  1. Well, I like the idea but I'd say what I have is already 80% on its way and with my other commitments I don't have a lot of time available to me. Sure, we could turn it into a collab track or so, but with the current deadline that might be tricky (not to mention that I asked Tuberz McGee to record some parts for me and have to check that too). So I'm not opposed to the idea but have to keep the stuff above in mind. Also curious about MindWanderer's thoughts, since he's the organiser
  2. I feel ya, because I'm in the same boat. I have 2 other deadlines on May 1st and a few other ones soon after that. It almost starts to feel like work in stead of a hobby
  3. I also had serious trouble getting started (_way_ more than usual). Due to the nature and amount of sources I got lost and I found it hard to generate ideas. But once I had something basic to start with, it became easier and now I have something decent (mind, still not as good as I wished but hopefully enjoyable enough). So I share your pain and hope you'll reconsider so we can have a final round where we both are not fully satisfied with our own tracks. We can't have Dracula roam free without a fight, eh?
  4. I've picked my sources (spoilers: more than 2) and have the basics down. Loads of rough edges to fix, but I think I have it cleaned up on time.
  5. Yessir, all going according to plan here! Hope to see some more entries though.
  6. I have no idea what technomanga is, but judging by a preview I heard earlier I bet it's totally enjoyable Looking forward to it!
  7. I haven't really chosen yet but I have a shortlist of 5 tracks now. Hope to lay down some tracks later this week, even though I mght have to forego my initial idea
  8. I just went over the sources for the final round and damn, you're not making it easy for us These tracks are pretty quirky and mostly consist out of scales, arps and suspense devices, not the melodic content I prefer to work with. Awell, OA has the same challenge so we'll just have to make do
  9. Ah, I see you gave this to yourself as a birthday present
  10. And one more finished track! I just submitted my take on Green Hill Zone. Can't wait until you guys hear it, but unfortunately you have to wait for it
  11. Still going through my backlog of stuff to finish. This one is high on the list since it's already like 85% done, hope to make some good progress in the next few weeks.
  12. I'm also not that familiar with the story lines, but by the looks of it he picked a source from every single Castlevania game that's about a protagonist vs. evil boss (Dracula in all of them?), and I find that to be a pretty appropriate theme. Also a similar theme for the epilogue; the Evergreen has a nice sense of closure and lament in there. Another good source for the epilogue would have been this one I think, but that's mostly IMHO and irrelevant: (or the original in stead https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsnuoPfSLK4) (gosh, I love that track!)
  13. I know, I know, I was just joking. I might end up throwing in some references to the other tracks in (in)appropriate and sneaky places but I'll stick to the core theme. I'm really not up to incorporating all of the sources in a single track atm, but it would be a nice challenge to do something like that some day.
  14. I see what you did there. Nice, I like it No bonus points for including more source tracks I guess?
  15. So I did this remix of Wicked Child (classic Castlevania track) with Moonlight Nocturne from Symphony of the Night for the Cacaphony of Incarnation compo here on OCR a few weeks back. It's a 3/4 orchestral 'waltz' style and since I'd like to polish it up a bit more and submit it to the panel I think I can use any feedback I can get So... any thoughts?
  16. What I'm seeing in another community that I've been involved in for over a decade, is that the core members are getting older and as because of that other things take up their time (family and work mostly) than their hobbies. I suspect something similar might be happening here, with people transitioning from college to Real Life™? So no more abundance of free time and more other commitments that all fight for that small bit of free time. I know for a fact that when I was studying I had a lot more free time and energy than nowadays. Thanks man! And yes, I have plans to polish up the 3 tracks so far and have them NO'ed by the judges somewhere down the line First gotta polish one more track from the Sigma Fortress compo from last year tho. Anyway, I'll patiently wait for this round to close and am good with whatever comes out of it.
  17. I think I'm only good for one more track tops, so I guess that's option 3 or 4 for me. I do want to point out that I still had (have) a lot of fun with the compo and that I'm a bit sad that it has dwindled a bit after the big initial round. But yeah, for me personally things are a bit hectic atm and finding time and energy for the compo is tough.
  18. Yeah, I noticed that.. 3 out of 3 submits NO-ed In all seriousness, the new guys provided excellent and constructive feedback, so kudos!
  19. That took you all of 10 minutes? Wow Anyway, good step; welcome guys, and good luck with the queue!
  20. For those who were curious, here's the "lyrics" for "Kill The Groove": Wicked Child, do the dance, make a move Crack the whip, kill the groove Crack the whip, before I kill the groove Wicked Child, do the dance, make a move Crack the whip before I kill the groove Wicked Child, with your Heart of Fire Dance all night to feed your dark desire Into the castle, down into the lair Dance with the devil, there is no despair Crack the whip and step into the groove Dracula, he makes your body move (2x) Body move Body move Crack the whip, before I kill the groove Feel the beat Kill the groove Feel the beat That makes your body move (2x) And let nobody kill the groove
  21. For myself I'll put it like this: if there's going to be a Dracula Round 3, I'll do my best to participate, but these past weeks have been pretty hectic and it has been tough to find the time and energy for the compo. Lesson learned here is that I should keep in mind that joining a compo isn't the best of ideas if you have too much other stuff going on
  22. Dracula is quite effective and neutralizing his opponents indeed. Looking at the amount of people we started with, he already claimed quite a few. Wonder who will be the last (wo)man standing.
  23. Yeah, IIRC there's one final battle between the winner of the regular round and the winner of the looser bracket. If I read it well it's mostly for kicks because it's about whether or not the winner of the regular round will be the sole ultimate victor or will have to share that title. Interesting concept, I guess we'll find out how it goes
  24. Heh. We've been having these banners for the compo for weeks now, and only just now I noticed that each banner has a screenshot specific to the track/location. Duh. In other news, get well soon MW!
  25. Hahaha, at least you guys are better at doing deadline stuff at the last moment. My big push was on monday, and yeah, that 1am sounds awfully familiar. The sleepiness too btw...
