finished La-Mulana - Giant's Rage/Cry

Haha no worries! If I ever complain about the judges, it's always in jest. -
A Happy 1st Birthday to djp's Little Girl! <3
Lemonectric replied to Rexy's topic in General Discussion
Happy birthday, Esther! Pretty spiffy pink backwards baseball cap you got there! She's lucky to have thoughtful, intelligent parents with a double set of attractiveness genes. I think she's gonna do just fine. -
finished La-Mulana - Giant's Rage/Cry

Added old version back to the thread. Mostly it's a changed-up melody line with a couple background additions. The concept of the track moving from a fairly straightforward cover to a looser interpretation (rhythm included) was intentional, buuuuut I guess it's not entirely in line with OCR's philosophy. I can try out some chord changes if necessary. -
finished La-Mulana - Giant's Rage/Cry

The judges rejected it because the first third was basically the source. Or because they don't recognize true art, I dunno. Anyway, here's an update (only up to 1:26 is different). Think I've covered their complaints? Sakit Chills Out, Judge Edition -
Ever since I was a kid, I've always liked singing/humming harmonies while listening to music. My mom used to say I was good at naturally picking up on that kind of stuff. So...I still have a preference for music with a lot of harmony and interesting chord progression. Melody is what people remember, but what good would it be without something there to support it?

By the way, anyone, if you're ever feeling particularly down about me obliterating you in Mario Kart 8, feel free to return the favor in Smash Bros, which I am terrible at. We might get to do a sudden death if you accidentally fall into a pit while taunting.
-
That's right. Which means we're playing now!
-
That's right. The information in the first post is still accurate except that the tournament is only active on Wednesdays now. It's currently set to include all cups, which means you can only join if you have the DLC. I can set it back to only original cups every once in a while if people want, but I do recommend getting the DLC.

Practice up! We need more Mario Kart players. Especially ones who actually show up ever at all.

If you want a character lineup sig like mine right away, let me know and I can slap your name on one. Otherwise I can make everything when the signups are over. Lots of great source tunes to pick from, and yet Shantae is the only one with a posted remix (by the composer, no less). Go where no remixer has gone before!

I, Hylian Lemon, do pledge my interest in a Kickstarter Smash Bros Competition.

Hey, not a bad idea. I'd forgotten Mew dropped stuff. It's not quite Brawl's mashfest, but it's better than nothing. Also, I love that every stage has a final destination form. I can enjoy the music and visual style of Great Cave Offensive without putting up with the zoomed-out-to-another-dimension camera.
-
So how's everyone's luck with getting CDs during battle? I haven't encountered a single one. I remember making a CD factory in Brawl, but even without that I'm pretty sure they showed up more frequently.
-
Hey now, apparently you can find new music like you could in Brawl. There's still hope for the DK rap.
-
Just realized Link is in the same weight class as Roy. Looks like I have an alternate character. Which I will use tonight. During the tournament. 9-10 CST, as usual.
-
Voice chat only works in friend-only lobbies (you press minus to turn it on). There aren't any options in the tournament settings. Pretty standard for Nintendo online. I usually do my between-race trash talking on facebook chat. We can shoot for another tournament next week...maybe go back to the usual Wednesday night?

Project M's New Theme by Phonetic Hero
Lemonectric replied to Phonetic Hero's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, yeah, go into early retirement or something, you jerk. I knew you were doing something for Project M, but I didn't know it was the main theme. Sweet. Good job on the Smash Bros feel. -
Hyrule Circuit is all of the really standard standard Zelda stuff compressed into one sentence. I'd love to see future tracks that can explore more interesting settings now that the ice has been broken. I should also remind everyone that if you want to change characters or karts during a tournament, please rejoin through the friends page instead of the tournaments page to make sure you don't create a separate room. Especially you, Dave.

I downloaded the recent Pikmin 3 demo and it was a success. I'd seen videos of Pikmin games before, but it's one of those things where only playing it yourself can really do it justice. So I bought it. No letdown so far. Everything I've done has been either fun or really stressful. It's a good balance. Lots of different kinds of motivation at work. Also I'm a fan of the writing. Bopopolis was brutal. Easily the most deaths in the game for me.

I was expecting it to go live around the time the eshop is usually updated (noonish), so I was pleasantly surprised. Got a chance to play before work. Characters: Link is amusing. Vehicles: If you like inside drifters, the Master Cycle seems really good. I don't like inside drifters. The wheels and the glider work pretty well for me, though. Tracks: Mmm, rupees. Also, we now have and in Mario Kart. [links fixed...thanks, Mirby]I've updated the tournament to include all cups. Remember, Friday at 9PM CST. Practice up! Or don't, I guess.

Friday's doable. Let's shoot for the usual 9-10 CST. Check here if you're not sure what that means for you. Also get hype

I've been hearing a mix of positive responses and "why isn't this on Wii U in HD with a completely reimagined art style and orchestrated music?" Some people were definitely hyping themselves up with things like pretty pre-rendered fan animations, and they're disappointed that it's just getting the same treatment as OOT3D. Whatever. The original Majora's Mask reused a lot of assets from Ocarina. Of course MM3D would work the same way.
