Brandon, long time no see. I hope you're just finishing up your 1st WIP.. or I will be coming for you. Just doing my civic duty as project director :-) So is it really going to be a 40 BPM harp arrangement?

  4. For those of you that have not turned in your 1st WIP, you are way past the deadline. I'll be sending some pm's out to a few people that still need to submit. For those of you that have submitted, keep it up. I'm going to clean up the track claiming list for a few people that I have not heard from in a considerable amount of time. Let's keep at it guys
  5. Leave to me to forget my own WIP due date, which is in 4 days btw. I'll extend 1 more week since I forgot to remind our guys about it. As always, I'm still recruiting, so jump on the Flying Dragon project and help a soundtrack find a home.
  6. What the hell, I'll give a drunken review too. The snare sounds a little tighter and more structured over-all, and that's a nice touch. The part at 1:47 sounds a little dissonant to me. I think the piano line at said part should probably go, but the over-all piano arrangement is still impressive. Some of the toms sound a little too powerful for the track and could probably be volumed down just a bit. Also, There's a type of snare hit at 2:54 (sounds like a rim shot) that just seems out of place. At this point, I feel like I'm just nitpicking. The track is passable by OCR quality standards, and you should put it on mod review. The only thing I would worry about that I can't comment on is source usage. I can't play chiptunes, so I don't know how much source is being used, but generally the requirement is between 33-60%. If you're all good on that end, you have a remix done and ready to go.
  7. UMMM not diggin it. Jade better get on here quick or my song will go somewhere else. Tsk, not cool especially when I'm directing my own project and trying to gain some rep
  8. Lol sorry dude I didn't know you were waiting for us. This track is a nice step up from the last mix I heard from you, but it still has those production problems. The bass is way too kickin, and the kick is way too low end. Actually, it might just need a heavy boost around 2-3 Khz to give it the click back. The snare sound alright but it could probably use a little more meat as well, like around 150-200 Hz. I feel like a lot of the leads are getting a little buried in the mix, I would bring them up. The rhythm guitars are better than I expected, so that's good there. The cool swells and choir effects are a good touch to the mix too. The strings might be trying their luck with the patch your using, but I will still give them a passing mark (like a C). I also noticed that your making "impossible" drums (meaning can't really be played without many arms) which isn't bad, but if you're gonna go that route, I would really make them sound synthetic. Right now it sounds like you're on the wire with some realistic 2 step rock beats and some crazy snare and cymbal flams. That part is just a thought though. Stay within your means so it sounds good. Hopefully, Gario and sarcastic robot dude will come give their 2 cents as well Good luck
  9. This is decent, and I'm definitely diggin what I'm hearing, but I noticed a few off things. First is that I'm hearing a lot of flange/phasing going on, and I think it might be a bit thick. Just toning down the wet/dry might work, so give that a try. The snare also sounds like it has the same effect, and I think it should go. The tambourine setting is a little irritating on my ears as well. The whole track is a little repetitive, and could probably use a little more variation or use of dynamics (dynamics might be hard due to the genre). I like the patches I'm hearing; they seem pretty well balanced for the song. The vocals are also a nice touch. I don't comment on source usage, so I would wait until one of these other guys comes in and sets that straight. Either way, good luck with it. Nice job
  10. This is pretty good. I can hear some production value. One thing I noticed is that you set the compression too high to get it louder (I can hear it soft clipping, which is a bummer). The drums are arranged, and they sound it. Nothing bad there, just maybe a little more velocity and humanization changes could be made to give it that rock drummer feel. The guitars might be a smidge loud as well, but nothing unbearable there. The vocals are a nice touch, and the delay/verb setting suits it well. The bass is a little muddy and I can't quite hear what it's doing, but I know it's there. Maybe a little cut around 1500-200 Hz would clear it up (or a boost at 1K to give it more definition). All in all, it's a decent track that suits the theme well. Good job guys
  11. Sorry guys I forgot to include a few things, which is probably the reason why some of you are having trouble accessing :-/ Please register under the same user name as your OCR name, so 10stars can find and clear you. If it is different, just PM me with the user name and I'll get him to unlock it. Also, he should have everyone currently on the project unlocked by the end of tonight. If you are still blocked tomorrow, just PM me and I'll fix it
  12. Hey guys I managed to find hosting. If you are on this project and I don't have an E-mail from you, please PM either myself or user--> 10stars <-- with your e-mail address so we can get you in there. All project status details should go there from here on out BTW, the site is www.609clan.com once I have your info. You must register as well, since the forums are private P.S. sorry for the epic triple post
  13. Looking sharp. I haven't sent the request yet only because I've been getting stuff from people left and right. We now have album art, thanks to Eward Dennis. Also, I'm collaborating with 10stars to make combo videos for each character with our themes. This could turn out really well. He is an awesome 2D/3D fighter with an amazing amount of skill making great combo vids. Now that I have everything from everyone, I'm going to go ahead and submit
  14. Wow look at those tracks just filling right up. Aural_Impulse managed to swing me a WIP with the quickness, so I'm going to submit our request tomorrow. SiriusBeatz, I'll look forward to what you can bring to the table .
