  1. Do you mean examples of vaporware or examples of kickstarters that never delivered? For failed Kickstarters found this https://www.reddit.com/r/kickstarter/comments/1j6ubm/complete_list_of_funded_kickstarter_projects_that/ specifically for software http://kotaku.com/12-successful-kickstarters-that-never-delivered-1687019268
  2. Yeah I agree! What this game needs is some giant Dewback Lizards in the background and all the guns replaced with walkie talkies.... From a financial standpoint this is brilliant, but much like colorizing old B&W films it just seems misguided. Edit: to be more specific in my caution about throwing up our hats, I remember much of FF7 but I remember it how it was at the time, brilliant. Looking for Aerith in the empty abandoned city, better graphics won't change the tension or uneasiness I felt while searching for her. However Sony and SE only respond to cash incentives, so if the FF7 remake breaks all sales records, why make something new? FF8 remake FF9 ( I might be behind that one) the point is innovation will suffer and in all honesty FF is in need of something besides its marquee value. That being said this remake isnt a bad thing, but just some points to consider.
  3. Seriously this is a poignant observation. You remake games that had something flawed about them that can be corrected, FF7 has really nothing that can substantially added that would change the game for the better. It's like when they release BluRay updates to Citizen Kane...ok that's nice, but if I had any compliants about Citizen Kane it wasnt that it was in B&W or that it wasn't in HD
  4. Oh boy....I just had a chilling vision of DLC; weapons, materia and summons
  5. Awesome, it's about time they did something to fix that old broken boring Final Fantasy game! Now if only they'll get around to touching up those old dull Star Wars films and finally taking out all those guns from E.T. the Extraterrestrial.
  6. What happens if, like many projects tend to do, this game hits development hell and A) needs more funds or B ) The game never materializes? Seems like if there's anything worse than buying a bad game it would be paying for one that never comes out. I really couldn't find any concrete terms of use for the funds gathered. I know this is a sort of populist approach to venture capitalism, but when someone is playing with other's money it seems like a lot of the impetus to complete a project is attenuated ( or maybe strengthened depending on the ethical outlook of a company)? Still without Microsoft hovering over them, I think Rareware might make something worth playing...I miss seeing that golden R and knowing that meant quality.
  7. It's funny to think that 4 months ago Sony forgot to renew the trademark for The Last Guardian. Does that mean an individual could have snatched up the trademark in that brief time and then demanded a, probably unreasonable, licensing fee? Seems like it could have been a very costly oversight.
  8. I'm gonna go headlong into this one. I've cut my teeth over in the RWS and some of the other Compos and now I this feels like the natural progression upwards. When DarkeSword made mention of this one I was really excited to be apart of it, so now I'm going to waste no time putting some ideas together and trying to find some teammates. I've found fellow users of Reason usual make for a more* streamlined collaboration experience, so if there are any other Propellerheads out there who feel like teaming up, send me a PM and we'll figure something out! *TBH though I'll take who's willing, equal opportunity collaborator here
  9. Hey, I sent you an MP3, but haven't heard back...I'm still down to do this, just let me know if you want to pursue this one.
  10. Well, not to try and retcon this one too much, but what would you do if the Immortal Leader/God you've unconditionally worshiped your whole life was dragged back bleeding, broken and bested? I see not so much a giving up, but rather a realization of the the superstition, not a victory, in a military sense, but a new awareness. Why fight for a dead faulty belief system?
  11. Well it's probably just another sort of body modification or war paint...I know that some armed non state actors will give their foot soldiers drugs to fire them up...Khat was given to Somali soldiers during the Battle of Mogadishu to compensate for the lack of training and there have been reports of suicide attackers using drugs to suppress fear and increase aggression. I thought they were using the chemicals to huff, ala Jet from Fallout
  12. No, no you misunderstood me, I really think everyone should see this movie while holding a pigeon, it really adds to the action and provides a unique experience, a pigeon-holdinging experience...
  13. Oh boy...I feel like a "search Ron Paul" plug is just a few posts away... Seriously thought why do we have to pigeonholed a movie as Feminists? It seems to me this movie takes a different approach to what we've come to expect from a general male dominated film industry. Was Alien a feminist film? Not in my view, but it addressed the idea of masculinity and had some very strong subtext about rape that conveyed a visceral message about sexual assault that some males couldn't understand explicitly, so it was done ( very effectively) implicitly, tapping in to a more subconscious reaction. So maybe this movie isn't feminist, but conveys some ideas that a male might not see in the same way as a female?
  14. Ok so Yooka-Laylee has been born of the ashes of Rareware and in honer of what will surely be Rare's rebirth, surely, I'm looking to recruit a few individuals for an EP of remixes from our favorite blue backpack bearing boisterous Breegull and bear brethren. This has been attempted before and I tried to glen ownership of the former BK remix album, but I got no feedback, so I'm going to ditch it from an Album to an EP ( ~5-7 tracks) and see if I get any nibbles, This is kind of a bellwether to see who's interested. I make no grandiose promises, if this winds up as a playlist on Soundcloud, I will be equally as satisfied if it gets a sanctioned release, you make the call if you'd like to be apart of it, but one step at a time...baby-steps. The only way this can fail is if none shows up, but that's not gonna stop me from mixing up a BK track. No genre restrictions, per se, but tracks with energy are a must. I'm not going to reserve any spots, equal opportunity recruiter here, if there are 5 Bubblegloop Swamp and 1 Rusty Bucket Bay, that's mostly* ok with me. Keep in mind the love of Banjo-Kazooie is the driving factor here; love the game, love the music, love to work together, love to remix. If you fulfill those requirements drop me a WIP, I've been working on a Gruntilda's Lair mix and I'd love it if you would join me *but variety is the spice of life
  15. Hmmm...well I have a jazz template of Starman Theme ( very simple, mostly backing, but well produced) that has been gathering dust for sometime. If I've piqued any interest, PM me and I'll send a link.
