  1. I didn't really grow up with anime all that much, so I can't understand the whole moe hate thing as much. However even when I watch any slice of life anime I have standards, probably not as high as most. As long as the characters are interesting or fun, and it's not overly sexual, I'm totally cool with the show. I find myself mostly watching SoL anime anymore now. The only action anime I really got into was Dragonball Z (of course it's that one), but I don't even like that now. SoL is just so fun and easy to watch for me - it's so relaxing to come home from a long day, hit the bed with some herbal tea while watching a couple of episodes of azumanga daioh or something. However I do like a good plot every now and then. I just don't find myself chasing after those shows as much (unless recommended). I guess I just never really had a chance to get into anime, though. But maybe one day I'll be as cool as you guys. edit: it's funny that my signature and avatar fit well with what i just said. typical moe fan.
  2. I love you.

    Cirno loves you.

  3. I recently started watching K-On. Just started the second season. It's such a fun show. If what you're saying is true... well I don't really care. I'll watch it as long as it falls under the category of "cute girls doing cute things", which I should be ashamed to admit even on the internet. Even if I were anonymous. Though it doesn't come anywhere close to KyoAni's Nichijou, but I'm probably the only one who thinks that show is the best. (considering the kind of mediocre reviews it got) Oh, and on the topic of anime soundtracks - Spice and Wolf has always been my favorite, if only for S1's OP which seriously tops as one of my favorite songs of all time. I can listen to the entire soundtrack for hours on end though.
  4. Ok, finally got another version in - I think this is close to being done (if not already done). Humanized things a bit - especially the cello by sliding the volume up / down on notes. Same with the saxphone. Also equalized the crystal sound a little bit to let some of the instruments have more room to breath, and fixed some of the whistle sounds. The song should be a lot smoother now. Filtered the piano out inside of the volume envelope. Changed up the bass so it's kind of doing it's own little thing for the fadeout, which I thought sounded cool. Also changed the automation on bringing the harp in to be a bit smoother like Trinity Dragon suggested (Hope that worked out). I think I mentioned everything. I really liked how this came out in the end. I wasn't really happy that I couldn't think of an ending, but I'm glad I kept working at it because I myself am really digging this song (At least more than I was) from just listening to it now. http://www.box.com/s/57xp66377r2k33tolrjh I'm gonna put this on mod review probably tonight. Maybe.
  5. Nope. I've never played it either. Funny thing though, a friend of mine let me borrow the ds version like just today, so yeah. Thanks for the choral comment, I love choral synths because of metroid. Also might hear that influence ith.n the lead synth. Thanks for all the comments guys, I was actually afraid people wouldn't like it, but I was fortunatley wrong. Typed this from phone and its literally impossible to fix typos
  6. So this was quite a pain. I didn't give up though, and I think I finally ended it off pretty well. Hopefully. I feel like I lost inspiration for the ending of the track - I kept putting in ideas and throwing stuff away. But yeah, I think the arrangement is done now. May do a few things to it next update, but probably just touches. Still haven't humanized the sax or cello, but that's on my checklist. I rewrote the bass a little bit for the first part with the sax, but it kept the same movement pretty much. Also equalized the whistle to be less irritating, and the cello is softened up. Along with the piano. http://www.box.com/s/57xp66377r2k33tolrjh Any comment on arrangement though? That's the biggest thing I'm concerned about. Also that crystally sounding part is not schala, so that cello section is pretty much entirely original. Except for the harp movement. Yup, think I mentioned everything.
  7. Hey there! I don't post here that much, but I've been browsing the OCR Christians thread for a while now.

I've been in a school of ministry in Atlanta, GA for a while now, and while I'm probably not necessarily known in the thread that much I think it'd be cool to post more.

There have been a lot of great testimonies happening here, and I've been wanting to share in the thread for a while now. Do you think it would be appropriate in the thread atm to kind of post who I am and what God has been doing and whatnot? I have no intention of getting into the Atheism debate, I just kind of want to share the awesomeness of God I guess.

