  1. Going to hang out with a friend tonight. He has the game on the 360, I can't wait to see it in action. Super excited. edit: that was the most facebook post I've ever posted on OCR.
  2. I've still yet to get into Pokemon Black like I thought I would, but sign me up for a 3rd gen remake. As long as it has the battle frontier from emealdy, which stands out imo as the most fun area in any Pokemon game ever, ill never need to pick up another Pokemon game again. Typing this from phone so I kinda gave up on capitalization.
  3. I just saw this post. I agree with it big time though. Seriously - great soundtrack. If you could do this, that would be freaking awesome. I never played the Turok game for the GB, but I learned a lot about 8-bit composition just from listening to him on youtube. He knew what he was doing. Also I messaged WillRock. If he's ok with it then I'm on the project I guess. If I am, I probably won't be able to start until next week 'cause I have a crapload of non-vg related music projects to do, but they aren't actually full songs so I should be able to do them in no time. Edit: willrock got back with, said I need to work on quality before I can jump on. But Ill try my damned hardest to get on this thing. Good luck with getting this project started. Im super pumped
  4. Actually, all of it's music (from what I remember, except fanfares) was original. It's very unique musically, as it's pretty dark and eerie (compared to the other games). I'll pump out something awesome for you. Also, fun fact: the creator of the series, Gunpei Yokoi, also created the Game Boy. He was a genius.
  5. If it's alright, I would like to claim the Metroid series (Metroid 2: Return of Samus to be exact). It's one of my favorite series ever, so I'd love to pay tribute to it through this album. I'm not sure when I'd be able to start on the song, but probably relatively soon.
  6. I love this so much. It is conservative like you said, but I love the feel it gives. This was one of my favorite songs from the earthbound series, and you did it justice. Sounds like it's coming straight from a Wii version of the game. I'm definetly going to relax to this later. Thanks.
  7. My personal opinion, if you want to get better at making music, then do what you think will help you reach that goal. If it takes learning music theory, then go for it. There are other things you can try, most of them have already been suggested in this thread - but the one that's most important in my opinion is listening. I've learned most everything I've learned so far just from listening to music, and trying to recreate the sounds. Feedback is helpful (extremely helpful, actually), but people aren't going to want to always comment on your music, so listen. Only go for feedback whenever you're happy with what you've got. Then take the criticisms, and go back to listening. Really helps. Learning music theory and creating original music can help, but it really comes down to how much you care about music and how far you want to take it. If you're just trying to get on OCR, it's (obviously) not required. Also, ask questions. If you can't figure it out yourself, or google isn't helping, ask questions. No shame in it. That's all I have to say. Good luck.
  8. Thanks for the suggestion guys. Really thank you. To be honest, I like the idea of Z3ta+, but the idea of a hardware synthesizer is sounding VERY good to me for some reason. I'm just gonna keep looking up videos of them for a while. I checked all the suggestions though. They're all pretty expensive (except for the software), and being in school full time right now, the chances of getting one doesn't look so great, but once I can get a job, I'm going to invest into them. I'll just be patient and do whatever I can with what free synths I have now (which is basically 3xosc and synth1 )
  9. Hey everyone. For some random reason, I've been listening to a few synth pop songs on repeat lately, and have just had the urge to dive into this genre. There's just so many things that go into it that I know if I applied myself to it I would have a lot of fun with it. I've been listening to a lot of stuff on OCR (like this) and a couple of J-pop songs (by fellow remixer Hyadain and song.)Anyways, I think I'd love to do things like this. I've been wanting to learn and apply synthesis for a long time, but most everything I try I get bored of quickly and move on (mostly with hard techno songs). But I do like creating and arranging catchy melodies and applying lots of different instruments and effects. So yeah, if anyone has suggestions for good samples or things to start with I'll listen (I use FL Studio) Also if you have any music or artists you'd suggest to someone like me, I'm all ears. I'm not completely new to the genre, but I'm sure there's a lot of songs out there I could take tips from.
  10. did not except. Concrete man is officially the best robot master on OCR.
