Biggest thanks you. You helped everyone. You kept this thing going.

    May I ask,

Who was your favorite artist?? Spicy question

Very difficult question. I will not answer with Bundeslang.

So many different styles and genres. Favorite is also a very hard term, I fill this in as personal like the most (and genre helps with this). Still (to mention one name) I go for one of the names in the beginning of the contest: Sir Nuts.

Perhaps we can do a contest/round one day (maybe a yearly free round or something like that), who knows...

  3. For the last time, it's results time

Hopefully everything is counted correct (just added the voter bonus, assuming that nobody voted twice for the same song or for his own song, the winner is clear.

The final last wooden spoons go to Evktalo, Silverpool64, BRKPNT, Jorito and (again) BRKPNT without any points.

The 18th place is for both Sadorf and Treyt with two points.

8 Songs tie for 10th place: AlchemicJay, TheVodouQueen, Jorito, Wassup Thunder, Unknown Pseudoartist, (again) AlchemicJay, JH Sounds and AZPX with 3 points

The 6th place is for Hemophiliac, Yami, Bundeslang and HoboKa with 4 points.

The fourth place is for Souperion and HarlemHeat360 with 6 points.

Third place is for TheVideoGamer with 7 points.

XPZA got second place with 10 points.

And the winner of PRC472 is Coloradoweeks with 23 points.

Congratulations Coloradoweeks, even if I miscalculed half of the votes you are still in the winner of the final PRC round. Well deserved, and close to an unanimous win. You still may pick a source but it will not be used for a further PRC. You can send it to me by PM or just post it in this thread. Some followers might reward your win with a remix, or I might organise a special round somewhere in the future.

Even tough Coloradoweeks is the winner of this round, I think we all have won this one. A fantastic amount of remixes resulting in the end of PRC. Big thanks to all remixers, voters and listeners, the OC Remix and ThaSauce Community

http://sites.google.com/site/bambombim/prc for all rounds and winners.

https://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/prc472 for the votes and comments.

If anyone is interested in any old PRC songs, I have them somewhere so I can share them if there is any interest. Everything from PRC94 and later is at the ThaSauce site.

This is the end of PRC, but not from my visits to OC Remix. I Will Return (but not as PRC host).

    Thank You

  4. Welcome to the voting stage

The mixing stage is over. This round has 24 songs.

    To vote, do the following:

Visit https://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC472 and listen to all the entries

Scroll to the form at the bottom of the screen or click PM.

Fill in the entries from first to third in the ThaSauce form or fill in your top 3.

    State a reasoning for it.

Participants are encouraged to vote and leave feedback. They get a 3 point bonus, but they are not allowed to vote for their own track.

Always look in this thread to find out who's the winner of the round after the voting stage instead of only looking at ThaSauce for the results.

You have until Wednesday January 17th 2024 10:59 AM ThaSauce time (11:00 UTC, 12:00 GMT) to vote. One week extra to vote, this will be the final deadline.

If you vote by PM make sure that your top 3 is clear. I prefer something like this:

    (To)

    (Subject)

    PRC 472 Vote

    (Message):

    1: (remixer A )

    2: (remixer B )

    3: (remixer C )

    (reasoning)

Wow, this is crazy. I logged on to this site for the first time in years. I used to participate in this contest and ORC almost weekly in 2004-2008 under my original profile which has since been lost. It’s sad to see this is ending from lack of interest.

I see you can submit originals and multiple entries. Do you mind if I submit one of my first PRC entries and the newest song I’ve made? Kind of like a time capsule. PRC and ORC are where I got my start in music composition. Best of luck to everyone.

It's allowed, if you have any problems with uploading multiple songs let me now (post a download link in this topic so I can get it at ThSauce).

  6. Thanks everyone for their input in this topic. It's very much appreciated, also good to see some of the participants in early PRC rounds still being around here and checking it out.

I'm pretty sure I made the right decision to make this a final last round of the competition. And of course I will enter myself as well, but (as always) don't expect a remix which will pass the OC Remix judges without a NO vote. Good to see that the first song is already there.

