OCR02272 - Final Fantasy VIII "Estharian Airs"
ad.mixx replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Ahhhhh Fishy!!!!! Awesome. Not gonna lie, this is totally not what I expected (seeing as I clicked on the youtube link first), but I'm not complaining. I absolutely love these light piano mixes. The synths were pleasent.. and overall the song was a kind of weird happy, if that makes any sense. It's almost wavy at some points, which is very cool. Great synth choices! Usually the ones you mix in are great, but this synth work is a step above! I really like the drums especially, they're mix very well, and the playing is absolutely superb! I definitely see myself playing this a lot throughout the coming months. Even longer than that. Great job, Fishy! edit: I'd like to note, I'm pretty sure after reading the writeup and stuff, I mixed up the organ with a synth. That just makes it better, though. -
This a hundred times. There's a hell of a lot more where this came from fortunately. Seriously guys, recommending ya'll look out for his future remixes. I'd like to say, being off-topic here, that it's kind of ironic that Vig, of ALL people, is defending the Pokemon remix while everyone else harasses it. I kid of course. I'm pretty shit when it comes to musical theory, but I get his points at least.

Awesome to finally see TGH on OCR! Ever since he revamped this song, I absolutely could not stop listening to it. My favorite part about the song is awesome everything is layered together, and each segment fits perfectly in relation to the source. If there were a remake of this game on the Wii, this is what I imagine I'd be hearing. I'll be playing this one over for a long time. Without a doubt, along with Home Is Where the Luvdisc Is..., this is my favorite Pokémon remix on this site. Man, seeing this first thing after getting off of work. What a great start to the rest of my day. : D Good shit, TGH! Love it.

I really did enjoy this mix very much; the strings especially caught my attention, and I am absolutely in love with what follows the at 2:15. That synth was absolutely beautiful, along with the sax. One thing I didn't like, though, is how the song transitioned to the soloing section. The soloing was very good, the piano especially, but it really just felt tacked on, to be honest. Not that it didn't belong at all, but I just didn't really like how it transitioned is all. Good remix!

I'm being serious, that typo is so bad it's kind of unbelievable. But at least they're both words. Kind of. Pappy was my grandpa's name, so that's always good. I should have posted this earlier by the way.. Maybe that's not creepy.

OCR02176 - Tails and the Music Maker "Picolescence"
ad.mixx replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
So listening back, I think throughout 2011 so far, this still tops as one of my favorite remixes so far this year. What I especially love about this mix is the the airy sound that comes from all the reverb mixed with the pads. The whole song sounds so elegant, but at the same time it still has a beat to it that pumps me up. It just sounds like the song shouldn't have ended where it did, though. I really thought a lot more could have been done, IMO. But it's nothing I'm complaining about too much, really. One thing that's sad about this remix is the fact that just because it's not from a Zelda or Chrono Trigger mix, it will probably be overlooked by a lot of people for no good reason. This is an amazing remix. Definitely worth a download. -
Happy 30th! Keep being big and giant!

Tabi no Tochuu Seriously, this has to be my favorite anime soundtrack from what I've seen so far. If anybody's actually reading this, and knows of some other epic anime OST's, seriously, post them.

OCR02266 - Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening "Lucidic"

I've always loved this one. It's probably my favorite off of the album -- yes even more than the Tal Tal Heights remix The harp was very dreamy, and fit nicely in with the whole song. I especially love the drums and the way they're filtered throughout the song. Really, all I can say is it fits together. Also, I gotta say, the effects remind me of Earthbound a LOT. Good job Chtho--.. err, I mean Ben. -
Happy birthday DJP. This site has been a huge influence on me and my interest in music ever since I found it. It's funny, even - if you told me 3 years ago that I'd be listening to the music I listen to today, which is a TON of it now, then I don't think I would have believed it. And I'm glad too, it's really helped me change for the better. (Yes, music means a lot to me ) Thank you, happy 32! Here's to 32 more, hopefully?

Just a quick post, I actually went ahead and updated this just a little since TGH suggested. Added a pad to kind of fill out space a bit and strengthened the kick a little. I might try some new pads in the future to fill it out a bit more if necessary (somehow, I'm having a hard time finding the right pad). Think I need to put this down for today, though. Haha.