  11. Great way to start of the album. I was really excited to see Flexstyle participating in the album. Since he's one of my favorite electronic artist on this website (maybe evar) I knew I'd like this before I even heard it. The song works for this genre. It's a little short, but it gets the job done, and again, starts off the album in an excellent way. Can't say anything bad about it really. I love it.
  12. I haven't been able to listen to this until just now (because my phone doesn't like zip files for some reason. So far my favorites are Flexstyles (no surprise there) and Inflatable Arsons. They all freaking rock though. I'm freaking excited (and extremely surprised) I got to be a part of an album of this amazing quality. Wow. I can't wait to get back home to listen to them on some good headphones and not crappy labtop speakers. If I get a chance to, I'll edit this post with more stuff once I'm done listening to all of them. Seriously, y'all rock! <3
  13. Dont have internet, so just now downloading this. Excited like crazy. Especially for flexstyle and sir nuts tracks Im starting to wish I spent a little more time on my track. I was listening to it a couple of days ago and thought of a lot of ways I couldve upped it quality wise. I can still hopefully try and get it to ocr standards down the road sometime. If anything.
  14. I started with orchestral epics in mario paint.
  15. One funny thing about this mix is that while it's the shortest amount of time I've probably spent on a mix (so far at least), it's the best I've done so far production wise. Compared to anything I've done actually, not just mixes. Kind of surprising really. Still not sure if it's legible for the project, but it's cool IMO. I can't wait to hear what everyone else has gotten in store for this project. Especially Flexstyle : D This theme is gonna sound awesome in electronic.
  16. /sarcasm Then how did beauty come out of this monstrosity?/end sarcasm Oh yeah, I haven't posted in this yet I don't think. There's not really a particular game or series out there I won't remix. Ultimately, it all comes down to the song rather than the game I'm mixing for. I've realized a lot of mixes I make actually come from games I've never played before which is kind of funny. I even attempted to mix a song from some random hentai game that somehow found on youtube. It didn't turn out that well, but I'm not really biased. I've even thought about mixing a game I hate (Metroid: Other M) a few months ago.
  17. Hi, I just sent you a message for the Concrete Man project. I don't see it in my outbox for some reason though, so was gonna post this here to make sure you got it.

  18. This is a really fun track to work with! I've got pretty much every thing done. All that's left is some equalization, humanization, and a bit more arrangement. It sucks I probably won't be able to work on this tomorrow or the next day, but I'll send something in before the weeks up. Hopefully ya'll will like it.
  19. This seems like fun, and I have some really cool ideas just from listening to this song. I'll try and make something good and send it to you. Don't expect anything great
  20. Woah. I did not know there was a PC version. I gotta check this out. Thanks. edit: Yeah Flare. To be honest I don't really know much about the game besides some of the music. But that might be a good thing once I start playing it. The hard thing is going to be to start playing it though. I'm still not even done with my Metroid celebration. <.< (Also I'm not even sure how this whole PC thing works yet)
  21. Merry birthday VII to a game I never played and probably never will unless there's some re-release on a future handheld console (or I actually end up buying a playstation system again, which i should totally do because I liked the ps2). But apparently you're really awesome, I really like your music, and I really like JRPG's, so for that I commend you! (also I liked the few final fantasy games I did play, so that's a plus)
  22. This is really awesome! I'm becoming a big fan of Hyadains work ever since I fell in love with the Nichijou OP's. I was kind of surprised to know that that Hyadain was the same one on OCR! Pretty cool stuff. Check out his youtube people! While the Nichijou songs weren't nearly as crazy as this (though, they were pretty crazy), it's still just as fun to listen to. I have a feeling this song would be better if I understood the game more, but I think I have a good idea of which voice is the protagonist and antagonist. Really love this song. I hope we get more from Hyadain! Also, it's awesome to see some mainstream artists (at least from what I was told he is mainstream) being posted onto OCR.
  23. There's no way you're serious. And if you are, then that's totally your opinion, man. Superman was my first game on the N64 actually. I "lost" it after I finally got the Mario game. It's actually the only game I've ever wanted to lose so I'd never have to see it again. Pretty bad game. :/ edit: might be going off - topic, so i'll add that yes, superman 64, never again.
