  1. Duuuuuude this is so badass. I have insane respect for you for recording the drums as well as the guitars, awesome work man. The only thing that really bugged me was the balance between the rhythm and lead guitars during a lot of the track, I felt like the leads could be a lot more prominent to direct the track a bit better. The rhythm guitars keep the track moving, but the leads are what's giving it direction in this case. Loved the flanged guitars Again, awesome work, and props for remixing an overlooked game/source
  2. Got to be there in person for it. It was the shit
  3. Good to see a track that's not by me get the ol' gross beatin' I mean... what?
  4. Still one of my absolute favorites. You know a track is great when it makes you get the game having never played it before. Still looking forward to having the opportunity to remix something from the OST myself... Alex Brandon is the guy. Excellent work on this one
  5. Bitchin' dude! Can't wait to see the finished thing :D

  6. Depends on if it's running off of an 8-bit game's engine or not. I'm writing an OST for a game that's all chiptunes, but I'm not into tracking (learned at one point, forgotten it all by now) and his game doesn't require me to. I wrote a fakebit album using nothing but magic 8bit and 3x Osc with custom waveforms sampled directly from the NES, as well as some DPCM drum samples for all the chiptune stuff (though only the first track is 100% NES authentic as far as limitations). The first track emulates the VRC6 chip to spec, and the second very closely does (Ben added a string sample from A Link to the Past, and in some spots it uses 2 noise channels, albeit rarely). It really just depends on how the game is running If you want those DPCM samples, I'd be happy to send them to you EDIT: Nathan beat me to it, that dangus. Still, the offer for samples stands (and for anyone who wants them) Also Nathan's description of NES hardware is just the basic 2A03 sound chip, but there are a lot more than that as far as expansions go (check out Xenon Odyssey's album Fountainhead for some good examples of lots of them). Just do a bit of research and figure out what limitations you want to impose on yourself. I personally like VRC6 because I have a bit more breathing room for delay and chorusing (both of which use a full channel because they would need to be hand sequenced if it was in a tracker)
  7. I already said it but HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAG ROOMIE
  8. Awesome stuff dude Dangit, there's too many Dr. Awkwards. I DUNNO WHICH IS WHICH
  9. I'm doign some stuff to mine too, but I have to make it through the week first
  10. My best friend is doing the same thing, it's not too hard to whittle your time down in a few weeks from what I've seen. He started at about the same, and not long ago hit a 26 minute run After a short break I picked Super Metroid back up and I hit 1:00:08 at his place last night, SO CLOSE to getting sub 1 hr. If I hadn't bungled this ONE shinespark... anyway, 0:43 by the game clock, not bad EDIT: TOTALLY hit sub 1 hr. Was a minute behind at one point, and made up for it and THEN an extra 30 seconds
  11. This week is absolutely ridiculous for me anyway, so I figured why not add one more thing to the mountain of music I have to write anyway... I'm working on my mix right now, figuring out where to take the arrangement and touching up mixing. Shouldn't be long before it's done, maybe tonight or tomorrow or the next day
  12. Yeah this Also I promise I'll finish up my WIP this time... third time's the charm!
  13. I always enjoy your stuff dude, I love how eerie the track gets toward the end. Awesome stuff
  14. That's because the deadlines are reasonable
  15. I just hope he misses the next WIP deadline so I can bug him about it relentlessly until he comes up with something even though he's probably busy and has a ton of other stuff going on. Not for any reason, in particular...
  16. Got a concept down and PM'd DusK, hope y'all like prog
  17. I've got about 2:30 down, I just need to get the rest of it. Probably about a minute more; shouldn't take too long since I've already got instrumentation and sound design down, I just need to figure out the rest of the arrangement and fill everything out (and tweak production). Did you ever get a WIP? I can send what I've got if you'd like
  18. Really really sorry guys, I swear I'm working on it, but progress is slow as I've got a zillion other things going on atm too; I'm in charge of all the audio for a small mobile game, working on music for ANOTHER game, scoring a short film, and have all these project mixes to get done as well. I'm doing all I can, hopefully it's not too much longer! While I'm asking for a bit of patience, go ahead and keep badgering me till I get it done (I happen to be increasingly scatterbrained lately, and am pretty forgetful to begin with). PMs, PMs, and more PMs
  19. I am thrilled to hear this is good. I fucking love DCU. I hope Nightwing is as badass as he should be
  20. I haaaaaated the redesign... too much tedium and needlessly changed physics. It didn't feel at all like a Metroid game to me, least of all Super Metroid. Haven't played the other, but I've seen clips and it looks pretty cool