  15. Damn Rozo! Let the kid live. Musically, this sounds suspiciously like another gerudo valley WIP that's very recent, so watch yourself DMaster I guess since Rozo said it straight, I should too- The whole mix is way to bass heavy. It's clipping sooooo bad that I could barely get through it. You simply must have heard how weird it sounded overall when you mixed it down. The over-compression is killing almost every aspect of this track, and whether or not you intend to submit it, it's not a good sound. You're composition is alright, but that clipping buzzing sound wont leave me alone, and I literally can't hear anything clearly over the over- comp'd kick/bass. I'm sorry, but this needs to be completely re-worked as far as production goes. The composition aspect is cool, but as I said before, it's been covered like this recently, and this very similar rendition (which I believe is an FL Studio production) pleases me not. Even if you have to drop the over-all track volume, this mix must not clip. The power of Christ compels you! Do not clip! Seriously though, you have a good start. but you need to fix the aforementioned things. Good luck
  16. Dead on Gario. Right now, I hear a lot of high mids in this mix. The drums feel way below the mark here. I would switch out that kick and snare for something a little more human sounding. I'm not sure if the dolphin sounds are really adding to the track either. They sound a little distracting for the most part. The guitar patches are alright, but could be better (at least some EQ changes). I am not familiar with the source either, but I think this track may be a little too short to get onto OCR. I like the current arrangement however, and I'm hoping you'll clean the track up and re-post Oh Btw.... I'm currently recruiting for the.... oh wait. My bad Gario
  17. I'll shoot a little something your way... This is a pretty solid track. I feel a couple of lead synths may have been a little lacking in punchiness, but over all they fit well. Having the kick panned is new to my ears and I'm not so sure it's a good idea. Generally, kick goes right up center. Also, the cymbals at 2:50 sounded a little shoddy and could prob benefit from a little patch switching. Other than that, I think the track sounds fine. However, I'm a little out of my genre, so someone else will have to give you some genre specific feedback. Good luck
  18. If you wanted a review, you're about to get one... I enjoy quite a few of the songs that you remixed here. That said, there are some pretty big production problems that I can hear. The drums are too loud and too dead all at the same time. I would switch out the kick and snare patches for something with more body, and then lower them in the mix. The intro sounded very bare without and bass or guitar and only drums. The leads sound very sequenced, and are very buried behind the drums and rhythm guitar (which is also very loud). I'm noticing that most of this track seems to be a relatively straight cover, and that won't do for an OCR submission. However, the arrangement is still nice and the track is well down. Transitions felt smooth, and I couldn't hear any big pitch or timing errors. Though not sub material without some changes, a little production would make this track very enjoyable to hear. Keep it up:-)
  19. I guess I'll throw a little review action out there:smile: The intro was way too long and borderline made me lose interest. Maybe a few little riffs or gracing notes would help that out. Transition to main melody was decent, though the explosion sounded a little lo-fi compared to everything else. Once it kicked in, the cymbal was extremely hot and needs to come down quite a bit in the mix. The synth patches sounded alright, but the drum patches need some major working over. The "torque wrench" style snare needs some verb or a better release setting; it sounds abrupt. The kick setting wasn't bad for the genre, maybe a little boomy, but I would def let it pass for what it is. The background constant hi-hat wasn't too appealing to hear, as it sounded more like a "stick" setting than an actual hi hat. I'm not sure about the source, so I won't comment on source/original structure, but the whole piece felt a little repetitive and drawn out to me. I guess it might fly for a trance/prog feel, but I would agree with you that the track leans more towards hip hop/rap. However, without an actual rapper involved, it kinda feels lacking. The flanged piano was a decent idea, but I'm not sure how well it fits (FX's like flange and chorus can sound really weird on a piano setting). On a production end, I feel like you're relying too much on the kick to give you the low end, and there's no prominent bassline present. I already mentioned that the cymbal is blasting too much high end, so I'll skip telling you to turn down the highs. On a much more positive note, all the instruments could be heard clearly, so muddiness was not an issue at all. I also think that the body of the track was solid, and the arrangement is pretty catchy. I know this is a lot to take in, but this isn't my genre, so maybe one of these vets with more experience in the genre will pop in and give a more precise critique. Good luck:-)
  20. This is pretty sick. I like the patches used and I think the harmonies used were very nice. The only I would want to hear differently is prob the drums at 1:15. It sounds like you used the same patches, but cut off the low pass at like 800-1K (somewhere around there) It doesn't bring quite the effect I would hope for. It sounds a little too dead. I think I'm imagining more "washed out" drums, kinda smothered in verb so it sounds like they moved to the backline, but still have a little life. I guess this kinda comes to a personal preference, rather than a production critique, since I know the effect is intentional, but just a thought. Huge fan of the techno style change up at 2:55. Totally sold. Well, good luck with the submit. I will say this one sounds good by my ear. I figured out what I thought it should sound like:smile: Check out the drum transition from 1:10 to 1:20 and I think you'll see what I mean.
  21. So we just got Nathan (Aural_Impulse) on the project, and his work is very solid. We also have another great set of critiquing ears (Hewhoisiam) to help keep things on track . This is astoundingly good for a first shot at a project with a lot of new remixers (and a few vets too). I will be organizing a project request form and I hope to turn it in this week. No guarantees, but we have a nice section of tracks covered, and i intend to keep going until all the tracks are covered (I may even add a few). Thanks again for all the enthusiasm guys- it's tough to keep things motivated by yourself I'll send out the appropiate PM's later tonight to keep people in the loop.
  22. Sick. I think you can really help that song out. Thanks for getting back to me:-)
  23. I personally have little combo going. I use AKG K240's for my recording and rough mixing (very reliable company, I still have my old AKG K220 M's as a back up) and a pair of Event 20/20's for my serious editing. I would not recommend Beyer Dynamic DT 770's because the drivers are prone to blowing out. Granted, they have good response, but I personally feel that they provide that "sexy" sound low and high boost and colorize the sound too much. The Event 20/20's are great, but the low end simply isn't there. Gotta get a sub (which I haven't purchased yet). Speaking of subs, any ideas there? It needs to be active, like the Event's, and reasonably priced. Thanks guys!
  24. Can change names... Just64Helpin became JH Sounds and it reflected in all his old posts. And I meant your real name dude. Like me Chris, you....Jane? lol j/k I know that it's a full phrase mashed together, it's actually the words themselves that get jumbled when I try to think and type them, but I'm starting to remember. Till the next time we meet He-a-who-is-he-man:-) Did a little thread searching for both of you- Steve (good save bro:-) ) CHANGE NAME THREAD Mizu- PLUG-IN THREAD GENERAL DAW GUIDE
  25. I'm sendin an e-mail your way in a few minutes. Good stuff :-)
