The Spider-Man franchise needed a reboot.

You are the best person. Man, this game is so good. It's got such a classic feel, and the level design is really good too.

Mega Man round 2 remixes are up.

Match-ups for the Proto Mans are up. Tallies will go up when I get around to it.

Well it's 12:12 and I've got nothing, so I'm lockin' it down at 6 mixes. Voting and doing results right now, but a lot of these are pretty one-sided, so I might call the winners early and do tallies later. Mega Man Round 2 mixes will go up after.

It is foolish to judge a comic book movie in comparison to comic books themselves. The medium of serialized superhero comic book fiction does not lend itself well to a film adaptation that can be both faithful to its source and fiscally successful.

I think the source usage is fine; I don't see this piece as a vehicle for original writing; stylistically and harmonically things stay with it. Fantastic arrangement; great percussion too, some of those fills are really awesome. Love the guitars and the performance throughout. I like it! Tally ho! YES

Great arrangement. Straightforward, but still expands. Not crazy about the synth lead; kind of vanilla. Love the organ stuff at 2:20. Some timing issues on the rhythm guitar, but it's not a dealbreaker. YES

Very nice work. Breakdown helps, but once I refamiliarized myself with the source tunes, had no trouble following. Fantastic sequencing on your part, great part-writing, very cinematic. The dynamics in this piece are very broad and well utilized. Just great. YES

In other news, my apologies to ImmoralBlack. I missed one of your votes and I've added you back into the results. I've re-uploaded the zip file for this week's mixes because I forgot the album art in the tags. Grab the files again, or wait until the very very end of the competition in a month or two when I post ONE BIG ZIP WITH ALL THE REMIXES.

No, it's not really that big of a deal in this case, but I just wanted to make sure to say it, because more and more people were talking about maybe doing it. I'm not trying to single anyone out.

There seems to be a lot of talk about "starting early." I figured it wouldn't need to be said but don't start your mixes early. Obviously I can't enforce this but we should all try to play fair and adhere to the start and stop times. It's good to be competitive but lets try to maintain a sense of sportsmanship.

Results are up, with voting tallies linked below the bracket graphic. I really, really need to stress the importance of voting in every battle that is posted. If you just look at the thread for Draconiator vs. prophetik, you'd think he won, but there are a lot of votes for him that had to be discounted because those voters didn't vote in some other battles. We need to be fair to all participants, which means if you're voting in a round, make sure you pay equal attention to all the contestants' entries. Also, like I said before, you can't post "it's a draw!" That isn't a vote at all, and I ended up not counting someone's votes because they did that. It's a shame, but it's fair. Also I realize that having separate threads and voting this way is not the most efficient and makes us more prone to forgetting to vote on certain tracks, but right now I don't have the time or the resources to build a voting system the way I want it to work. Hopefully by next year (or this fall during GMRB 2011) I'll be able to build a voting system that works better. Congratulations to the folks advancing, and really everyone who participated in the first half of the first round. Proto Man remixes will be going up after I eat lunch.

Guys, when you vote, you can't declare a draw. You have to vote for someone. Argh.
