  1. Yes, TV-Nihon is a subtitling group. Every episode we watch is subtitled.
  2. That would be Leland Chee, the Keeper of the Holocron. Talk about your dream job.
  3. I enjoyed that Alpine-styled payload map we played last night. I forget the name.
  4. Star Wars is a multi-million dollar franchise with tons of new material coming out all the time: novels, comics, games, etc. Keeping track of continuity and minimizing contradictions is extremely important when so many creative minds are involved. The Expanded Universe would be a nightmare to follow if Lucas Licensing didn't make a concerted effort to keep things relatively consistent.
  5. They're officially considered C-canon (Continuity Canon). Lucas Licensing actually organizes everything into different "levels" of canon. G-Canon (George Lucas Canon) is all six movies and anything that comes from Lucas directly (production notes, etc). T-Canon (Television Canon) is Star Wars TV stuff, like Clone Wars and the upcoming live action series. C-Canon (Continuity Canon) is the current "Expanded Universe." Republic Commando books, New Jedi Order, Fate of the Jedi, Darth Bane novels, all the Old Republic stuff. S-Canon (Secondary Canon) is old stuff that doesn't necessarily fit. Marvel's old Star Wars comics are a good example. N-Canon (Non-Canon) is all the off the wall Star Wars stuff, like Infinities and all those kooky Star Wars Tales stories (like Jedi Chef and that one Pulp Fiction spoof with Yoda and Mace eating burgers). G, T, and C technically all form one overall canon, but for the purposes of discussing Anakin's role as the Chosen One and the prophecy about bringing balance to the force, you should just concern yourself with G-Canon.
  6. I'm sure everyone here is pretty familiar with Power Rangers. It was one of those shows we all watched for far longer than we ever admitted to. Hell, I watched it right up to the end of Power Rangers In Space. After that I sort of stopped following it, but I was always interested in checking out the original Japanese versions, the "Super Sentai" series. A couple of years ago I decided to start downloading subtitled episodes of Mahou Sentai Magiranger, and totally got into it. The music, the effects, the over-the-top action were all great, and even the story, while kiddy, still had some depth. After that I watched Boukenger and Gekiranger, which were pretty awesome. Last year's Sentai, Go-onger, was pretty terrible, so I kind of dropped that, but the latest show in the series completely makes up for that. SAMURAI SENTAI SHINKENGER Samurai Sentai Shinkenger is TOEI's latest show in the Super Sentai line. It's about a young lord and his four retainers who transform into Shinkengers, colorful samurai-styled warriors to fight the Gedoushuu, evil spirit monsters who are trying to fill up the Sanzu River by causing despair. I've been watching this show for a little over two months now, and I have to say that it's probably the best Sentai show I've seen yet. The tone is slightly more subdued and mature, and the characters are all pretty memorable. The action and swordfights are a cut above the rest; it's really fantastic. Bleck and I watch this show weekly, and we've actually started jumping on Skype and watching it in sync so that we can provide commentary on the episode. When we were watching episode 9 yesterday, we decided that it'd be fun if more people watched this show with us. If you're interested in checking this series out and catching up, you can hit up TV-Nihon's tracker and download the episodes via Bitorrent. They're available in standard definition and HD 720. http://tvnihon.com/tracker/browse.php?cat=81 If people are interested, I'm totally down with setting up a viewing party on Skype to watch some of the early episodes. Hope you guys check it out. Let's Bushido!! -- Quick Note: this thread isn't for Kamen Rider. If someone wants to make a kamen rider thread, go ahead, but please stay on topic in this thread. Thanks.
  7. Bringing "Balance" to the force didn't really have anything to do with mathematics. Plus when Vader killed Palpatine/Sidious, he was no longer a Sith but a Jedi, so you could argue that the score was 2-0, in favor of the Jedi. Then he dies, and then you're left with 1-0. That's still unbalanced, mathematically speaking. Bringing "balance" to the Force isn't about evening out the Light Side and the Dark Side. The Dark Side, specifically in the manner that the Sith practice, is chaotic and upsets the Force. By destroying Palpatine/Sidious and dying, he removed the Sith from--and this is a really poor word choice I'm about to make--the equation. With no Sith practitioners, the chaos is gone, balance is restored, and everything resets back to zero.
  8. I suppose you're saying that TPB is UPS in this case? Doesn't really work. Your ISP is UPS here. TPB is the company that publishes the catalog that tells you where to send away for the illegal goods. Still not illegal, but not exactly innocent either.
  9. That's the point. You'll eventually see the tags on the remix detail page.
  10. The word you're all looking for is "canon," not "cannon." A "cannon" is a mounted gun for firing heavy projectiles.
  11. Apple will never allow applications that can download music directly into the iPhone/iPod touch music library. As cool as it would be, don't count on it. That said, you can always set up some kind of podcast feed that you can set your iTunes to to download the latest remixes automatically, but that would have to be a third-party thing. OCR won't do that because we want people to come to the site to get the music and participate a little (read Dave's writeup, leave a review, etc.).
  12. It's not really jazz so much as...jazzy. Or jazzish. Jazz-like?
  13. http://www.ocremix.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=12 Peruse the guides and search for answers before asking.
  14. This project is stupid and you are all stupid. I mean... Uh...
  15. Winamp Skin is called ClearONE. Trillian Pro running PerfStats on the right, Samurize for the links, memory meters, and IP address indicator on the left. Icons are Modena Zelda, from IconBuffet, and taskbar transparency is thanks to Glass2K.
  16. Guys, instead of worrying about how bad it's going be, let's start coming up with actual examples of how bad it'll be! I'll start us off: Wander will be given a supporting cast of the tired old fantasy-party archetypes; gruff dwarven fighter, lithe elven archer, noble knight/mentor human, and a mysterious wizard. Momo was a princess who was killed by the evil DARK LORD COLOSSUS. GO!
  17. It makes perfect sense. The anime was just fine on its own. That said, I'm very excited about seeing some of the new manga stuff in the new series. I just hope some of the old music (like Bratja) carries over to the new show. One of the best songs ever.
