  1. Jees, I was just waiting for people to come back with a WIP or something, Calm down.

The Damned, could you please put A-Ron and me down for a WarioWare track?

Are either of you posted remixers? If so, then fine. If not, you'll have to provide a sample or portfolio.

Is there an index of remixers? We have an index for games, systems, forum members and staff, but not one jsut for remixers.

  2. I ain't got no problem with that. If you feel that a peer critique will help get a better remix sooner, than so be it.

If support is still necessary, I would like to offer help. I have absolutely no experience in remix making, but I do have an ear for music so that could be useful. Dunno bout that one though. I'll be honest, I just want to see how remix albums like this are built firsthand, as I feel the experience could be worth something. What, I don't actually know, but whatever.

    *EDIT*

I mean, I may not be well known, but to be well known I gotta start somewhere. This seems like as good a place to start, at least for me.

     ACCEPTED.

It would be a good learning experience and you can take the blame when I forget to show up for three days ina row. :<

Mostly, it will just be taking over if I can't respond right away, and helping out with reviewing the quality of the remixes. I also like having someone that will be willing to disagree with any stupid decisions I make.

  3. So, one of the other things I like is LEGO. I've got a fair amount of parts, and I have my own page of stuff I've made. But one thing I've never done with mix LEGO with video games. But, as you can see below, lots of other people have.

And just to be clear, I'm not talking about the LEGO video games, like LEGO Batman. I mean fans that have used LEGO to recreate their favorite video game stuff.

  4. November 13th, 2015 Update:

THE WAVS ARE IN!! All six tracks have been mastered by timaeus and they've been given to Liontamer.

Thank to all the remixers and their pals that worked on the remixes with them. And thanks again to Odai for his work on the cover art.

The only thing we need now is the website. I was thinking we don't really need a video, as that's really more for building up hype. We don't have that much time for that, so forget it. Besides, OCR itself is all the advertising we need for this album.

The release date is still aimed for December 5th, so on Dec 6th, it is out for Iwata's birthday. Celebrate his life, not his death.

    October 11th Update:

Thanks to Odai for the awesome title, which is now "Heart of A Gamer: A Tribute to Satoru Iwata" and for the album cover.

ANYWAY! As you can see below, we have four remixes complete and submitted in WAV Format. Yay us!

    September 8th update:

Talking it over with Liontamer, I have decided to push the album to mid October. Why? Because I like the idea of releasing for early December. That gives us over a month to get everything together, which means more time for you remixers to polish your remixes, and time for us to kidnap an artist or two.

More time means more effort and that gets us better music.

Take your time, make those remixes awesome, and don't worry. We got more time now, and we can easily meet this.

Also, I'm adding Dragon Warrior 1 to the list. If anyone wants it, feel free to claim it. As usual, posted remixers can be accepted without any try-outs, non-posted remixers will have to submit some samples to prove themselves.

    Project:

Saturo Iwata from NIntendo has passed away, and because of his involvment with NIntendo and a multitude of games and series over the years, we're going to do a tribute album.

This album has to be out somewhat quickly, though. If it's released too soon, the overall quality will suffer. Too long, and the tribute will lose some of its emotional punch. To that end, we're looking at a smaller album of about ten remixes or less. As much as I'd like to do a four-disc compliation album, we don't have the time or resources to pull that off.

As he was listed in hundreds of games (http://nintendo.wiki...ki/Satoru_Iwata  and http://www.mobygames...eloperId,52462/), there is a lot to choose from. However, I think we should look at the games he was directly involved with. As some of you may know, he started out as a programmer, not management. He didn't just make games, he made games.

To show that, we should remix from games that he himself worked on. He has dozens upon dozens of credits as a producer, but there are some games that he had more involvement in. He was in the trenches, sitting with the staff and designing or consulting. Fixing this, solving that. That's the guy that we should be remembering.

    What We Need:

A website. Right now, we could use the expertise of someone that can get a website together before December 1st. I know it's a tight deadline, but we don't need anything super fancy or complex.

    Staff:

    Director:
    Me, of course

    Assisstant Director:
    Themysteriousassassin

Artist: Odai. And apparently, Title Creator Extraordinaire.

    Tracklist:

    1. The Fading Children (Earthbound) by Kwix

    2. Cuban Vacation (Kirby's Adventure) by Chernabogue, featuring Tuberz McGee and kroasta

    3. Menu Theme (Super Smash Bros Melee) by Sbeast

    4. Sky-High Rollers (Rollerball) by timaeus222

    5. On The Wind (Balloon Fight) by Brandon Strader

    6. New Horizons (Pokémon Gold and Silver) by PokerusVGM

This list covers his earlier years, from pre-Nintendo to HAL Labs to just as he was becoming a big name at Nintendo.

  5. Would you be willing to direct one? A 5-7 track EP could be something the community could pull together quickly, as long as someone was pushing it forward. AnSo asked about a potential album on Twitter, so I know he's interested in creating something.

I've got free tiem this summer, and I wanted to head the Gameboy album, but had to hand it off... so OK.

  6. Member of Hal Labs, the creators of Kirby. . Programmed Earthbound. Helped found Creatures Inc., who created a lot of the Pokémon designs, as well as worked on Pokémon Gold and Silver, resulting in Kanto being included in the game (which in turn is often cirted as one of the reason people loved the game so much). Not only gave the go-ahead for the incredibly successful Wii and DS, but also helped out of the designs and even worked on some of the games for said systems.

Yeah, I guess he had a bit of a role in things.

Can we get a tribute album? It would be a primarily Earthbound and Kirby songs, but it's still stuff he worked on.

  7. I noticed that sometimes, animated gifs used as persoanl avatars don't properly animate. They stick to the first frame on some pages, but will work fine on others. It may just be my end being dumb, but jut a heads up.

Also, I can use my old (as in ancient) animated avatar from, like... 1999. IT'S THAT OLD.

  8. Surprisingly not as bad as the title would make me think:

    Maria The Virgin Witch.

I came across the show while looking for another. The title immediately activated every "terrible show, don't watch" alarm, but knowing not to judge a show by its name, I looked it up.

The premise came off very fan-servicey and pandering. But I still gave it a shot.

Any one watch "Maoyu"? Lots of analysis on the economics of war, peace and politics. It's about how the two main characters use their respective positions to guide both sides towards a sustainable peace using large-scale agriculture and education.

Maria covers more of the micro-level aspects of war. Maria actively sabotages both armies fighting near her home so they can't fight. If they do, she summons monsters to stop the battle, forcing both sides to run away. But her actions end up having some serious consequences.

    1. We find out that the mercenaries hired by both sides to fight, have turned upon the very peasants they are fighting to protect. NO war means no pay, which means they have no food.

    2. Heaven decided to stop getting involved period, and now wants Maria to stop fucking around because it's interfering with their observational role.

    3. The villagers she protects are getting torn between the war, the church's pressure, and their genuine appreciation for her help.

    4. The church is oblivious to Heaven's true goals, and thinks they can use Maria as a hero figurehead to defeat the English.

All this, because Maria just wants to keep her friends safe.

Oddly good, despite the lame, pandering premise. If you can ignore the few mentions of it every episode, it might end up one of the more fun shows of the year.

  9. I noticed two things about that list.

First, that Pokémon ORAS is on there... and while I love the series, I don't know if it belongs on any of those lists. It's all remade music for a remade game. It's a fun soundtrack with some strong nostalgia pull... but it's not that much better than the original GBA music. More like, version 1.5 than anything new.

Second, holy crap, is Transistor on a lot of nominations.