  7. Updated the first post.

The main reason to quit is that I don't want this contest to end up with many rounds without entries. As written in the first post, PRC469 was the first real round when that happened. With my quick songs for both PRC469 and PRC471 these rounds still didn't end without a song. And of course I don't let this one end without a song as well.

Nowadays people don't find their way to the forums and I don't feel anything to actively promote this on Social Media or somewhere else. PRC should stay PRC, after 20 years it is also a good moment to end it. After this I will still keep an eye on these forums.

Let's make this round a good last one.

  8. The People's Remix Competition Final Round (PRC472)
    PRCv20-13

Hello everyone and Welcome to the People's Remix Competition!

    This round is located at:

    https://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC472

Source: Free Round (Every source is allowed, including making originals)

This will be the last round of PRC. Since it's getting harder to get any songs in and I also lack time myself to be very active in it I decided to put it to an end. I don't feel anything for changing the setup of the contest or promoting it more. I'm happy that I kept it running this long. Many rounds got a good amount of songs and a voting stage but the last years it was hard to get any contributions. Still, PRC469 was the first round without an entry. I don't want this going with much rounds without entries, after 20 years it is good to end this contest. It's been a long time since I took over PRC from Rexy (after PRC130 back in October 2008, 15 years ago). The contest itself started back in late 2003. I want to thank everyone for this long, long time.

If someone really not wants to end PRC and wants to take over the organisation of PRC he/she is free to start season 21 next year. Send me a PM if you want this to happen.

Of course, PRC will not before there's a Final Round.

It's a Free Round. Feel free to remix whatever you like, also making an original mix is allowed. You can also submit multiple songs.

The remixing stage is the longest ever in the PRC history, over two months of time to make a good remix.

The deadline is Tuesday December 26th 2023 at 10:59 am ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT), check the link https://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC472 for the exact time left. Make sure that the song is uploaded to ThaSauce or that there’s a download link posted in this thread. This is the longest remixing stage ever in PRC.

You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. You are free to create a second ThaSauce account for that if you use ThaSauce, it's needed to be able to upload a second remix if you use ThaSauce. Of course you can also upload it somewhere else and put a download link in this thread.

Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted in this thread.

Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score.

The winner of this round will be the last winner of a PRC round. No next round will happen so there's no need to pick a source for next round.

You can find the full rules list at this page as well.

    GOOD LUCK!

  9. The People's Remix Competition 471
    PRCv20-12

Hello everyone and Welcome to the People's Remix Competition!

PRC469 is still waiting for a song, that's why the winner of PRC470 picked a source for this one. 2 Songs appeared, APZX won by default since TheVideoGamer's submission was a bonus.

I thought that the winner of PRC 469 picked the source for PRC 471 and the winner of PRC 470 picked PRC 472? Anyway...

The game got a lot of hate on release, but I will admit that the OST had some really fun pieces in it and while I would like to do the main battle theme, it was used in PRC 225 and also has a remix. I did a bit more digging and I got one that is both a bit on the fun side, does not have a remix, and has not been used in PRC as far as I can tell. I would like to select Final Fantasy XIII's March of the Dreadnoughts. It is a fun level theme which I think can be adapted in a few different ways.

You can find the full rules list at this page as well.

PRC469 is also happening and looking for remixes, so if you don't like FFXIII you can select Terranigma. Deadline in a few weeks.

  10. It's results time

Two submissions. TheVideoGamer's song (which is now at ThaSauce) is a bonus. So we have a winner: APZX.

APZX, you are the winner. You may pick a source for PRC471. Send the new source to me (with a MID/MP3 file, otherwise send a second source with a MID file) by PM, other options are PM me @ ThaSauce or by e-mailing to bambombim@gmail.com (I prefer a PM @Ocremix). Send your source as quick as you can, but before next Monday 18 September 2023, 11:00 AM ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT).