  16. For those of use who use more.....Reason....in our remixes, how should we utilize the secret ingredient? I'll start work, so if anyone Propellerheads out there feel like tag-teaming this thread me ASAP.
  17. Though there is a lot of room for interpretation here, I feel like most of the labels people keep placing on this movie stem mostly from the absences of any concrete story line, Drive vehicle from A to B avoiding antagonists(...hmmm...that about sums of much of what makes the Mad Max franchise good) not to say it's poorly written, just the room for interpretation is usually the hallmark of good art. Maybe it's a retelling of the Vietnam War? Maybe I saw a critique on the War on Terror? Placing a label of Feminist simply because it had a female protagonist and some strong female leads, seems myopic. Bad guys always seem to be stealing women and (metaphorically) tying them to railroad tracks this is nothing new to storytelling, but having a female lead who isn't fawning over someone else or waiting to be recused is a more uncommon female protagonist. It's good to feel some vindication on that one...
  18. Oh no big deal...lemme just give you back your knife, I found it.......................in MY BACK!!!
  19. Sooo this was a good round, anything above 3 entrants is a good round IMO. Great Job Everyone! So with that being said, there are great machinations afoot! Darkesword is mulling around the idea of a of a Megaman X Gauntlet and a simple post is a affirmation of interest! So, if you haven't already had a chance swing by and leave a message, why not and if you're opposed to the idea of a huge MMX Remix Style Throw-Down-To-Decide-The-Fate-Of-The-Universe...well then go crawl back under that bridge and continue to harass those billy goats gruff.
  20. How does it feel to make someone's day? This is pure gold...err...chrome
  21. Wait this is good...very good. Mega Man X? Oh so very good!
  22. Yeah, but as a Mad Max movie it felt very out of place. It felt like the filmmakers were trying to be cool and made themselves just too cool for school. I get the ostentatiousness display as a sort of (Dis?)honest signaling, but it reminds me too much when like the villain cuts themselves with a blade to show how fearless they are, just seems too over the top not a functional apart of the movie mythology ...it just doesn't seem like something that would exists in the Mad Max Universe to be more precise. I guess its when a director tries to change some part of the universe that doesn't seem to fit congruently, like in Aliens franchise, if the Xenomorphs started talking (which almost happened) I would feel confused and upset. I suppose someone could say "yeah, but they're evolving to better survive by using language!" Yeah, that's very logical...but it would just seem gimmicky and it seems the better aspects of the mythology are the one's that are left up to the viewer to figure out without going in to the details of it, as if the shattered remnants of the world are punctuated by the shattered take on history, like for me I feel like they didn't actually find old Norse Mythology, but found those hyper-masculine 1980's metal bands and parlayed them into a religion or cult for Immortal Joe's own purpose. Speaking of hyper-masculine... I feel that designation is very apropos. One of the main tenants of Feminism, to my understanding, is that historically the male sex has established a system that disenfranchise females who don't fulfill the male perspective of what a female should or shouldn't do or be. So in the 1950's by not hiring females, the only viable way for a female to exist would be to depend on a male or lead a hard life. This is very much the case, the females are either used for breeding or used as wet nurses for any offspring the Alpha Male produces. Any female who attempts to live out side that has a hard life existing in the male dominated War Rig(?) driving or the polluted desert. The women living outside the realm of Immortal Joe seemed more independent and able to exist without the aid of a male, albeit a harder life. Joe a chauvinistic male who hordes the resources for his own desire, I doubt very much Joe had any intention of returning the world to a preapocalyptic state, he may have even been one of the engineer's of the apocalypse, as he is shown to have medals and his name of the Colonel in some references. So he, as a male, is benefiting from the suffering of those around him, the desperation of the people, as a way to secure reproductive rights with females who are clearly dissatisfied with being labeled property and used solely for breeding. Also this plays up the very male dominated, tendency of a male dominated cults for the old men using the young men's sacrifice or exile to secure their genetic lineage ( see sons of perdition), where as there seems to be less exploitation among the female, Amazonian-esqu tribe, with less focus on passing on their individual genes and more focus on group survival as apposed to any one individual being the lone one who gets to reproduce, by the fact they are hoping to replant the many long dead plants, as apposed to fighting to see who gets to reproduce.
  23. Whooops! That'd be TMNT Turtles in Time Boss Theme.
  24. I feel like this could become a nice MusicTropes forum...let's keep this up!
  25. I once was able to glitch OoT into letting me run around in the area in the clouds after where Zelda sends you back to your original time. You had to do the SLG then hope on Epona, then run around in the Gerudo Training grounds and a whole bunch of stuff I cannot recall...It was awhile ago, they called it the "Sky Temple" but it was just a cloud background you could walk around in...not much else...still cool
