Finally, the wait has been almost unbearable for this game. We have been anticipating it literally all year. My mom is really excited about it too. When I was younger, I didn't like the Beatles that much, but as I got older and got a much larger appreciation for music and more musical experience, they really appealed to me. My favorite song is probably "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". I'm going to cover that song someday, with heavy guitars. I'm really looking forward to the gameplay. From what I've heard, you can forget to play and get lost in the beautiful visuals. There's some kind of tear-jerking ending or something from what I've heard, and cinematic sequences after each venue I think? Not sure yet. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to getting this. I'm going to try to save some money and get it used from Gamefly if they ship it tomorrow. Because it's not really used if they ship it. It's new, but I can get it for a used game price. But we'll see if that works. Who else here is getting it? For the xbox360, we could get a party together if others are getting it here?

Tweex Music Composes Music for Air Jamaica Commercial!

Congrats Tweek on the music for the commercial deal. -
That is fantastic advice from everyone and I think I have a general idea now. Thanks!

Hi. The more I think about this question, the more confused I get about it. I wanted to ask how much of a remix was allowed to be original, but if you really think about it, converting an orchestral piece into a laid back reggae song is pretty much a complete recreation of the song with just including the basic melody of the song in it. So I am officially confused about this. I know your mix can't be TOO CLOSE to the original source track, but how far from the original source is it allowed to be? I listened to the brand new Lost Odyssey mix that was just posted today, and I was even more confused about this. As far as my memory serves me (which isn't very far to be perfectly honest), I didn't recognize the song at all in the remix. It's almost like it was its own original song. I am posting this with hopes that a bunch of passing remixers will come in here and share their wisdom about the proper way to rearrange a track for OCR.. thanks.

OCR01899 - Lost Odyssey "Ubon Orih, Latrom Mieht"
Brandon Strader replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I really liked the percussion for the most part, especially when the song erupts into chaos around 2:30, but I think that the remix is too different from the original source track. When I listened to it, I couldn't even recall the original track because they are so different. Lost Odyssey does have really incredible music but I don't think this remix represents enough of it--it's too different. Good job though, and the song was very well done. -
I want to work more with you in the future on songs, pleeaaase... By the way, kitten mittens are hilarious. My cat loves 'em.

I haven't seen it yet. Ass!

The best part about birthdays at OCR is that standardized email they send to everyone on their birthday, like, automatically. I've been getting those things for years. Actually I think I used to have different accounts with a couple emails (which have since been merged) so I would actually get multiple happy birthday emails. Good times, good times. I really hope you enjoyed your birthday email from the OCR system this year, PoD.

Robot Master Mayhem is ready to "Rock".
Brandon Strader replied to Glux247's topic in Recruit & Collaborate!
I would sign on to this project in a heartbeat. One of my dreams is to make music for video games... I guess remixes count if you guys aren't looking for original material. Could you share some more information on this game? Like what platform is it for? -
Happy birthday, sir! You know the Lich King or whatever from WoW was also called Prince of Darkness. I remember because Ozzy was on the commercials.

My mom listens to all of the one hour compos because I'm involved with that, but I don't think she'd be interested in the straight up podcast deal about OCR. I don't even think she knows what OCR is, which to some extent, is probably a good thing. She wouldn't understand the type of behavior that takes place here and on the IRC. So will my mum be listening to the podcast? Probably not, but if there was even the slightest chance that she would have been interested in it and would have enjoyed listening to the voices of you guys for half an hour, I definitely would have linked her. Then again, you never know. After hearing the OHC, she might become more interested in the music... in which case... I dunno... I might burn her a CD. ;D

I'll admit it - I like newer games

The Force Unleashed >_> Man that game was annoying, but I actually played through it to the end, which is more than I can tolerate for most games. So yeah, it was kinda cool. Castle Crashers got boring super fast. Partially because I beat it in like an hour. x_x -
Well, hooray. I'd just like to say it has been great working amongst these other talented musicians and yatta, yatta, yatta... Can't wait to hear the whole thing!

