***ROUND TWELVE*** Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves: No The last chapter in the Fatal Fury games. Visually strong, and it features some smooth controls. However, the gameplay seems a bit of. i can never really tell when a move will connect or not, and some moves just seem utterly useless. It's not that i don't appreciate SNK's style of gameplay, since i've played other fighting game from thesame company and i have no trouble at all with them. This one just doesn't seem to have polished gameplay, which hurts this (fine looking) game. I love the new look they gave Terry though... Skies of Arcadia - Contra: Shattered Soldier - Grand Theft Auto: Vice City: No I can only speak for the PC version, which should be thesame albeit the controls (mouse aiming). And no. Nothing this game has to offer hasen't already been offerd in GTA3. This game does have new additions which DO help the gameplay (buying houses so you can save at more places), but the core of the game is still thesame as GTA3, which had better cars, and a better city (roads and buildings were far more logical.). Shadow of the Colossus - Battle Engine Aquila - Midway Arcade Treasures 1 - Mario Party 5 - Resident Evil 4: yes I'll follow Sephfire on this. I really don't need to give any arguments about this game. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney -
-
Kinda cheap? Yeah, either they tone it down, or remove the ability to charge, because this could become a very cheap way of winning.
-
***ROUND ELEVEN*** Killer 7 - Jet Grind Radio - Devil May Cry 2: No! Illogical, stupid, depressing. I've played it numerous times, but the graphics are a step back from part 1, the gameplay has been toned down, and you absolutely don't need to think to win battles, which WAS the case with part 1 and 3. All you had to do, was step back and fire your guns for half an hour. The story was whacked, and ended in a cliffhanger. Not even half of the quality that the other two parts have. Herdy Gerdy - Kingdom Hearts - Soul Calibur II - Onimusha 3: Demon Siege - Beatmania IIDX 7th Style - Capcom Classics Collection - Ninja Gaiden Black -

***ROUND TEN*** Elite Beat Agents - Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops - Super Mario Sunshine: Yes Like Sephfire said, this is no Mario 64. Nowhere close. But this game offers you a giant playground. A giant fucking playground where you can frolic around in all day long. The water is cool, and the music is smooth and relaxing. Next to Wave Rave Blue Storm, another great game to play when it's hot outside. (Though many people would rather enjoy the weather ). Phantom Dust - Gradius III & IV - Final Fantasy XII - Jak II - Silent Hill 3 - ChuChu Rocket! - Test Drive Le Mans -
-
***ROUND EIGHT*** Alien Front Online - Mars Matrix - Tekken Tag Tournament - Burnout 3: Takedown - God of War - R-Type Final - Capcom vs SNK 2 EO: YES Speaking for the GC version, i think it's a great game, albeit for the controls. But this is the X-box version, of where i heard this problem doesn't exist. Leaving an awesome fighter. A great roster, great characters, lovely music, and some fantastic effects, and alot to choose from. MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf - Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker: no Sadly, the Zelda that started my dislike for the series. Maybe i should play it again with an open mind, but i didn't get into this game for a second. Features like stealth, and taking other weapons seem forced additions that are hardly put to any fun use. The unnessecary sailing killed alot of the fun. Though it must be said that the design of everything was classy. Buildings, people, enemies, brilliant. But the gameplay clinged to much to Ocarina of Time, making an impression that the developers didn't want to change it fearing that it might not be regarded as well as it was in OoT. Same happend to Twilight Princess... Wario Ware Inc.: Mega Party Game$ -
-
***ROUND SEVEN*** AirForce Delta - Powerstone 2: Yes This game is the sequel to the ground breaking first. Though there weren't alot of stages, they were all quite fun. This game is a fucking drag to play by yourself, but get three friends on the couch next to you, and you'll have a blast. Party game quality only rivaled by Smash Brothers Melee. Ace Combat 4 - Ghost in a Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Shadow of Destiny - Doom 3 - Panzer Dragoon Orta - Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem: Yes A Resident Evil Light, this game is much more accessible then the Resident Evil games. By making the gameplay a bit more easy, and the story more compelling then a simple B-horror movie plot, this game can be enjoyed by pretty much everyone looking for a scary time. Viewtiful Joe: Yes Goddamn, when i first played this game, i didn't know what hit me. It was like somebody finally had enough balls to make a game like Double Dragon/Final Fight, but with updated graphics and gameplay. Love it. Everybody should at least TRY it once. Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow: EDIT: Yes, this is one of the best damn Castlevania games out there. It makes horrible use of the touch screen ability, but the adventure itself is fantastic.
