Paint by the number pop does not exist. I personally don't like her music much (a lot of her style seems to be based on visuals) but it is pretty original.

holy shit what a fucking awesome cast

OverClocked ReMix Design ?'s and Issues
PriZm replied to Liontamer's topic in Site Issues & Feedback
When I type something in the search box and then change the category, it erases what I just typed. It's not a big deal but I like to search for mixes and since the default is games, I end up typing the name of the mix, realizing I have to change the category to mixes, and the retype the name of the mix. Like I said, not a huge deal, but if you could have a buffer to save the content of the box, it probably wouldn't take more than an hour to fully implement and test. -
So I bought the stuff, but the more I play online, the more disappointed I am with myself and this game. The amount of work needed to play any character is staggering. Everytime I play online, I get stuffed by players who are vastly superior to me in every way. I mean, I thought EX Canceling a super move into another was an expert-level technique but now everyone seems to master it. Seriously, everybody's capable of reliably doing shoryuken, EX Cancel, Shoryuken in-game (not in training mode). And lol at the instruction manual that says: 'Ken just did a Shoryuken, but now that he sees that Ryu is blocking, he will EX Cancel and dash backwards'. Is it even remotely possible to hit-confirm something before you decide to input that shit ? I don't usually suck at fighting games, especially 3D ones. I main Setsuka in Soul Calibur, who is the arguably one of the hardest to play, but the thing is, you actually have time to think about your next move. What I find hard to follow in Street Fighter is that you must constantly be inputting buttons like crazy to do decent damage and it makes it a game of execution rather than strategy. Not to say there is no strategy between expert players, but to get there you have to practice so fucking much it's ridiculous. P.S. Please, please stop using the word 'scrub' if you don't know it means.

so I am terrible at Street Fighter but I just bought the thing and I could go for a few rounds maybe tonight or tomorrow. PSN = zeroprism

I love the fast tempo song with a strong beat and frequent modulations. It somehow reminds me of Persona. The game was indeed fantastic, and I'm a few hours from getting the Platinum but man, was grinding a pain. It's kinda stupid that you max your characters Crystarium waaaaaayyy before you get enough Gil to get everything in the game.

Yeah I don't know why they did this. It's almost as if they wanted you to use a guide.

Yeah the Scraping Spear is pretty gay. You really cannot do anything about it except hope that your opponent will be more... sportsmanlike . As for the bugs in 2-2, your best bet is to use magic. If you are using a melee character without good attack spells, you may want to consider crafting a "Moon" type weapon (Moon Winged Spear is my favorite) because it adds magic damage to the physical stuff. They will still be resilient as hell, but with a decent character you might be able to kill them in like 10 hits by using heavy hits. Regarding Flamelurker, I beat him with my melee character and the bad news is that he isn't even the toughest boss . Use Warding/Total Protection and Water Veil, as well as equip all the stuff you have that reduces Fire damage and you should be able to outlast him.

I started out as a thief and I was using massive armor and heavy swords until I discovered the beauty of purple flame shield + moon winged spear. I stayed away from magic for a good while for the simple reason that I had not discovered the people who teach magic in the nexus, so I cannot give good advice on this for the beginning of the game. It seemed to me that heavy armor was not worth it, except on a single specific stage... The ability to roll fast and dodge attacks is much more useful for a melee character in my opinion and you will be pretty much impervious to damage if you learn the spell given by trading the 1-2 boss soul. SPOILERS for stage 4-2 Also, the difficulty in this game is awesome and never cheap, except on a single occasion. If you free the knight in stage 4-2, he returns to the Nexus and begins killing NPCs. You cannot revive them, and it makes the rest of the game a hassle since you can't learn magic or store your items in the safe anymore. If you decide to free him, wait until you kill a boss and then go to the second story in the Nexus to find him and kill him as soon as possible.

So, Andrew, would you like to discuss this game in a spoiler-free manner or are spoilers OK ?

Rose of May = Loss of Me ? And it's already claimed ? oh well...