I think I've been spoiled by the constant internet connection, voice chat, friend lists, and achievements for accomplishing goals that comes with modern gaming. There's a social element to it that is most of the reason I'm still a gamer. It's good to be... social. -

Hey. I have to agree with you there, though I am very sad to say I have never finished Chrono Cross. I got to the part where you are tasked to defeat a few dragons or something across the map. I killed one dragon in some kind of underground place, and I wasn't able to get the other dragons to come out and I couldn't figure out what I had to do in the story to trigger them, so I was never able to finish. I still have a PS2 slim and the game though so I might give it a try from the beginning someday. As for liking newer games more, I have to agree. I also like to play remakes of older games or older franchises, in general. Though I have to say remakes like the new "Bionic Commando" seem a little disappointing, but I never played the original. So yes, I loved Oblivion to the point where I wished I lived there. I still have flashbacks to my times at the Waterfront. Incredibly enjoyable game. I wish I could delete all my achievements from my game and re-earn them just so I would have the motivation to play through the game again. I think I spent around 80 hours just living on it. I really didn't like Fallout 3 that much. I thought it was disappointing. I thought the movement system and fighting was way too similar to Oblivion, for what should have been an action game / first person shooter... The guns were way too weak. As soon as I got Fawkes as a partner, I found I didn't even have to fight. I could just rely on him completely. Unlike Dogmeat who died in the first confrontation we had. I played Madden NFL 06 and really liked it. I was surprised by how much fun I had because I'm really not a football fan, but I always loved running down the fields in football games. My brother in law and I have been playing through Gears and Gears 2 on insane difficulty. It's been a pretty awesome ride. I wanted to play through Gears 2 again so bad, even though I had already played through it twice. I really liked the story. >_< Upcoming stuff for me... Well I've got the guitar hero drums set up with double bass pedals, so I'm excited for this GH5 and free Van Halen pre order deal, I'm going to have those 2 and get The Beatles for my mom because she loves the Beatles. We'll play that one together. I'm always on drums and I've gotten pretty good. I think if I had a real kit (which I totally can't afford) I would actually be able to hold a beat. I also play Rock Band 2, GH: Metallica, and World tour on occasion, always looking for friends to play with on those. So... I mean I remember having great times playing the Chip 'n' Dale Chipmonks game for the NES but I haven't thought of playing it for a looong time. The music doesn't annoy me. I've actually been getting more interested in chiptune music lately, but most of it isn't very good that I've heard so far. -
I want a FF8 remake more than a FF7 remake. I'd be perfectly happy with a FF7 port for the XBLA. Stop telling me it's not going to happen.
-
I loved FF8 and 10. I rank 10 above 7. Also 9 was incredible. It got a little lame after the whole "every main character we ever make is created in a test tube" angle. They kept it for FF10.. Hahah. Wait, was Squall made in a test tube? I think he was just an orphan. That's what is cool about FF8. It breaks away from the typical "test tube baby" final fantasy style.

You have 'nothing to do' this week... Did you finish that DKC2? I can't wait to hear how it sounds after to finish it + mix the vocals. What are you? By the way... I loved every FF I've beaten, which is 1, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10...and then Blue Dragon and I'm working on Lost Odyssey. Yeah, FF after FFX don't count as final fantasy to me.

I am honestly excited to hear how it has all come out. I admit I signed on pretty late in the game so I'm not really that familiar with the history of this project and everything that has happened with it over the last 3 or howmany years. But I am very proud and excited to be present now that this project is officially going to be coming to a close. The whole Foxhull being gone situation is a bit worrisome though.

I was just reading the Album Projects guideline document because I was confused about something. It said threads get moved here when they are 75% completed and are bringing in final versions. Is this Lufia project really 75% completed? Because I thought it looked like there had been a lot claimed and a few WIPs turned in. Does the 75% completion just refer to the amount of claims you have on your tracks or does it count WIPs or final tracks?

I was actually hoping to make a Celtic song in the near future, but I have very little knowledge Celtic music in general. I've heard Enya of course, the FF4 Celtic Moon, and other stuff. This Celtic Journey you linked is really great. I always try to find this kind of stuff but I never know where to look. This CD is "out of print and hard to find" now and the youtube quality isn't as good as it should be. :'(
