  1. It's Sega made games/characters going up against Nintendo made games/characters. Have them thumb wrestle, fight, bowl, have a hot dog eating contest, put on a talent show, measure bra cup sizes... whatever floats your boat. As long as one side is trying to best the other in some form or fashion.
  2. Don't forget Eternal Doom. Big, BIG levels, and it's made by Team TNT (the folks behind Final Doom... or at least some of the folks behind it).
  3. I just caught your message in the thread about my sig. I edited my post to respond to it, but I'll put the message here as well since post edits don't always get caught...

You used that lioness gif someplace else? I don't recall ever getting a message from you saying that, which is why I thought it went unused. I'll get rid of that last line on my site then, once I update it again.

  4. "Badass chicks"? Sorry I missed that one. I could have drawn up Fran. Though I think that would have been more like "nice assed chicks". Anyway... Here's what I don't understand, friendlyHunter... how was this franchise so limiting? With a broad topic like "badass chicks" (no pun... well, maybe intended), it allows everyone to go to where they feel most comfortable artistically by just going right to their favorite characters. Same thing with Marvel vs Capcom. I wanted to get people to step outside that comfort zone a bit by narrowing the scope, and see what people would come up with when what was offered was a continuous single world where all the events in the franchise took place (as opposed to something that could have things pulled out from all over different worlds). With the PD franchise, I figured it would allow the character artists, landscape artists, creature artists and so forth to all come in and find something to their liking. With five games, it seemed like a good combination of scope and focus, with a lot of play room for those who weren't interested in beasts and monsters. Seems I was wrong. Keep in mind, my intentions aren't to put anyone down here. I know people have different tastes and interests, and I'm not belittling anyone for theirs. It's just... well, after years of seeing people say "I'm not listening to this remix because I don't know/haven't played the game" over and over here and on VGMix, and wondering why some found unfamiliarity to be such a hard thing to get through, it was disheartening to see that same basic mentality creep into the visual arts (something near and dear to me) here as well. So, my apologies for beating this into the ground. I don't want to turn this into a bitchfest or drive anyone away, so I'll shut up now. Thanks for the compliments on my piece, and thanks to the folks who took part, as well as those who tried to. I'll pick something either later tonight, or some time tomorrow, and I'll try to make it more appealing to everyone. friendlyHunter- The dragon and girl are from Panzer Dragoon Orta (they're the main characters), and the big dirigible-like ships are warships from the first game (I liked their design more). The storm background was inspired by the first stage in "Orta" where you can see lightning in the distance. piendry- Not bad. Shame you couldn't have gotten it done for the contest. It's a great start.
  5. Before I put any thought into what game/series to go with next, I have to ask... What happened? With all the settings (lands and locales), creatures, characters, story aspects, ancient technologies, monsters, vehicles, and so forth, where the hell did everyone go? I can't believe that with all the things this franchise offered for potential inspirational directions, that hardly anyone got inspired by what they saw or read. I'm honestly disappointed, and a bit disheartened. A franchise with the visual flare and story telling of the PD series didn't inspire you guys on any level? I don't mean to sound like an ass. I really don't. I'm just completely dumbfounded at how few people took part.
  6. Yeah, I didn't think it would be after the lawsuit and everything back in the day. Shame really, considering it absolutely trounces the Nintendo-made version in pretty much every way.

