  1. Sent my entry in yesterday. Wanted to polish it a bit more but couldn't find the time or the energy, alas. Looking forward to the other entries! Oh, these jobs that allow you to do OCR stuff at work and only do work-work on mondays sound pretty good
  2. Arrangement wise I'm pretty much done, I also have lyrics (silly stuff, since they are mine and the track needs it), my main worry is getting the production into a decent shape (as usual, but now I have only a few hours to iron things out). It will probably be a bit rough here and there, but since I'm in the losers bracket I'm not competing with OA and Wildfire anyway *edit: just wrote out the lyrics, and man they are silly out of context!* Hope to see some other entries in the Dracula bracket too! I feel lonely there atm
  3. Hah, only just now noticed it's also sorted by 'last active'! Very convenient, thanks! The date formatting seems helpful, but for me the old dates also work just fine. As soon as these human readable dates go over a month they don't work that well for me anymore.
  4. I ditto the slow start myself, but I think I know what I'm doing with this song too, even though it's a bit of an experiment
  5. Heh, a hall of shame, very cool I actually have an example of a the exact same song before I became active on OCR and started taking music more seriously: before OCR and after OCR. I definitely sense a difference in variation, arrangement, own influences and overall progress in my own work (yes, I know, that 'after OCR' version could have been better still but that's not the point)
  6. Okay, you can add Aster and Furilas as contributors to my track
  7. Thanks for the reminder, I'll reach out to Aster and see if we can make things work. If we do, I'll let you know!
  8. Usually my collabs involve guest musicians who record parts for me that in general I wrote an initial MIDI mockup for. Since my WIP is still far from a near finished mockup, I didn't reach out to any potential collaborators yet. So there's no collabs as of yet, but I hope to do some, as live instruments (probably guitar and harmonica) really would help the track.
  9. Hm, that June 1st date sounds pretty soon, doesn't leave a lot of room for collabs (which I want to do) because they typically involve waiting for the other person(s) to find some time to work on it. I can probably get the arrangement itself done, but if it includes waiting for collabs and polishing the mix it's gonna be tight for me. But maybe it's just me being used to album projects taking multiple years
  10. Okay, I'll bite. Give me the title theme from Sonic 1 to chew on too! /blackdoommademedoit
  11. Hah, a rematch against WarMachine! I'm game
  12. Didn't really expect that clean sweep after I had difficulties finding time, energy and inspiration in an overly busy 2 weeks, but I'm very pleased with the results! Hope the next round goes as well
  13. Happy to lend some advice here and there! Having said that, the judges at OCR always have the most issue with my production skills so not sure how helpful that is
  14. I've got 2 other town themes in progress that might fit the bill, but since I already have quite a list of tracks and albums I need to finish first I won't commit to anything just yet. And since I already contributed 2 tracks I'm not sure a 3rd track is a good idea I'll keep an eye open though, I like the theme enough to do one more
  15. I came from a background in trackers (on a retro computer) where I made looping songs that lasted less than a minute. Now I make stuff that lasts some 3-4 minutes on average, has an intro, an ending, some bridges or breaks and more variation in between. Maybe not as extreme as Will does it, but OCR has definitely help push and grow my arrangement skills.
  16. Okay, I'll bite. Sign me up for Mountains. I expect to do an orchestral/rock hybrid, it's screaming for some dark guitar chugging!
  17. Well... we could also try this collab-on-some-orchestra/cinematic-stuff idea But yeah, I have a current project load too that I need to clear first (like 4 of 'em).
  18. Good to see this project making a comeback, the concept is so cool that it deserves it I like the idea of an optional hero theme incorporated in it. Checking in. I have one track good to go and already submitted to the panel, and another one 80%-ish done. Both tracks are in the project forums too, C&C appreciated. The second track (from Ys 3) has another track from Ys 3 mixed in, but it's not a hero track. Hope it's not a problem.
  19. Ask one of the forum mods to add you to the project forum?
  20. If you feel like it, we can also collab again to ease the pain
  21. You're just intentionally being BadAss
  22. I'm afraid so... But since you are good at orchestral stuff and I submitted an orchestral track in the Dracula bracket, I will bother you for some feedback. So you are participating somewhat
  23. Yay, entry submitted! And I'm even pretty satisfied with it, even though I couldn't tune the midi orchestra as much as I'd have wished because of deadlines Looking forward to hearing the other entries!
  24. Thanks! If only I was as happy about my track myself I really need to look into the mixing side of things and add the final recordings before I'm happy myself. Whistling was done by me, btw.
  25. Likewise here... Due to work taking a lot of effort these past few weeks, I didn't have a lot of time and energy to work on my track. I'll submit something, but it might be a bit raw. Also hope I can work out this challenge I have... Wicked Child doesn't translate easily to 3/4
