  1. Mass Effect 2. When I first played the original Mass Effect, I couldn't get into it at all. Everything about it was clunky and awkward. The voice acting, the equipment menus, the controls, everything. When I picked up Mass Effect 2, I found that literally ALL of these issues had been fixed. The engine, the menus, the voice acting, the body language of the characters, EVERYTHING was so much tighter and more fluid and more natural, and so I could really get into the game. I loved it so much that I went back and gave ME1 another try, and finally finished it, and even though I still don't actually like ME1, I'm glad that ME2 convinced me to give it another go and see it all the way through, if only so I could have Wrex alive in ME2 and ME3. Also, I fucking loved ME3. Fuck the haters; a half hour of mediocre writing at the end does not in any way devalue the 20 hours of fantastic writing and gameplay that precedes it.
  2. Sexiest bass line I've ever heard right here.
  3. Might have to join y'all on this thing. I've been slacking WAAAAAY off since retiring from competition, and while I don't think I'll be competing again, I want to get back in that kind of shape.
  4. Usa! How the hell are you? I haven't heard from you in ages!
  5. Absolutely fantastic project. Will go through and leave more specific notes later.
  6. I'm so glad it got bumped, though; otherwise I wouldn't have seen it. This is fucking gold! Oh my cthulhu I don't think I've laughed that hard at a forum post since the ukeke3000 thread.
  7. Also, holy fucking shitballs your sig is awesome

  8. At some point in my life I hope to make a pilgrimage to the grave of Carl Sagan.
  9. Apparently the rumors that Sagan's family asked melodysheep not to use Sagan's material are false. His son, Nick, gave the series an enthusiastic endorsement
  10. If Sagan's family asked melodysheep not to use Sagan's material in his videos, they're idiots. Symphony of Science is the absolute embodiment of everything Sagan stood for: bringing a love of science to the masses. It is because of SoS that I became a fan of Sagan and of Cosmology in general.
  11. Throwing in my support as well. I've struggled with depression in the past, and even spent four days in a mental hospital on suicide watch at one point. And then it got better. It always gets better, as long as you ask for help. It's not weakness, it's not shameful, and it's not something you have to handle on your own. It's not something you SHOULD try to handle on your own.
  12. I remember once Nintendo Power challenged players to beat StageClear mode in Tetris Attack in under an hour. I did it in 28:51 Also, in playing The Perfect Run in Mario Galaxy 2, I have never once died on the final section. (though perhaps I should mention I've only made it there twice)
  13. The sailing and triforce shard hunting in Wind Waker. The remaining 5% of the game, though, was fucking awesome.
  14. http://youtu.be/QpJz25ac9TA?t=1m5s EDIT: Also: (for some reason, the version in Radical Dreamers always hits me harder thant he version in Chrono Cross, even though they're virtually identical)
  15. I am DEFINITELY doing this the instant I get my studio set up again.
  16. The Omen remastering captures the march towards Narshe in a way that few other arrangements I've heard really do.
  17. HOLY CRAP HOW DID I MISS THIS ONE?!? This is absolutely stunning! It is absolutely impossible to listen to this without a big goofy grin, and I keep finding myself swaying back and forth to the music without even realizing it. Top-notch.
  18. Hands down the most emotional, most engaging, most meaningful, and -- dare I say it -- all-around best game I've ever played. This game is a work of art on par with the sistine chapel, the works of shakespeare, or any other great work of art humankind has produced.
  19. It's not in any way dependant on the thanix cannons -- in fact I don't think I've ever heard suggested that the thanix cannons are responsible. Rather, it's due to all the time shepard has spent around reapers and reaper artifacts. Remember in ME2, it was established that even a dead reaper can indoctrinate.
  20. None of what makes the ME trilogy good would translate will into a movie.
  21. To add to my earlier post: In ME 3, there are several points in the Curing the Genophage mission which consistently bring me to the edge of tears. partly because Eve's theme is so amazing, and partly because of the grandiosity of the idea of giving the Krogan a new future, destroying the plague that has destroyed their society for thousands of years. Have I mentioned I love ME3?