So I started this one last night, and finally finished. This was originally meant to be some fast paced electronic, but I eventually scrapped everything, got inspired by a certain , and suddenly started making something similar to "The Last Schala Mix Ever".So yeah. Source. Remix (Box). I'd appreciate any feedback or criticism if possible. Thanks for listening!

Need a sample, synth, or effect? LOOK HERE!

Thanks for the fast response. Unfortunately I'm so forgetful, that once I realized the "effect" I was looking for was named a cymbal roll (because I happened to stumble across one while browsing setzer_spc), I kind of forgot to come back and edit my post. Thanks, though! -

Hi. I'm in the middle of a song, but am having trouble finding some good ways to transition. I found something that will probably just work, I'm just not sure how to emulate the cymbal sound in FL Studio. This song right here. The one that comes in at around :30 when the main theme comes. And it holds around for a while before the cymbal is actually hit (transition point?). Does anybody have any idea how to emulate that or a good sound for it? -
Haha, so I finally finished a song. I was messing around with electronic music for the past 2 weeks or so, and eventually I came up with something I really liked, and so for the past 4 hours or so I decided to go ahead and finish it. This was really fun to make, and I'm glad I did it. It's by no means completely finished (I know it's got a lot of work ), I still want to touch up on it some, and fix the ending which doesn't really transition well. And EQ a lot of things. And also I got a suggestion to up the kick. I'm still not sure how to go about that.. but I'll figure out! And the arrangement is only mostly done, but I won't make too drastic of a change unless I have too (mostly the ending, though) My only fear is that maybe too much is going on during some parts of the song.. that's mostly why I'm posting it here before I do all of the above things.. But, hopefully you like it for what it is right now! Uhh, the source. I can't actually find a video on youtube atm (unless I went through a playthrough of the game), so I'm actually uploading the source. To be honest, I'm having a hard time finding it anywhere ATM. But it came with an OST download so it should be around somewhere. Also, the source is kind of.. sparce I guess. Not much too it, too be honest not even sure if this is considered a remix. But it's worth a shot posting it here! Source: http://tindeck.com/listen/jrsc Remix: http://tindeck.com/listen/ymvd

I kind of felt that Nintendo's conference was pretty fair, to be honest. I'm just glad they at least announced some games instead of everything being something we already knew (Which really, most of the conference was just that). Not outstanding, but not bad either.

Happy birthday, halc!

This. Was rocking out to it yesterday during a 3 hour drive. SwankyVegas needs more love.

finished Final Fantasy VI - Terra Theme Metal Remix
ad.mixx replied to Sbeast's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
I love the source, and really love the metal take on this. A lot like Terra in Black, except different in a style(s). I'm with the above poster too, I feel like something else could help this mix, make it sound beefier. But too be honest, it sound really good in the latter half. Also, not really that big of a deal, but the drums really bother me at some points. I can't put my finger on it, though... again not a big deal though.. I love it when the song mellows out around 2:12, too. I love that kind of arrangement. -
Hey guys, I'm back here again I've updated my last thread just a little bit with a synth that I think works now, but it's still kind of lacking in pretty much everything that would make a bump worthwhile so I'll just link it here. I've also got this new thing I worked on recently. Got most of what I have done in about a day. Mostly just tweaking things between my two projects and trying (and failing) at doing new things every now and then. It's still incomplete just like the other. I've realized that I really SUCK at arrangement. I'm not sure what it is, but I really just can't find myself to take anything I do any further than like, 1 minute. I guess it's just a thing I'll have to learn how to do eventually. Or maybe I lack the creativity that some people here do. Anyways enough typing. This post is getting boring. Source: Mix: http://tindeck.com/listen/gjxd Try not listening to it on full volume. It's loud for some reason. I have no idea why. It was fine in my media player. x.x

Uuuh, well I listen to OCR a lot, so I can't remember exactly. Probably something from Missingno though. I think Shades of Red. My memory of last nights a little fuzzy :S

OCR02226 - Legend of Zelda "Nullification"
ad.mixx replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This song.... it was so dirty it literally took my pants right off. I love the use of the game sound fx's and musical use. Especially the "wown" sound for most of the beginning after the hey listen. This mix works so well in so many ways. Freaking great job PR. Literally everything you touch turns Gold.