You may select any source from any game. From now on, it can also be a source with one or more OverClocked remix(es) or a source which has been used in PRC before. Only sources which are used in PRC season 19 (PRC439 or more recent) are not allowed. An overview of the past PRC's can be found in the following links:

    http://sites.google.com/site/bambombim/prc

A list is also available at https://compo.thasauce.net/compos/view/PRC

http://bambombim.googlepages.com/PRCRemixList.doc (also downloadable via the link above).

https://compo.thasauce.net/votes/index/PRC468 for the votes and comments (voting stage is open till the 10th so feel free to leave comments).

When I got the source and find some time, I'll start the round.

Remember, PRC469 is still without songs and still open for submission. So while waiting for the source for next round it's encouraged to make a song for that round.

  11. The People's Remix Competition 470
    PRCv20-11

Hello everyone and Welcome to the People's Remix Competition!

PRC469 was another win for TheVideoGamer, who decided to select a source which was already remixed before.

On 8/5/2023 at 5:08 PM, TheVideoGamer said:

So apparently you are allowed to reuse old sources for PRC, provided it wasn't used last year or this year. Well the source i think i might resend is the Batman one that was used for PRC394 of the 2019 season. Largely because there's only 1 remix and a bonus. (That bonus belonging to me. In my opinion i think i can do a better job of remixing that source for another bonus), nor is there any major remixes out on YouTube (None on OCR. Aside from the odd 8-bit remix, i don't think there is any remixes on YouTube either.), so i still think we should get this one a second chance, to encourage more remixes for it, especially since there isn't really any. If this is not allowed, let me know, i was just going by the new updated rules listed on the Gaires round page.

The Game is called The Adventures of Batman and Robin and the track name is Psycho Section. This plays during the second half of the Mad Hatter stage, right after a mini boss fight with a animatronic cat. A lot of what i talked about in my original message, isn't the best description of why the soundtrack rocks, because i kept making comparisons to repetition, which well...it's not. Looped based music, doesn't always equate to being repetitive. So i feel i need to do a new description.

The game was released in 1995, and is obviously based of the DC character and was composed by Jesper Kyd, during when he was working as a in-house composer for Zyrinx, a Danish Video Game company (This game however, was developed by Clockwork Tortoise). Unfortunately the company went bust in 1998 after their publishers had signed into liquidation, leaving Jesper Kyd to move to America. This is the Jesper Kyd people are familiar with, when he got contracted for 2 series - Hitman and Assassins CreedThis game (The Batman one) wasn't necessarily supposed to be a massive hit game based of the hit series. Or at least i don't think that it was. Instead it seems to be a focus to showcase the technical capabilities of the Sega Genesis. A lot of games were focused on making it well...fun or good. In this case the game was about showing what the system can do. Maybe you guys might not agree, but i think this is the case. The reason i say this is because the game is quite difficult. To some it's considered the hardest game on the Genesis. and the cartoony nature of the original series is not showcased in this at all (At least it's not as vibrant as the SNES one). However what they might not bring in terms of gameplay and overall graphics they make up for it in 2 departments. 3d visuals, and of course, the music.

The 3d visuals are quite spectacular and impressive for the time. Of course it's not real 3D, but they have used their magic to do a really close approximation to 3D, so some of the levels are really awesome in the sort of motion capture.

And the music, well that's what were here for right? I know i waffle a lot, so i'll try and keep this brief. It's arguably the best Genesis soundtrack of all time, right up there with the likes of SOR, Sonic, Thunder Force etc. It's like a full on EBM, Industrial Techno feast for your ears. In this case, lots of thicc FM kicks, varying syncopated rhythms in both percussion and basslines. A very rock inspired lead melody, that is both simple and well executed, and a lot of different switches to keep us on our toes (The panning in this one is pretty insane. Jesper was known for his extreme love for the panning in these pieces) The 2nd half is a full climatic section featuring a synth riff that is nonstop, charging at full force. This is where it gets very looped based, but it's very satisfying. Especially when it goes through a build-up back to the catchy hook. The ending is a loud crash made up of different FM layers. It's deliberate, and not a problem with the OST. Your taste of music, may affect how you like this piece, but you must at least agree it's a pretty cool one nonetheless (I personally think it's awesome)

Hope people do this one justice, so we have enough remixes. Hopefully it might have a better turnout than the last round. Looking forward to seeing what you've done.
