  1. I LOVE that tune. Why oh why has no remixer ever shown it any love?
  2. Again I reiterate my request for more attention for the town theme from this game. I've always loved it.
  3. The Dhsu/Blak Omen Waltz of Pain is a better version of Sad Song than what's on here (though this is good too), but then the RRR track goes into Forest Maze, and it's one of the best treatments I've heard of the latter theme. SMB3 is great, as are Secret of Forest and Aquatic Ambience. Gnat Attack is incredible; great bebop sax stuff there. But the highlight for me is Gerudo Valley. Everyone who likes that theme should get it.
  4. I'd not heard of this until tonight. Looks great, like a mix of several of my favorite games (FFVI, CT, SoM, SD3, Lunar). Think I may want to check this one out.
  5. Ever heard the full-orchestra version of this track that's part of the full opera track from Orchestral Game Concert 4? It's pretty much awesome. FFVI is my favorite game of all time, and my favorite VGM soundtrack as well. And as much attention as it gets, there are still a few neglected gems here and there. Any love they get would be awesome.
  6. I'm waiting until a) the whole this is released and I've finished FFIV DS. I have way too big of a backlog as it is.
  7. Yes, I enjoy that quite a bit. But as you say, there's still room for other takes. And I like that theme so much that I want to hear many, many more than just one take on it.
  8. I've always had a bit of a soft spot for this game. It was the second RPG I ever played (after Super Mario RPG, unless you want to count Zelda games). I've especially always loved a lot of the music. The soundtrack definitely doesn't get enough attention. Both of the tracks you mentioned are great. Two that have been favorites of mine for a long time are the Focus Tower theme and the town theme. Definitely one of my favorite town themes in all of RPG-dom. I'd really like to see the town theme arranged in some sort of laid-back, peaceful track. Maybe piano solo or something. Or acoustic guitar, that'd be awesome too.
  9. OK. I know I'm going to be missing a few games. My collection is a bit split up. I have most of my games and systems here in Arkansas with me, but my entire NES collection is at my parents' house in Texas. So I had to try to remember every NES game I have, and I'm certain I've forgotten a few. There are also a few SNES games there, and while I think I accounted for all of them, I might have missed one. Additionally, I suspect that I've got more Game Boy, GBA and DS games than I was able to find (though I did lose 5-10 of them several years ago), because the damn things do tend to end up in odd places occasionally, and several might be at my parents' house. But here's what I can say for sure: Systems: NES SNES (I have two) Genesis Nintendo 64 PlayStation PlayStation 2 (I have two, but one of them mostly doesn't work) GameCube Wii Game Boy Brick GBA SP DS (doesn't work at all anymore) DS Lite PSP (I have two, one modded original model, one slim not modded) Games: NES: 20 SNES: 35 Genesis: 4 N64: 11 PSX: 33 PS2: 15 GCN: 14 Xbox: 5 Wii: 4 GB: 9 GBC: 2 GBA: 28 DS: 12 PSP: 4 VC/WiiWare: 3 Total: 199 at current count Edit: Wait! I just remembered one more. A friend of mine has an Xbox 360 that he occasionally lets me borrow. I bought Lost Odyssey for it so I could play that whenever I borrow the system. Sure, my friend has it right now so that he can play it, since I don't have the system, but I do technically own the game. So I own 200 games that I'm sure about right now. New total: 200
  10. Reread your first post and you might. You said you were the letter of the month for a month that won't happen until later this year.
  11. Quite an accomplishment, since it's only the end of May 2009 right now.
  12. God, I hate both of those levels. Especially the acid one. Castle Crusher isn't too bad if you pay attention to the enemies' patterns, but the acid level just plain sucks.
  13. Several months ago, I got 102% for the first time as well. And yeah, that Lost World is just plain cruel sometimes. It's a good thing extra lives are so easy to come by in that game. I might have gotten pretty pissed otherwise.
  14. Hahahahaha, there's some truth to this, unfortunately. I miss the blue scheme from when I first joined, myself.
  15. To quote Tensei-San, thanks for getting the joke.
  16. In the beginning, djp created OverClocked ReMix. And it was good.
  17. I think there's no question that production values and technology have improved, and that's only natural. But I don't think that overall arrangement quality has gotten necessarily better or worse on the whole. There are gems and duds in the old stuff and the newer stuff alike. Simple as that. [Edit]If there's any difference in arrangement quality, it's likely due to higher standards and fewer duds making it through the judges now than was once the case. But I don't think that the really good mixes these days are necessarily significantly better, except perhaps in production values and technology used, than the really good ones from back in the day.[/Edit]
  18. Huh??? He's one of the easiest FF final bosses. You must be massively underleveled, ore maybe you haven't discovered Ultima yet. Teach Ultima to a few characters, and just spam that spell ad nauseam throughout that battle. Piece of cake.
  19. This is pretty much pure awesome with a touch of win. Possibly my favorite arrangement of Still More Fighting (though I love Arm Cannon's version, and I still like the Black Mages version, but they're VERY different), and definitely my favorite treatment of the victory fanfare (special kudos on using the classic version rather than the FFVII version). This is my first exposure to The Runaway Five, though of course I've heard of them many times before. I just checked out their Web site after hearing this track, and now I really, really want more.
  20. Yep. It was gonna happen eventually anyway, but this recession made it happen a whole lot more quickly.
  21. Believe me, I'm hoping that all the time. Things aren't good in the industry, and some papers have done just that.
  22. Ah, I see. Just because he's trying to stay out of trouble, that means he hates cops. Got it. That makes a world of sense. Myself, I'll be working. Yep, even on Memorial Day itself. Newspapers don't stop publishing for holidays.
