  1. I've been waiting for this thread...Yeah the movie is mostly spot on for a Post-apocolycpitc genre and I feel it fits nicely above Mad Max BtT, below Road Warrior and slightly lower than the Original. That having been said, I feel the gimmicky 3d effects could have been done without, and funny you should say the guitar flamethrower guy, that guy did nothing but pull me out of the experience...Ok so fuel is in short supply, a staple of the Mad Max universe, buuuut ok here's a guitarist? On a built stage? Spewing flames? While Driving? Yeah that's not really something I'd image would occur in a petrol deprived future... I thought to use of story telling, where it's not explicit ala " You killed my father (DUN-DUN-DUUUUUNNNNNN)" but more subtle with each individual having an understandable motivation and the well thought out mythos, with the shreds of a former civilization weaved cleverly into the mythology of Cult of the V8. Yep haven't seen an action movie that's worth another viewing in awhile, so this one is definitely a go and see, if you haven't already.
  2. Could it be they both start with "Show" and sound vaguely similar? Very briefly they sound somewhat similar all of 4 seconds, but I doubt it was a conscious effort on the part of Maroon 5. as a side note found this....
  3. I feel like this is a relevant topic... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Sweet_Lord
  4. ^^^^^ Things we're getting a little heated...so please ,for a moment, enjoy a calming image from one of my favorite painters...here I'll throw in some soothing sounds ( Beach tide goes in......Beach tide goes out....Beach tide goes in.....[seagull call].....Beach tide goes out)
  5. I know most criticisms leveled here are subtractive in nature, but the only thing I could say is please, whatever you may do, don't change that guitar in any way...I heard that and felt nothing but rich maple goodness pouring from my speakers. I. Love. It. As a side note, both tracks feel like they're something straight out of American Beauty...hmm...I like it even more
  6. Yeah, I saw that, I'm not sure if 2 stars will sign up, so rather than have 1 person have to sit a round out, why not work together? This is all conjecture, if Mark wants to work with a star he should. I was just thinking of a contingency if there aren't enough stars. PS....TMNT? That was certainly a cartoon and lotta great TMNT VGM!
  7. If Mark is willing, may I pair with Mark Sparling? The Man's got chops that's for sure! I'm going to start now either way...
  8. So I haven't lost faith that this project needs to happen...if need be on unaffiliated Soundcloud playlist, then thats a start! The last login for the organizer was almost 2 years ago, so could this be logged as abandon property and ( at least until something more tangible comes to pass) can I take this project up and see if I can collect some tracks, then probably hand it off?
  9. It's all good TBH anyone is good with me ! Ive got it we'll rock paper scissors this one...rock, paper, scissors 1,2,3! (Throws paper) ok what did you throw?
  10. A chance to work with WillRock? That WillDo..HA! Workin on my dad jokes
  11. Hmm...ok so there is one other thing I need to get off my chest, with regards to aLBW...What's the deal with the bagpipe in Yuga's theme or one of his encounters? I remember when I encountered Yuga at some point I had my headphones on and then I get blasted with the most obnoxious sounding bagpipes(?) and had had to turn them down and thought WOW...a very rare miss for Zelda music. Other than that, soundtrack was spot-on, much love!...but still those bagpipes just stick out for me.
  12. Yeah I was half tempted to label it part 1 and part 2...ya know actually yeah im going to Pink Floyd this one. It's the same song but part 1&2...there is a Iceman Fireman mash-up (part3?) but its in another forum, I might add that one, but for now I need MOD feedback on the part 1&2 maybe I'll break it up, maybe not. I didn't want to make a new mix when I was feeling some synergy between the 2 of them seem to compliment each other...seriously though I realize musically it may not blend absolutely smoothly, but it is cut from the same cloth thematically, similar sounds and origins, does that count for anything?
  13. Ok So I've done it Plugman AND Splashwomen AND the Boss Select SplashWomen Plugman Remix https://soundcloud.com/yoshiblade1/plugman-remix-2-now-with-wav-2
  14. A fellow Ohioan eh? Well I can always make sometime to share my unprofessional, unsubstantiated and generally flawed criticism! Love the chippy synth at :36, but they're kind of drowning out the drums and the claps? I think the drums and clap are the best, but near :50 they seems like they're push to the background too much. I'm not sure...I love everything else, just the drums need to be boosted and maybe turn down some of the other instruments? This is WIP so I can tell these are things you're probably already working on! Seriously, I really don't know how to make music so everything with heaping amounts of salt, but trust me if you stay on the ball in the workshop, you'll get some better feedback in no time flat! Stay on it man!
  15. Nobody. Calls. Me. Chicken, Needles NOBDOY!...Here's my card. Scan it. I'm in.
  16. See now THAT'S how you charm a vote out of someone ....lets be real though, I always show some love for the vgm remixers...
  17. Oh sure... next you'll tell me the Golden Globes or Globetrotters are rigged too...
  18. Hey guy this is really cool! You've certainly got talent and I'm going to check this out, but maybe perhaps instead of asking for votes you ask for participation? I mean, the point of 1st place is for the person who produces the best, not the person who campaigns the best...good luck either way!!! oh...PS, making great music one Soundcloud?......oh you better believe that's a following...
  19. Nirvana, Aqua, Toy Box, Baltimore, Nu Shooz, Peter Shilling, many one-hit-wonders from the 80's and 90's represent people who ( at least to me) embody the ethos of "Just make it sound good!" I know that seems like I'm besmirching great artists, but the first and for most thing I look for is is it good...ignore whether it's technical or gonna change the world or use of trills on the 5th and 3rd notes...is it good? Also anyone who's working hard on here to make something, them too! Seriously Ben Briggs, Flexstyle, bLind because they don't feel removed from the community, but also everyone who puts their art out for examination in the Workshop too!
  20. I'd say the LttP ascetic...made me feel like I could enjoy it causes it's new and yet still give that warm nostalgia feeling when I'm playing it.
  21. SO FL 12 is coming to Mac(?) and I have been waiting to get my grubby little hands on that for sometime now, I've fiddled with the Beta version, it's not very Mac-ish yet, so I had a wee-bit-o trouble with some of the finer points and hotkeys, but felt awesome. Everything sounds so ready to go out of the box, the loop based nature makes me feel like I'm handling really big projects one step at a time, price tag looks nice, the piano roll felt like something I could learn. When it was suggested by none other than the Mad Scientist himself, flexstyle, I should look at Logic before I drop the cash. I've worked with Garageband, before anything else, the loops felt good, the setup for made me feel like the preset VST were great. I do have Cubase and I middy regret the purchase, when I got to working with it. There is no demo for Logic so this is the part where it's "door number 1 or door number 2" or maybe I'm approaching this the wrong way...share some wisdom. What I'm aiming for I rarely use live instruments I prefer Presets, as opposed to ground up synth making I've used Reason most of my career, and I love it Cubase was very difficult for me to use Mixing is my weakest point
  22. It's probably is, so I'll chalk this one under lesson learned.
  23. It's not letting me submit the new version... I don't want to cause a problem, but here's a link https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B80H6SsEW90wZ0lHV1VKS2JUa0k/view?usp=sharing I publicly apologize for surreptitious mixing and submitting a final product without notifying my team mate...I am contrite.
  24. SON OF A BITCH!!!! I SUBMITTED THE WRONG MP3!!!!! ....well I'll leave this one up to mindwanderer, but I do have the right version, it's mostly the same except timaeus had some transitions I put in...damn
  25. Well...im in, mostly finished, but there is still a pretty good chance Ill forget to submit it.
