  1. A lot of my older PC games [some great ones too] don't work on my new computer. Age of Empires II, Mechwarrior 3, Descent II, etc. You could try turning Hyperthreading off. I remember that fixed the sound issues I had with Curse of Monkey Island [fucking awesome game FYI], and then I turned HT back on after I was done with the game. Actually, I should try that with MW3 and AoE2 and see if that helps anything. Those two games just have illegal operations on startup, which is a bummer. It's probably DirectX's fault.
  2. PC gaming is the best, man. I only have 2 consoles and I never play those I made a thread a few days ago and it got no replies, but I'm looking for a new mech game. The Starsiege 2845 Alpha Tech Release is out, and it's very nostalgic for me but it's just a tech demo so :[ Anything with a lot of depth and customization, like the Earthsiege or Mechwarrior games? I already have MW4: Mercenaries and there's not really a lot to it. I also heard about a Japanese mech game for the PC, or at least manga-styled. What was the name of that? I heard it was decent but didn't sell very well, or something like that.
  3. Yeah. After looking into this issue further, it wasn't actually a violation of their TOS, which says nothing about "immoral content," just copyright infringement stuff. Their lawyer was just a little kooky.
  4. I just found an interesting thread about vBulletin: http://4-ch.net/net/kareha.pl/1166832744/l50 Apparently, the vBulletin vendor checks your forum from time to time and pulls the license from you if you have "depraved content" which seems like an arbitrary thing. In Hongfire's case it was lolicon. You already moderate that stuff out but it could be any number of things, including copyright infringing materials, or other "murky stuff." This is the forum software you're switching to? Are you serious? I'm assuming this is why you're getting rid of UnMod. lulz Though it's been so long since you announced you'd do it that I wonder if you'll still do it at all D:
  5. So yeah, you could support OCR if you wanted. Hooray for everybody! A good preamp has XLR inputs, so you'll need XLR cables. Some 1/4" audio cables would be nice, so you could record other things! A 1/4"->1/8" adapter might come in handy too.
  6. This is terrible. In terms of what the NES could actually do, you're only using like, 1/5th of it. I could foresee some of the melodies you're playing working if you actually had like... another squarewave, the triangle wave, the noise and PCM channels... But you don't. You're a fan of YMCK, so you know what a chiptune is supposed to sound like. Right now it's just a boring demo of someone playing random notes on the square channel. I recommend you listen to some Radix or Vim and try again.
  7. It could be any number of things Likely faulty ram, or your video card overloading. I've never had bad RAM, but my S3 Savage2000 would overload and reboot the computer, even it it wasn't really anything graphics-related. I tried using BitTorrent 3.2something on my 233 MHz Pentium II, and that would kill my computer after a few MB. When it started back up, Windows attributed the problem to my S3 card and its shitty drivers
  8. Anyone heard of it? lol I used to rent that game a lot back in the day Good music
  9. Start here: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa286577.aspx You might find an install file for East Asian Language support somewhere. If it's optional from the XP disc it's probably on their website too [but that's just a guess].
  10. You could post a thread in WiP:Other every time you get a new release. The Piston Source guy, hseiken, does that. I also noticed you got some good singles from Binster and Haroon Piracha Maybe I should see if I can get a Reunion release
  11. http://soundtempest.net/soc/mod/oc-tso-wiw.xm http://soundtempest.net/soc/mod/oc-tso-wiw.spc Play the .xm in VLC Media Player or Modplug for optimal non-shitty playback, or BASSMOD for winamp if you got it. It loops! The instrument text says everything. There is also a .spc file for those who wish for novelty. This is Wizards in Winter by TSO. Yeah, that fucking Christmas Light display song. I had to make it a chiptune because it was stuck in my head
  12. Nonono. If you want to learn piano, you cannot have a synth action keyboard. Do you have any actual reason as to why this matters? It's just a preference. I learned to play on all sorts of different kinds of keys. It's still the same layout. There are 7 white keys and 5 black ones, all in the same placement, usually the same size, on every octave of every keyboard in the entire world. One thing I recommend is not getting a keyboard with super huge keys or little tiny keys since, of course, the fingering will have to be different. How heavy the keys are, however, does not affect piano technique. The only thing I can think of that's hammer-action related is the... fast repeating note thing, which works on grand pianos but not uprights.
  13. After reading your description, something occured to me. is this actually an Anime Remix, as in you arranged music from the Naruto soundtrack, or is this just music "inspired by Naruto." Either way, whatever. I'm not a Naruto fan ( ´_ゝ`)
  14. Okay. It sounds robotic, and the whole song is drowning in too much reverb. EDIT: It also starts out identically to your Torvus Clockwork mix.
  15. I'm having a problem with the AdLib emulation. It is super slow! The whole game starts to skip and get like 1 FPS I know most other people don't have this problem, and I really shouldn't. I mean, christ, I have a 3.2 GHz here. I looked all over the vogons forum and couldn't find anything to fix my problem. Even switching the cpu mode to 'dynamic' did very little. I've fiddled around with all the audio options and I'm thinking, maybe it's something outside of the audio configuration that affects the audio. I just tested AdLib with Tyrian2000, and that works fine for some reason, but it's a problem in Epic Pinball, Dark Forces, Wing Commander: Armada, and Dark Seed [so far] Should I post my Dosbox.conf file? I bet one of you sharp young lads can figure this out.
  16. I've never found any Star Trek girls that attractive. nigga what?!?!?
  17. great idea Also, I'll steal this idea for when VGMix comes back up THX Because unlike here, there were a shitload of tunes on VGMix with no reviews. At the very least, there is a reply to every thread in the review forum
  18. Think of all the things you miss when you use Adblock:
  19. Gwilym keeps pointing out these crazy things from The Next Generation which make me want to look for episodes of it and go through the whole series. I used to enjoy Voyager, but I stopped watching it. Why? I can't remember, lol.
  20. Dan's been putting out some bloody awesome songs lately. And they've all been medleys D: He's got another medley you can download here, a brand new Anime Remix. Also good. I usually never enjoy orchestral, but I like what Dan's doing. Keep it up!
  21. porn movies are the solution to everything Also, Shure SM57, or another dynamic mic of similar properties.
  22. iPods can only do mp3, wav, and aiff right? you could give Rockbox a try, which lets you load ogg, mpc, and other things. I wish I could mod my Nomad Jukebox :[ at the bottom of the page I see MIDI [!] .MOD [!!!!!] and .SID support [!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!] is in progress.
  23. I found a fun new epiano! thx I made it all warbly and dark, and started copying a xerxes compotune :]
  24. Sibelius. lulz Both programs now come with optional stuff that circumvents the need to bring it into a DAW like Cubase. I believe one of them comes with Garritan Personal Orchestra, and the other comes with Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra and a Kontakt loader, though I can't remember which ones. They're both pretty freaking fancy, but I'm not comfortable with traditional notation... I prefer hexadecimals now :] What's the point of your question? Did you just need help with proper spelling?