    Yeah

    Thanks : D

  8. I absolutely love the metroid prime soundtracks. I consider Kenji Yamamoto my biggest influence for getting into music too , so yeah. They're pretty good. Also okami is amazing and stuff.
  9. I bet you've never heard one of these before! Yeah, so I've been working on this one for a while. It's not done, and since I'm kind of hitting a bit of a roadblock (in terms of writing out a good arrangement) at the moment I'd figure I'd at least post to see what kind of feedback I'll be getting anyways. I really wanted to explore more soundscapes in one song, so this has a lot more variety than my previous mixes. https://www.box.com/s/f8o3ykmicsis7nl96ekj source:
  10. Yeah. A lot more than I thought I would actually. I'm constantly getting better though (like, a lot faster than others just because I get so into music), so I've already put a lot of my old stuff behind me. Especially anything made 5 months ago or more. Although, now that I remember there is one old song of mine in particular that I love to go back to listen to: the first song I ever finished. Mostly because of the composition and atmosphere of it. The production of it sucks (of course), but I still love it.
  11. I wasn't sure if I'm supposed to wait for multiple mod reviews, but I went ahead and changed this back to finished. I'm gonna start working on those things you mentioned though, maybe changing the groove during the chorus' and having a different pad play throughout the song. Thanks for the feedback! : )
  12. I think I'm putting this up for mod review now, haha. I honestly feel like it's close to being ready, but that could also just be me wanting to go ahead and get this song out of the way. I've done a lot since the EP version and I think it sounds good. Also I've talked with a few people outside of the WIP forum, and they think it's doing good. So that too, heh.
  13. http://www.box.com/s/b8m6ecan65clrpas36u4 Alright, so I think I fixed those strings for good. I tuned down backwards hat thing. I also turned down the velocity of some of the bells hitting, at least the ones in the lower octaves since they have some sort of harmonic on them like DaMonz mentioned. It wasn't that much of a change, but it works I think. I also tweaked the pizz string notes at certain parts. I think they're better now. Also I'll ask around what people think of the oboe section in the middle. Nobody seemed to mention that arrangement wise but I might tweak it a little bit. Also I added a more climatic kick towards the end so hopefully that works well. Uhh yeah, think I mentioned everything haha.
  14. Haha, ok, so I've finally got a new version in. For the most part, I think I did all the things you mentioned. I think the kick has the extra "punch" now after messing with the EQ a bit. It definitely shows up on the frequency bar as such. The intro drums, I processed them a bit, and added some pitch automation. I don't actually have as much pitch control as I wanted, so I wasn't able to go too low in that sense, but maybe I'll find a way to make that idea work better. Just to give it a bit of variety. The bells show up fine harmonically on FL piano roll. I think it's just the fact that they're layered in two different octaves? The same thing with the pizz strings, though I changed them up. Or maybe I'm missing what you're talking about completely? Haha. I made the drums sound better in the bridge section and spruced it up a bit. Also, for the ending I decided to bring in a filtered high hat. I was told it needed to be a bit more climatic, and I'm not sure if I pulled it off or not, but hopefully I did. Maybe it needs something else haha. And also I have a kind of sword slicing sound in there now rather than that last weirdly phased snare sounding thing I put in, so it's not as distracting but still fills out space. Hopefully. So yeah, I think I mentioned everything. Anybody else have anything to say before I put this on mod review? http://www.box.com/s/b8m6ecan65clrpas36u4 edit: oh yeah, I realized that the strings at 2:37 sound off. I'm going to render another version tomorrow with a fix, it's kind of late haha.
  15. So all I could get in was something like 3 or 4 euros. That's enough to get McDonalds right? I'm really diggin' the album by the way. This is top notch work, PD. Will there be like, a Bluetooth, or something like that in the future?
  16. A quick question.. I tried googling it, and I'm afraid I still don't completely understand. What does "processing" mean? I hear it everywhere on OCR, and I feel like I have a general idea of what it means, but I've never been completely sure for some reason. Like how halc said he used tons of processing on his last posted mix "The Great Blizzard of 9X."
  17. Yay, more ProtoDome to add to my list of musicz. Downloading now. I'm gonna try and buy it later once I find a bank to put my 8 dollars in. Oh yeah, and I love the artwork. I don't know what her name is but she's pretty rad if you ask me.
  18. Are you kidding me? You finally submitted this? Super awesome. This is one of my favorite halc tracks and i love its finally on ocr. Merry christmas everyone.
  19. I figured so I just saw the sirnuts update and thought for a second , "wait is it even on?" Thanks.
  20. So I'm just curious, the song TGH sent you for is definitely on the project, right? The one me and him did for Smurfs Nightmare? I haven't seen it on the list for a while, so I was kind of curious on it's status on the project.
  21. Hi. So this was my contribution the Mega Man 9 Concrete Man Remix Album, which I tried out for OCR. It didn't get accepted unfortunately. Here's the version on the album: Update 2: http://www.box.com/s/b8m6ecan65clrpas36u4 LATEST UPDATE: https://app.box.com/s/uslv4x4h12i0e72hrcozfmaya8y25o6m Read latest post for details. here's the source gosh i want to get rid of these youtube boxes
  22. Typical tgh song. Why don't you try doing manly metal music or something are you scared Jk I like this song for real. I wouldn't expect that source to work well for this genre but it does.
  23. I'm actually a huge fan of this. The reverbed drums mixed with the orchestra + guitar remind me a lot of the Super Smash Bros. Melee soundtrack. Like, a lot. That's a good thing though, I love Melee's music. Good job on this. A+
  24. No real title yet I'm posting this so hopefully I can get feedback as I work on this song. The problem with my last sub to OCR was that the sound wasn't "full" enough, so I worked on that. The sections are kind of cluttered together. I'm going to be sections in between, but I haven't been able to put any ideas down yet. Haha.
