  1. Someone's gotta give L and zero a run for their money. A bit hesitant to enter, as my keyboard is halfway across the globe and this will be all mouse-work, but I have a feeling that'll be good for me. 1. Chill Penguin - X1 2. Spark Mandrill - X1 3. Bubble Crab - X2 4. Optic Sunflower - X8 5. Gravity Beetle - X3
  2. Are the entries being centrally hosted anywhere, or do we just have to hope participants link they're tracks from here? Or maybe they'd be in the chatlog? As several people mentioned, so many great games from 1995; I'd love to see what was covered and hear everyone's work. Would have loved to participate, too. Stupid Afghans and their messed up clocks and internet and stuff.
  3. I started looking for tracks from the original FF before I saw you said Lifestream album. So you're looking for a Final Fantasy 7 mix? Not a lot of info to go off here. If it was old enough to be on vgmix, you may have some luck here: http://vgmixarchive.com/
  4. Yeah, not to mention Lufia 2, Secret of Evermore, and Terranigma. Not quite equipped to compete right now, but I'll throw out a couple reques-*ahem*-suggestions for anyone looking for a source: Worms You Don't Know Jack
  5. D'awww, thanks. I would love to help out however I can. I've got a couple months left on deployment, but after that, I'm planning on investing in some better recording equipment and should have pretty good availability. I'd link to the track Matt mentioned, but tindeck is inexplicably blocked on this network, but it's under the account zirconmusic, FF6 Contest Track 3 (Blackjack).
  6. I usually just look through YouTube playlists if I'm looking for something as general as this. They almost always include the universal favorites, plus you get some individual flavor. Here are just some starting points for overworld and battle lists. Of course, you could probably get a couple hours' worth just by searching for Sakuraba battle themes. Or, maybe it'd be easier to just go through this thread: http://neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=460901
  7. I'm definitely planning to continue work on an Awakening track, although I've trashed my original WIP in favor of something completely different with much more promise.
  8. Brandon, I still have your barbershop WIP for a Monkey Island remix. It's pretty cool.
  9. Glad you appreciate it. Also, yeah, that sloppy linkage was no good. Corrected, tested, and ready to go. I realize it's a bit of hodgepodge collection, and I'm sure it could be organized a bit better (or broken up so you don't need to download 3+ GB just to look at it) but I'm lazy, and I haven't gone through half of it myself. It's free stuff, though, and I'm sure there are some people who will find a way to put it to good use. Of course, I think all the pancakes and lizards hanging around already have a pretty well-stocked arsenal. I really am not familiar with any of these source tunes, but I've been enjoying a lot of the results so far!
  10. It's dangerous to go alone. Take this. ...and I await the complaints about auto-music. EDIT: I don't know why I was thinking there were VSTi files in there. There are not. Lots of plug-ins, though. And soundfonts. And anyone else who's interested is welcome to grab them, of course. Credit and thanks to Level 99 who packed these up for me.
  11. This one time--or, lots of one times--I saw her profile picture on Facebook and thought to myself, "Toph is awesome. Deia is awesome."
  12. These comments, while they should have probably been withheld until now, were nevertheless much appreciated. For the record, zircon seems to be giving me all the credit, but really, Calum did all the work on this track. The arrangement and production were all but finalized before he put out feelers for vocalists. So, no, it's not really an ego thing. Just giving credit where credit is due. And congrats to the winners!
  13. Dublin, OH? Next time you see Wendy, can you get her to spill the beans on that chili recipe?

  14. Snappleman's comments make me think of this video:
  15. Can't hurt to ask. What's your stance on using the WIP forums, zircon?
  16. Certainly can. I'm working on finding someplace on base where I can record, but haven't had any luck. Seems the only place you can actually be alone is the chapel, but that's got 8 or so AC units, and I don't think they turn off. Ever.
  17. I cannot endorse this opinion. 1000 is much too low a number. The majority of people I know who watched the original series when it was all available to watch at once did so in under a week.
  18. I agree with all of this. The nuanced differences among unique voices make the charatacter of a choral sound almost impossible to replicate. I've actually been formulating a concept for a choral mix beginning with Temple of Time chant, then developing into/interweaving with a couple themes from other games in the series. In any case, not sure what the timeline on this project is, but if there's still a need, I should be around to help this project out come October/November. May have time to arrange/produce a track. Could definitely contribute some vocals. I'm working on getting some better examples of my style and range. What I do have now is this recording I made a couple years ago of a gorgeous Palestrina arrangement for male quartet. Recorder in my apartment, revern added in Audacity for that open-acoustic cathedral feel. The production quality isn't up to stuff, and there are some intonation issues, but I did this in a bit of a rush and could definitely improve on it. O, Domine, Jesu Christe
  19. I have had 'Love the Game' from Ben Briggs' Attention Deficit EP as one of my alarms for over a year now.
  20. Was moving my music today to a new drive today, and saw this playlist in a folder all by itself. Later, lined up some mixes I wasn't familiar with, and discovered that this CotMM track definitely belongs here: 'Solstice Demnos Inquisitor'
  21. I really know pretty much zilch about recording, but it was a discussion about it when I first heard the term audio interface. It'll be several months before I'll have anywhere I can even think about recording, so I haven't really looked into it yet, but if I understood correctly, if you want a decent recording, plugging the mic straight into your computer is not a good idea, right? If that's correct, it seems like a discussion that newbies like us would want to have at the same time as the mic one.
  22. I first discovered these with Avatar: The Last Airbender. Unfortunately, it seems to have stalled near the end of Book I, but what he's got is pretty brilliant. (Support his site with the above link. For convenience, here's a Note - Episode 12 is a fake.)Of the ones here, Twilight Princess is the only one which I know the original well enough to fully appreciate. Will have to check it out.