  8. Neither of these are 80s, but they fit the bill in many ways because they have an early 80s feel and sound to them... Don't Bring Me Down - Electric Light Orchestra
  9. Simply Irresistible - Robert Palmer Addicted To Love - Robert Palmer Not really rock, but very synth heavy, and it popped up as a related search for something else... Locomotion - Kylie Minogue No synths really, but how can you not like this one... We're Not Gonna Take It - Twisted Sister
  10. My submission's been sent. If anyone's still working, there's only one hour and four minutes to go.
  11. Are you sure we played the same game? Anyway, it's your choice. I won't bash you over the head for it or anything. But I can say that you're going to be missing out on a hell of a lot of good gaming if you can't get past the graphics. From the Master System/NES on up, there are many, many great games to be enjoyed. But if pixels and jaggies bother you to point of staying away from a game because of them, it really is your loss... whether you believe it to be or not.
  12. You look at games like Final Fantasy XII, Okami, Otagi 2 and Ninja Gaiden Black, and think they're ugly? ... YOU MAKE-A ME SMACK YOU! But in all seriousness, I don't have a problem with the newer games. Never have. But when I sit down to play, I don't find myself jumping to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, as much as I do Beyond Oasis, Metal Slug, or Ultimate Doom. I've yet to get to play (aka buy) games like Gears of War, Fallout 3 or even Bioshock for my PC, though I will at some point (I hope). But I think part of what pulls me back to the older titles is simply this... some genres have been all but forgotten. We've puzzle games, fighting games, and FPSs coming out of our collective asses, but where are the platformers? The Run 'N Guns? The good ol' side scrolling beat'em ups? And for the love of God, where the hell are all the shmups? Sure, the latter is doing reasonably well(ish) in Japan, but look how few have come to The States. And really, even fewer are actually able to be purchased as a product you can hold in your hand. I'll be honest here. This whole downloadable games and downloadable content stuff just doesn't sit well with me. If I spend money on a game, I expect to be able to hold that product in my hand. The idea of loosing it because my hard drive committed suicide isn't very unappealing, and neither is the idea of redownloading it when it's something measured in GB. Couple that with how everything seems to have some kind of downloadable content, and it just makes the games feel like you're getting less for your money (until you fork out more of course for that DLC... which usually pops up a week later, if not sooner). I'd love to finally get to play Halo 3, Raiden Fighters Aces and RPGs like Blue Dragon when I have the money to get a 360. But I'm not very enamored with the direction gaming's headed with all this DLC and such. The games themselves don't turn me off, but the way they're being distributed and taken apart so more can be "offered" later, does.
  13. Yep. I think you're right. But, I don't see why anyone would have the hots for Midna, even though she's awesome and is my favorite Nintendo character to come out in like ten years. Anyway, I think that the characters from this trailer look very furry-like, and I'm positive that the freaks will create all kinds of hentai and fan fiction for it. I am certain. Also, screw Quicktime. And iTunes. I think some of it likely depends on which form you're talking about regarding Midna. One is rather different from the other from the images I saw looking her up just now. As for the "furries", why do a few of you guys seem so panicky over it? How could anything someone draws or writes ruin this for you... seriously? I don't ask that to be a smartass, I'm just wondering. Of course, I'm still trying to figure out why anthro art is so hated, considering I've seen (non sploogy) stuff over the years that was really quite well done. The fur suits I get, as that's just downright odd. But general concept behind the artwork? That puzzles me... as does why both the fur suit wearers, and the anthro art makers, are called "furries"... and how drawing an anthro character equates to wanting to fuck animals. Anyway, I don't wanna derail this. Regarding the trailer, it looks like it could be interesting. It's piqued by curiosity with what was shown, but trailers are meant to do that. I'll wait until I see more substantial info about the movie.
  14. Not everyone's cool with their pics and name being posted, or their personal lives being plastered on message boards. That's why Kenobio brought it up. Of course, Salluz checked with DD about before hand, so... Anyway, I know of Disco Dan, but I don't know him. I think we've talk maybe... once?... twice? (three times a message board)... since I joined. But, that won't prevent me from saying, "Congrats DD, and hope you two have a wonderful life together."
  15. Well, she says it's because I don't caress her nipples enough when we're in bed together, but I think it's because I sneak up behind her while she's cooking breakfast, grab her breasts and shout "HONK! HONK!" too much. There must be a harmonious middle ground somewhere, and until I find it, she won't give me any lovin'. So, that's why I can't get it in. ... Wait. What was this about again?
  16. Master of Monsters? Dark Wizard? Warsong? An entry in the SNES Fire Emblem series (there are three of them)? Der Langrisser?
  17. Lady Stalker? Sword of Vermillion?
