Mega Man X: The Sigma Fortress Remix Gauntlet 2015
YoshiBlade replied to DarkeSword's topic in Competitions
So it looks like this is the wrap-up of the wrap-up. So as this was my first Remix Gauntlet and I just want to reiterate how much fun it was working within a time frame! My only grip is also my favorite aspect of the RG. On the one hand It seems there is a natural pairing of skill level and ability and the heavy hitters pair up together and tend to dominate, while the newer or less versatile remixers, who are still finding their voice, tend to pair up and have a more difficult time standing on two feet, especially when everyone is on their best game. On the other hand I, love toeing it with the Titans of OCR, stand and deliver, firing line....eighth level Mario Bros. !!!! I realize that these compose were around long before me, but If there is a suggestion box somewhere I'd ask if there was a way to have independent floating champions that kind of rotate from one team to another offering helping to those who need it or just adding that little extra zest to those who are more confident, allowing the more nascent remixers to glean some wisdom from the pros. Or maybe randomized teams? IDK, I still had a lot fun and am surprised at what I was able to concoct in realtime. As for an Album project, if there were any of my tracks that piqued any ears, let me know and I'll have another look at them and tinker and toy. PS Are there any plans for another Remix Gauntlet, if so I can certainly give a preemptive "Yes" to any sign-ups -

Looks good! Mario looks like he was getting ready to brain Pikachu with a putter, but got distracted by the TV... I love Wario and the realistic take on Ballon Fight Guy! -

Mega Man X: The Sigma Fortress Remix Gauntlet 2015

So I just posted a thread over in Workshop and it promoted 2 Questions: 1) Does anyone else have WIPS that never made it to SFRG submissions 2) Is there a place we can post those, I'm interested to hear some WIPS/Finished material that ,for whatever reason, didn't make it to the rounds? -
So, back during the SFRG I thought that we would be getting to remix more than 1 track, So I started remixing all my draft selection picks, it was only like week 2-3 that I came to realize I had to make 3 remixes of only 1 draft selection...sooooo I had all these WIPS of my top 5 choices and short-story-long I made more remixes than I was required to do so....and here's one of them Remix- https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B80H6SsEW90wVFlpeXc0aWdCUkU/view?pli=1 Original

Mega Man X: The Sigma Fortress Remix Gauntlet 2015

So I guess this is the postmortem, well I don't have much to add, other than some personal observations and feedback. I guess these larger community compos are a great tool for focusing one's energy on a given task. At first I really wasn't too keen on Toxic Seahorse, I 'm still on the fence if the source material is a necessary component of good remixing ( will a track that appeals to you vs one that doesn't yield a better or worse track?), but the name of the game is resilience and improvisation in a timely manner and I'm mostly satisfied with what I pulled out of the source material. I feel that my tracks were underdeveloped, great starts or maybe chucks where I have an idea, but fail to be unified in a cohesive song.....real song composition, a good finished song, not great ideas strapped together. As for the the competition part of the competition, I wish there was a way to marry together the desire to win with the desire to learn production techniques. For me a big block was trying to incorporate suggestions from my teammates into my track...it was hard and (I'm not sure it this is totally accurate) but I feel like if I had the same DAW as my teammate I could have utilized their suggestions better or at least gleaned some production techniques from them, like really sharing ideas, but it felt hard to do that going from FL or Logic to Reason, I still have very little idea how to fully utilize my workstation and having someone who can fill the role of teacher and teammate ( with regards to the tools they use and how work with) to guide me along, while helping bring together the artistic side of music production with the technical part of it and would have really helped me matriculate to a high level of music production. Other than that, I loved toeing it with the heavyweights of OCR, while my teammates cheer me on, those rounds that got me feeling like a Rocky v Apollo I'll be remembering those for a while. I want to thank my team Zero Treble and say way to be on the ball with the voting each week and It was great working with you, let's not lose touch after graduation..... -

mod review Bonus Room Blitz- I've Got Your Back!
YoshiBlade replied to YoshiBlade's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Yes actually you've helped me with that in the past timaeus , but I like the public discourse where as one person might say the Kick is too loud or someone else says the kick is fine, but the synth needs less reverb and a third person might say the synth is fine but the kick is too loud. I general look for the points that arise most frequently, with regards to criticism, for sort of statistical approach to what should be addressed Done and done -

Ok...I'm just gonna do it...I'm gonna bump this one last time, but I swear on pain of death, this will be my last attempt to get this one mod reviewed...if I get no nibbles.....( deep breath)..... I'm prepared to let this one fade into obscurity. -
Found a book that uses legos to put on the works of Shakespeare and now I can't stop thinking about Shakespeare...I just spent the last 2 hours memorizing the Witches' chant from Macbeth...but you know it's nice to go back and reread all the things you were forced to read in school, provides a deeper appreciation, when you aren't just reading to regurgitate facts about the story, but actually trying to understand the subtleties of the plays. So finished Hamlet, working on Macbeth gonna skip Romeo and Juliet, go Julius Caesar, then go back to Romeo and Juliet and then maybe throw myself a curve ball with Titus Andronicus. Also been playing FF Tactics If you want to win, gotta get that summoner.

I was feeling 1979/80-ish with my mix, right about the time when everyone and their grandma was cashing in on Disco music. In that strange territory of far lesser than The Bee Gees little better than Disco Duck; This should explain it .....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1tZUmCyFxM&t=0m50s -

This seems like the best place to put this out...looking for anyone who is willing to offer up a spot on their room floor for me to roll out my sleeping bag. I bring cash in hand ( let me know PM how much you require for a space) plus I can supply snacks, pop, Red bulls, you name it I'll bring it and I'll gladly supply a picture of my driver's license or what ever ID you ask to ensure I am who I say I am. Not a drinker, not a smoker, a prospective career in the medical field prohibits me from being around illegal drugs and I am not a thief. So if the cost of a room at the palatial Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center has you down, and you're looking for a way to stay and not break the bank or you're just a rad dude and want to help out a fellow traveler, send me a PM and let me know what you would require of me and we'll go from there! Thank You for your time! -

Yep, been having a go at the compos and not much time for smaller projects, but I've been sitting on this one for a bit and I would love....1) to see it finished 2) to hear some lyrics over it...both lofty goals, but for now I'll just see what you think of it As always Thank You for listening! I agree, this has taken way too much time but I need a consensus on this one...Ive , this is no joke, strained some relationships over whether or not these are chilli dogs and I want to throw down the gauntlet and either be right or wrong, so we can move on.

Please direct your attention to the photo below and answer this one question, that has caused more problems than rationality should allow...Are those Green things Chilli Dogs or not? If you'd like to cite evidence please do, but this is as much about impression, as is about fact...I was under the impression that Chilli Dogs were an invention of the cartoon and not the game. If there is evidence that the Game was the first to make mention of Chilli Dogs being Sonic's favorite food, then that would surely alter my world view requiring I give up my worldly possessions, reevaluate my life and start anew as an ascetic in the desert, as I strive to regain inner peace from the shards of a shattered life.
