  6. wow, i just read the judges decision thread for this one--how can this not be instantly accepted? I think this is one of shnabubula's best works, and one of the best works on the site. I feel like Shnabubula's compositions teeter on the line between genius and insanity I guess then again, it really took me a few good listens in the car to realize how incredible this is... but seriously this is ridiculous
  7. well, first you practice until it sounds right. then you play it for others like that Good ways of practicing though.. hmm... what I do, on my rigerous practice-to-make-up-my-freshman-jury-so-i-don't-fail-out-of-college schedule is actually budget out time for each thing I'm working on, with comments next to it based on what I want to concentrate on that session. Another thing that helps is recording yourself. i haven't been able to do this much lately because my minidisc isn't working, but you'll be surprised to hear what you think you're doing, but not actually are. Or vise versa.
  8. jeez, I do a lot of performing but I dunno.. what do you mean?
  9. The first song I ever wrote was in 4th grade. My first experiences with midi were in 8th grade The first video game related thing I did was probably in 1th grade (midi, of course) The first serious remix I ever made was during this May The first serious remix using digital software I ever made started last month

  11. It's up to them (*shackles clink as hand points to Jill and Andy*). I'll talk to them about it. I'll cover whatever content we all think needs to be covered. I think it's going to be doubtful though. They're going to say it's not a music competition. Just you watch. YEAH THOSE JERKS
  12. my keyboard is only a few years younger than I am
  13. well, flute. I guess "I dabble." I THINK the trill fingerings are when you use the two little keys that you find between the major holes of the instrument--because those notes are in an akward placement on the instrument. You get into situations where you have to jump octaves, which makes it almost impossible to trill without a little help. As for sound, I hear it helps to "smile" when you blow. And use warm air, air from the bottom of your lungs. Don't blow with the force that you would blow out a candle with. It's not about power of air, it's about volume of air. It makes me dizzy My dad's a band teacher, I'll ask him tomorrow morning
  14. ACK! sorry man! I must not have seen it :[ I'll make sure to try to catch it next time.

  18. Okay okay okay. This is gonna be an awesome 800th post At first it was a little wierd. I did the installation process that was on the cd, and that went fine. I pluggd in the UNO, and opened up Cakewalk Sonar, found a track that I had put some edirol sounds over, and played my keyboard. SUCCESS! Though there was delay, it was playing through my computer! I tried recording some stuff, and it came in just as I had played it, with velocities and everything. However, at some point, windows pulled the "there's a thing in your usb, look for drivers?" deal, which made me angry. So I said yes, looked for the drivers on the cd which was still in there, and basically did the installation all over again. It said it wasn't cleared for Windows XP, but it works fine, and I've heard that from other people too. But yeah, I normally record as I'm playing. The delay confuses me a bit, so what I do is turn my computer volume down, keyboard volume up (sometimes I have to turn the keyboard off and on so that it makes it's own sound), and play like that. I haven't tried using anvil studios or anything like that yet, but I'm not as concerned about that right now. So yeah it works well.
  19. I got the midisport uno, and it's awesome. Affordable and does exactly what it's supposed to
  20. actually an ocr drum battle would be pretty hot any video game music that's just drums?
