  1. No formal training, but I've been playing piano for about 10 years, irish whistle for about 8, and guitar for about 7. Can't read sheet music. EDIT: Holy shit, suzu, you play hammered dulcimer? And Mandolin? We may have to collab sometime.
  2. Aren't they great? THere are so many ways to make any excercize really hard without doing huge nubmers; I rarely do more than 20 of ANYTHING in a row on rings.
  3. Get a Carvin Cobalt. Probably the best bang-to-buck ratio of any acoustic guitar that I know of. I use a C350 and love it.
  4. Finally did some more hard core strength yesterday. Started with arms and shoulders and worked my way down. I didn't keep track of the exact numbers. Today I did a bit of core and leg strength, as well as a bunch of trampoline. Hopefully my wrist braces should be arriving in the mail in the next wee or so, and I should be able to get fully back into training.
  5. Oh, man, this is PERFECTLY timed, if I can organize transportation. I'm going to a gymnastics camp in State College, PA, starting June 29th. Is there anybody comming from down south that could give me a ride up? I may be able to catch a bus up into VA if somebody could drive me the rest of the way. EDIT: Actually, it appears a bus into Philly will only cost me about $50, so I should be able to swing that no problem. I'll need to know how to get from the bus stop to the meetup location, though.
  6. Finally got my wrist looked at. The good news: it's nothing too serious. Appears to be just some minor internal bruising. The bad news is that with continued training, I'm likely to continue reinjuring it. Either way, it's going to take months to fully heal. I might back off a bit for a little while and get a brace with a bit of padding to soften the impact, but I'm probably just going to say fuck it and deal with the pain and continue training.
  7. Here's your problem: you didn't sample anything of mine. Actually, this is pretty cool. I like it.
  8. SUBMIT, FUCKER! As far as I can see, this meets all the requirements to be eligible. It's recognizable as the sourcetune, but has enough arrangement that we can hear and appreciate your contributions, and the production excellent. And you could make a strong argument for this as the most creative concept I've ever heard (only thing I can think of that might be able to compete with it is Shnab's remix of the Zelda door-open jingle) Were I a judge, I would give this a yes.
  9. Most of the instrument sets are good enough. I use collosus when I don't have a specific library dedicated to the instruments I'm looking for, and it almost always has something that will suffice. Some of the patches are absolutely excellent, some are merely passable, but on the whole I'd say it's worth the investment.
  10. Fuckin approved! Read or Die is awesome. As for Cowboy Bebop and FLCL, I have never been able to figure out what the appeal of those is. I mean, they aren't bad; I just don't see anything special about them that justifies the massive amounts of praise they get (though I did like the Bebop movie). Same goes for Evangelion (though I admit I never watched it all the way through -- it didn't hold my interest) Wolf's Rain and Ghost in the Shell: SAC are both better, imo.

  12. Got an appointment for this thursday.
  13. Finally got a bit more of a workout today, though still not as much of one as I'd like. 5 muscle-ups, 5 sets of 10 seconds in band-assisted iron cross, 15 bulgarian dips, 30 seconds in straddle planche, 30 seconds in straddle front lever. My wrist was hurting too much to do more than that.
  14. Did a bit more work on shoulder flexibility today. Also did a couple of muscle-ups and crosses. Getting my wrist looked at this comming thursday, so hopefully I'll be able to get back into real hardcorse strength training after that. (I really should still be working core and leg strength, but it's just hard to keep myself motivated; I'm used to just comming in and going straight to rings)
  15. Running helps all three. Abs less so, but it does work them.
  16. Did a bit of flexibility today, but no strength aside from one press handstand on rings -- which hurt my wrist too much to do anything more.
  17. Finally got a bit of work done today. I was still a bit limited by my wrist, but I managed to get in 10 muscle-ups, 15 bulgarian dips, 15 pull-ups, and 2 sets of 15 seconds in a stretch-band assisted cross before my wrist started hurting too much to keep going. Then I did some hanging toe-touches (10, with #5 and #10 held for 5 seconds), some arch lifts (same deal as the toe-touches), 60 calf raises, and 30 lunge jumps. Spent about 45 minutes working flexibility. Splits and shoulder stretches, mainly.
  18. I LOVE the intro! And the transition gives me chills. Strings are beautifully done. Excellent choice of guitar tones throughout the piece. Solos are awesome. Ending is beautifully done. Were I a judge, I would give this a YES.
  19. I submitted a really shitty Mario RPG medley years and years ago, and I've never checked to see if it actually got posted.
  20. Been awhile since I've played OoT, but let's take a look. Bass, sounds a bit wierd, doesn't really mesh with the rest of the mix. Percussion is cool in the first half; has sort of a Yoko Kanno-ish feel to it. Sort of acceptably wierd and minimalist. HOSNAP, here we go! I'm really liking the groove once the mix picks up at 0:58. String hits, while not particularly realistics, sound great in context, and compliment the percussion really well. Still not wild about the bass, but it sounds better here than it did at the beginning. After that awesome transition, though, things just sorta get dull. Percussion gets less interesting, strings get old quickly, and nothing new is comming in to keep my attention -- I assume this part will be further developed for the final mix, though. The non-staccato strings don't sound very good. Definitely some cool ideas here so far. Keep working on it!
