  1. Wrong. Theoretically, I could say "Tifa ends up being stronger than most MALE characters, subverting sexist stereotypes". Marcus Fenix is a gruff brute of a man, nearly careless for anything he does in battle. He is barely given emotion. Men DO get offended by that.
  2. The transition was cool, but it lacked momentum. There was no build up and if anything it lost energy. Also, there are empty parts where nothing plays and a lot of the instruments lack sustain so it feels slightly incomplete, so put in a pad that plays throughout. Actually, at 1:37, exactly what I'm describing comes in, and I think something of that nature throughout the entire song could give it more cohesiveness and maintain a bit of energy through transitions. Otherwise, I really liked it! The lead was pretty cool to listen to with some nice drums. I could see this being a posted remix with some hard work
  3. I'll take a look at that piano and I'll see what I can do to make it more 'real'! It's pretty scary to see how far I've come from what was practically a midi rip (although it was actually copied from piano sheet music BCUZ IM HARDCOR LIK THAT), but I'm still making more original sections in the arrangement. That goddamn kick is going to haunt me for the rest of my life. If I ever get it down, it'll be the day I can die happily. Also I've been hating the panning so I'm lowering those a bit to make the leads a little more leading. But thank for the well wishes and the rev
  4. A menu medley may be GCN Menu with other menus as solos, but I'll see what Ican do. If the entire first disc is me I will be sorely disappointed for sure!
  5. So I'm thinking about doing a remix of the Pirate Ship theme; any objections? I know a WIP should be submitted, so just put me as interested ;P
  6. I generally listen to The OneUps while I'm doing homework
  7. Thanks man! I love Sonic, if ya haven't noticed. I am using FL Studio 10 for the program, and I used 3xOsc for many of the samples, I used built-in organs for the pans and countermelodies and FL Keys for a nice real-feeling instrument. I was originally gonna program an LSDJ section where it'd fade down in a chiptune and then back up but something was wrong with the tempos of the two (they were the same, but didn't match up), so I applied that to the rest of the song. Alright, I'll look around. I wanted sort of a calmer sound to kick the song off with, and something that wasn't intrusive in the rest of the song, and in the end, it's tough to work everything in like I want it to. Mkay, I'll keep all that in mind, I remember EQing the drums was one of the hardest parts because when they got too loud at too high/low a frequency, and vice versa, it cut out other instruments in that range, but that's the challenge of it all, I guess. And I kind want that mechanical sound, because most of Ice Cap's I've heard are really ambient, and I wanted to kinda make an Ice Cap Party (note to self: possible name for future mix). I took a Graphic Communications class last year, year-round, criticisms are nothing but help (unless they're 'you stink') I will definitely take these things into deep consideration when working for my subbed mix
  8. I like em! Maybe have the transparencies reversed for Robotnik Bracket (white -> stage -> black under Dr. R)
  9. I really like the rhythm of the...er, rhythm. Also, the combo of that pad and the guitars is pretty cool. I think the drum stop at :46 needs to have something on the downbeat of 1, or something on the the upbeat of 4; it feels like it just gave up for a measure. It either needs to leave something or pick up something. I think the hi-hat should have come in earlier. It feels limited in it's ability. This song COULD become something really cool/experimental, but right now it seems bare minimum. You've only got two minutes here, spread out, have that guitar at the end do a solo or a super cool drum part. Outside of the beginning, you don't really change the progression of the source much. Changing the rhythm is nice, but I need to detach myself from constantly thinking "this is Song of Storms" and start thinking "this is a cool song." Vary the drums. It lacks variety. I just kinda forget the drums every once in a while. Don't let me. All that was typed as I listened to it. And believe me, I liked it. But it's not fulfilling it's potential.
  10. I do feel it can be submitted such, perhaps my wording was a bit disconcerting. It is not read "I am putting this as Mod Review BECAUSE I want to hear what thy think", more like "I am putting this as Mod Review; I want to know what they think. I might have done that before out of hastiness and lack of confidence, but I know the rules
  11. Current WIP as of 2/13/12 Putting it up for Mod Review again to see what they can give me now.
  12. It'd be perfect. But Moonside might be confusing and Magicant could maybe get scary. Depends on how he reacts to those kinds of scenerios.
  13. Bastion. Amnesia. The World Ends With You. In other news, games have depressing titles nowadays.
  14. Let's just imagine that's totally what I meant
  15. Think about it like this When you are at standard position (at the chin), the easiest approachable note with the bow would be the E in a GDAE tuning.
  16. Alright for right now put me down for a claim of "GCN Menu", as I am not completely sure I'll have the resources for a ska remix at the moment.
  17. Oh yeah, I should check those songs out! I'm pretty sure I know what song I'm applying for, but maybe one could take my metaphorical-musical cake!
  18. I'm thinking about making a ska version of the Rainbow Road GBA song. It's cool if I put in some other Rainbow Road stuffs in there, right?
  19. No problem, I was just thinking how odd a situation it would be. Especially since in most cases the songs are of different styles, so the usefulness would be outweighed by it's pointlessness. Also I am mostly just really excited and I just wanna talk about Sonic songs and I'm excited about Sonic songs.
  20. This seems pretty obvious, but I think it should be established- how will you deal with Sonic CD's US and Japanese soundtracks? Will you allow, say, a Palmtree Panic (US) and a Palmtree Panic (JP), or will there still only be one zone per person? If it's the latter, will they have to choose US/JP or will they be able to wait for it use ALL of the tracks on their and their opponents mixes?
  21. Current WIP as of 2/10/12 Come on guys, I gotta get some crits, I think I've done all I can be happy with. Please criticize, don't just lurk or listen.
  22. Super excited, but has he officially stated that this is a sequel to Psychonauts, regardless of genre?
  23. As I was listening to it: Loving the percussion and Hendricks-esque licks at the beginning. Also the staccato bass really helps out by setting a slightly eerie mood, but also calming. The ambiance is beautiful. Post-listening: It all meshes together perfectly and the guitar keeps interest throughout. Might wanna work on more varied percussion. I enjoy you went beyond a simple drum set, but in the song I heard a tom before the little syncopation, and I think the song could have used some tom for a transition of sections in the song for a little more variety.