-
Well, sorry for thinking that something is a good idea, but i like it. June is overlooked game month?
-
Which actually makes it pretty impressive. Besides, i kinda think it's funny.
-
***ROUND SIX*** Alien Hominid - Grand Theft Auto III: yes I've only played it on the PC, and it's a gem. I doubt the PS2 version is much different. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time: no Console: Playstation 2, Xbox I really thought the combat was dreadful. The prince has so many moves to fight, but most were worthless since the bad guys kept on blocking. The acrobatic parts were a horrible "trail & error" mess. The entire game can be discribed as : combat-puzzle-combat-puzzle-combat-puzzle. Nothing more... Castlevania: Curse of Darkness: no One of the weakest entries in the series, but it had incredible potential. Great FMV's, character design, and decent voice acting. The crafting of items is fantastic, and the combat (however shallow) can be very cool. However, the ugly and repitive level design will bore you. The music is overrated, because the majority is below normal Castlevania standards. The fact that nine out of ten songs don't even match with the enviroments doesn't help at all. Only for Castlevania fans, not for everyone. Halo: no I must have played it for hours and hours, trying to find out what the hell people saw in this crappy title, but i never found it. Lot's of things happen, but i never felt like i was part of it all. In the end, it felt like just some normal shooter. Metal Slug 3 - XIII: no Though it tried some new cool stuff, it failed miserably. The horrible gameplay prevents it from becoming good. Stealth parts were sometimes impossible, depending on luck to get through, and bad guys could sometimes see you before you saw them. Stuff like using people like human shields, and the ability to use pretty much everything as a weapon are cool, but it just is an ordinary shooter. Animal Crossing - Star Fox Adventures - Daytona USA -

But then you wouldn't be able to get a bomb. You'll have to hold X and then press the B button. Unless it's a toggle, it could get a bit tricky.
-
You mean the little piece in Doctor Conners' lab?
-
***ROUND FIVE*** Sonic Adventure: No No. This game has it's periods of fun, but it's outclassed by so many other platformers, that it makes this one obsolete. What's that? Very high speed? Yes indeed, but it isn't as polished as it should've been, and can lead to unexpected deaths. Guilty Gear X2 #Reload - Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy - ICO This is one of the few games i regret not buying when i saw it in the store. After all the things i've heard, i'd recommend it to everyone. Even myself... Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance - MechAssault - SSX 3 - Chibi Robo - Resident Evil: Sadly, a no A great horror trip, awesome graphics, and probably the only game where the characters actually WALK the stairs, instead of floating over a 45 degree slope with their feet going through the floor. A game that will make your asscrack soaking wet due to the sweating. However, the "cluncky" controls aren't for everybody, the fact that you can hardly kill something early in the game (which you shouldn't be able too, and that might be a turn-of for alot of newcomers). Overall, the style of gameplay will not appeal to everyone, so no. New Super Mario Bros.: Yes A simple happy-go-lucky platformer that everybody can play, for young and old. It's a bit easy, but it's fun while it lasts.
-
That's pretty much how i would've done it aswell. It makes alot more sense, and doesn't feel rushed that way.
-
So they are all gonna remix some songs they like? That means that it might be possible that two of them remix thesame song, but eventually, one will get picked. I hope that there will be a way to get a hold of the other songs. I'm curious what all those composers can do with such classic themes.
-
I am aware that Pikmin 2 (might) have acceded the first one, but i never played Pikmin 2, so i wouldn't know any better.
