I love the source, and really love the metal take on this. A lot like Terra in Black, except different in a style(s). I'm with the above poster too, I feel like something else could help this mix, make it sound beefier. But too be honest, it sound really good in the latter half. Also, not really that big of a deal, but the drums really bother me at some points. I can't put my finger on it, though... again not a big deal though.. I love it when the song mellows out around 2:12, too. I love that kind of arrangement.

Hey guys, I'm back here again I've updated my last thread just a little bit with a synth that I think works now, but it's still kind of lacking in pretty much everything that would make a bump worthwhile so I'll just link it here. I've also got this new thing I worked on recently. Got most of what I have done in about a day. Mostly just tweaking things between my two projects and trying (and failing) at doing new things every now and then. It's still incomplete just like the other. I've realized that I really SUCK at arrangement. I'm not sure what it is, but I really just can't find myself to take anything I do any further than like, 1 minute. I guess it's just a thing I'll have to learn how to do eventually. Or maybe I lack the creativity that some people here do. Anyways enough typing. This post is getting boring. This song.... it was so dirty it literally took my pants right off. I love the use of the game sound fx's and musical use. Especially the "wown" sound for most of the beginning after the hey listen. This mix works so well in so many ways. Freaking great job PR. Literally everything you touch turns Gold.

So I would need hardware synths huh... So I'm assuming this wouldn't count? Which if that's the case.. I already have an old Yamaha keyboard I could just use as a controller for now. But I do want something that can save velocity on input later (and really, a better sample base overall <.<)... thank you though. I'll try for that cable.

Sooner or later (hopefully next week) I'm going to try and get a midi keyboard. I'm trying to find something good at my local music store but no such luck as of yet (Because the guy who specializes in it is never there <.<), I was wondering if this would be an effective way to push notes into the piano roll (well, I would hope at least..), but possibly even record the samples from the piano itself (through Edison, I think?) I'm only asking this because I will only have a USB cable, but from what I've been told that's really all you need now a days anyways. But then I hear some guy from the college music store tell me I need a 120 dollar cable, and then I don't know what to think. D: I tried googling some quick questions, got some stuff off yahoo answers, but I still don't entirely get it. :/

While conservative.. this is definitely a great track. When listening to the original, I always find myself preferring to just listen to this instead. It's kind of like an update I could say. Not McVaffe's greatest.. but it still is fun to listen to and makes great background music for studying.

Thanks for all the comments guys! Didn't expect these to be honest... I updated the song just a bit.. I've been messing with a lot of things.... but I do agree that the lead synth is a little, well, cheesy. I'll work on it later, though. The arrangement is the main thing bugging me. I have an idea of what I want to do with it from this point, but I think I'll have to find a new synth sample before I go anywhere. I took out that last piano part because it's just obviously not gonna work. >.> So yeah, it's pretty much the same as it was.. I messed with the port like TGH said. Sounds a bit better to my ears and doesn't hurt as much... but it still not what I want. I'll work on that a lot. Really, thanks for all these criticisms I'm very surprised I even got any. Haha.

...Why haven't I commented on this yet. I'll go on the record saying that this is, without a DOUBT, THE best remix on this site. I am in love with it in every single way possible. I have no quarrel with it. I loved the source, and I love this. I'll be honest, while Earthbound isn't necessarily my favorite VG soundtrack (the Metroid games take that spot), it is probably up there in the top 3 or 4. Or 2 if I can count the Prime series as just the Trilogy altogether. I digress,what I mean to say is this does the source justice. TBH, melodically I couldn't tell the source right away, but that doesn't matter, because this just feels like Earthbound, and definitely feels like a Flash of Memory. In fact, I think this song feels more like a Flash of Memory than a Flash of Memory does. Damn. This song has meant a lot to me in the past one year or so that I've had it on my playlist. It does its job of taking you away to another place. I remember the first time I listened to it, I was surprised to see the song was 6 minutes and 20 seconds long. It didn't feel that long. Time really does go by faster when you're dreaming This is also an extremely emotional mix to me. You just have to think: all of this is coming from like, a 10 year old. Or something. Honestly, and not just because of the musical reference, I could really see this being on the actual anime itself. It works very well with the shouting "Fight, fight, fight!" Or, it'd at least be possible if the anime composers were drunk or something. I love the song, though.