Well I used to have a Wii, but I sold it due to lack of interest in the titles. As much as it's cool for you to like the Wii, it's also cool if someone happens to not like it. I mean, if you're gonna expect everybody to respect you for liking the console, shouldn't you respect also those who don't ? I do not consider myself an elitist prick or jealous or whatever, I just plain didn't like it. That being said, it's obvious that someone who spends their time telling everybody how liking the Wii is gayer than gay etc etc. does not deserve your respect.
-
Yes it will be pretty blurry, especially since you are probably now more used to seeing stuff in HD. Technically, it shouldn't be as blurry as your PS2 though.

No Andromeda love ? Even from Bahamut and Luke ?

Well like Bardic said, I did not equate playing to win to being a dick. There is certainly a way to be playing to win and be sportmanlike at the same time. I was simply pointing out that in many fighting communities I have visited (8wayrun, shoryuken and tekkenzaibatsu), people use Sirlin's article to justify being dicks and calling everyone scrubs. I honestly can't believe how you wouldn't notice that.
-
I don't think the point is whether Sirlin is right or wrong, it's about how people use his literature to justify being douches. As much as what he says is true, you can't deny that it is golden ammunitions for assfucks; those are the people I say are unsportsmanlike. And, to return a bit earlier in the thread, I think we see more of these people on the internet than in sports because of internet anonymity and lack of media coverage. My conclusion is that although there is obviously sportsmanship in games, they seem to be plagued by more fuckaroos than actual sports.
-
Just to clarify, I wasn't criticizing Sirlin when I said his article had done a terrible thing to fighting communities. The guy is obviously smart and coherent in his ideas. But if you are part of any fighting community, you will notice that everyone is calling everybody a scrub and mediocre players are advocating "playing to win" etc etc. Belial of Soul Calibur wrote a very interesting paragraph that can summarize what I call sportsmanship in games. Of course, this is pretty similar, albeit a little less abstract, than Sirlin's "love of the game" article.
-
Well I can certainly agree to that. Anyways it would be very hard for me to continue this discussion without game-specific examples, which would detract from the topic, so carry on.

There is such a thing as playing "dirty" which is accepted even amongst competitive players though. That's why some characters in some games are banned in tournaments. Take this concept and transpose it to casuals. In most non-competitive players minds, some moves should be banned because defending against them surpasses their skill level. The same way that some characters are banned because their moves/combos are too hard for competitive players to defend against. It's all a matter of defining how you wanna play the game. Non-competitive players think the game should be played one way and competitive players think it should be played another way. The thing is, no one is right. So in my mind it is unfair to call non-competitive players "scrubs", which is definitely pejorative.
-
People who call others "scrubs" should be drop-kicked in the neck. I play a lot of Soul Calibur 4, and I think it is terrible what Sirlin's article has done to the gaming world. In fighting forums, you see the word "scrub" almost as often as you see "fail" and "epic fail". It's very irritating. Sure, there might be a counter to every move, but this article fails to mention the skill level required to pull them off. What I consider cheap and unsportsmanlike is when you can pull a very easy move for which the counter is very hard to pull off, and you spam it like a motherfucker.

Well before the incoming shitstorm about whether x band is metal or not, let me humbly recommend: Symphony X Andromeda Dream Theater

I love how the Persona games are dungeon crawlers/dating sims/educational games.

So I was wondering if I should give this game a try, but by the looks of this thread, it looks pretty terrible.

Leona Lewis in FF XIII OST? What do you think?
PriZm replied to Malaki-LEGEND.sys's topic in General Discussion
Seriously; and it's not like the song is bad either. I mean you can dislike it and thrash it for being mainstream and all, but it's well-produced and the singing is OK. I guess we'll have to see if it fits well in the game... I'm sure if the original Japanese song was in English and sung by Celine Dion, many people here would be complaining about it. -

I don't really understand the big fuss... I don't know shit about Leona Lewis but I thought the song was OK.