-
Well, look at all the people that responded! Sorry to cause a fuss here. I said that because i don't think you should call something "bad" just because you don't like it. Because if you are better, at least show the maturity to understand that not everybody might be as good. Darkesword: I understand, but even if it is crap, i can't do any better. Crap or not, it's better then i could ever have made, so i defended it.
-
***ROUND FOUR*** Katamari Damacy - Dead or Alive Ultimate - Otogi: Myth of Demons - Pikmin yes! I'm not really sure how to explain this as a dutchman, so i'll just keep it at gaming reasons. Simple gameplay, and it easily captures you. You almost instantly feel compassion for Captain Olimar and his Pikmin. The music and enviroments are selected with such care, it's among the best i've heard. They really fit together. The only downside of the game is the time limit, but it makes you glee when you've JUST made it with a new part, and enterd all the Pikmin in their Unions. Tales of Symphonia Not sure what to say about this one. This list is for everybody, but i don't think this game is. If you like RPG's, or even action games in general, you owe it yourself to play this, but i don't think general gamers can appriciate the time it needs to be completed. This game should be on the list of every self-respecting gamer, but i don't think these type of games are for everyone. Though this is one of the best i've ever played. Brain Age - Lumines - Ikaruga - Street Fighter III: Double Impact - (Where's Third Strike? ) Zero Gunner II -
-
***ROUND THREE*** Crazy Taxi Yes I bought my Dreamcast a year ago. I never played with one before, but i was compelled to buy one after all the stories i heard about it. This was one of the games i bought almost instantanious. And i still play it every now and then. Great fun, great game. Elemental Gimmick Gear - Guitar Hero - Twisted Metal: Black - Conker: Live and Reloaded - Marvel vs. Capcom 2 - Metroid Prime YES!! This game rocks. Fantastic gameplay. I love the way i can just stroll around, blast random things, and suddenly find something by accident. I love it. Great asmophere and music. Terrific. Echoes ain't got shit on this. Skies of Arcadia Legends - Giga Wing - MegaMan Anniversery Collection -
-
"What do you say, John?" "FUCK 'EM!!"
-
***ROUND TWO*** Capcom vs. SNK - Project Justice - Disgaea: Hour of Darkness - Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec - Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny - Beyond Good and Evil - Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind I'd say no. The game itself seemed too crooked to be played. It didn't guide the player into the game for even a second, which would've been nice if you didn't know a damn thing about the game....like me. Mario Power Tennis - Wave Race: Blue Storm YES! Although it was a simple sequel to the first on the N64 (including the horrid graphics from time to time), but the gameplay is freaking realistic, hard to master, but oh so satisfying. Oh, and some great music to boot. Metroid Prime: Hunters - Damn, only two to comment on.
-
The ones i cannot comment on because i didn't play them (enough) are marked with an "-". ***THE FIRST ROUND*** Bangai-O The only game from Treasure that i own and like. Great and simple gameplay. Some levels are unique, and put together with alot of thought. The music could have been a bit better, but the characters, crazy dialogue, and gameplay all make up for it. Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War - Devil May Cry Looking back, it doesn't look all THAT great, but it paved the way for a great sequel (not talking about part 2). And let's not forget that we wouldn't have the present 3-D Castlevania's and God of War(s) thanks to this game. Shenmue II - F-Zero GX Yes. Hell yes. Alot of eye-candy, and some great controls. Fun for newbies, and satisfying after alot of training. And although alot of the music was used in earlier F-Zero games, it still rocks. Advance Wars: Dual Strike I'd say no. The game was just a normal sequel. It tried to incorperate the touch-screen gameplay, but the normal way was just far easier to use. If we're gonna praise an Advance Wars, it should be the original. LocoRoco - Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future - Silent Hill 2 - Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille zur Macht -
-
Well, seeing how many Koreans bit the dust because of the first Starcraft, i'm willing to bet even more will die because of this game.
-
Why is Devil May Cry 2 on the list? Isn't this the list for biggest, baddest games of the last generation? And not the biggest let-downs?
-
Oh snap, forgot some! PS2: Rez Devil May Cry 1 Devil May Cry 3 GBA: Castlevania: Circle of the Moon Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
