  1. Yeah, some of the Japanese players are just insane... I thought I was pretty good at Puyo Puyo, but then I played the 15th Anniversary Collection online and damn... I was destroyed consistantly. These guys just throw out 10+ chains like they are nothing. But for some reason I kill everyone at Tetris.
  2. Whoa, those games STILL haven't gotten a US release? I guess I'm spoiled to see new SNK games here all the time.
  3. Hmm... Phantasy Star (SMS) Phantasy Star (in the GBA Phantasy Star Collection) Sega Ages 2500: Phantasy Star Generation 1 (PS2) Missing the ultra rare Phantasy Star for Megadrive and the Phantasy Star Collection for Saturn. I own both the Saturn and PS1 version of Symphony of the Night, and double versions of a lot of games, like SF3:TS, DOA2, KoF98, SFA3, etc.
  4. Yeah, it looks cool... PC doujin fighter?
  5. Yeah, I really enjoyed it as well. Much better than the first one in terms of gameplay, and loads of fanservice.
  6. When did you travel? That's actually pretty expensive. August is the most expensive time year, and the only time I could ever get back was in August. Cost me about that much. But if you go during the off season and leave from LA I'm sure you can easily find tickets under $700 or so.
  7. Hey, thanks for posting this stuff. I've been looking for some good DS homebrew, especially a paint program. Cheers.
  8. Well, GameFAQs is usually pretty unreliable about these things, but there are some release dates up there: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/wii/data/938149.html
  9. What??? Seriously, I could have put 'I've been too busy making love to my dog' or 'I've been too busy playing my Wii' or whatever, the point was that I've stopped playing Pokemon as much and I noticed a big drop off in the posts here and wondered where everyone went. Don't get your panties in a bunch! I still play my DS more than my PSP, so don't fret. It just so happens that there have been a few good PSP releases of late that have been keeping me busy as far as gaming is concerned.
  10. so is it just me or is this thread dead? I haven't been playing pokemon that much either... been too busy with my PSP these days.
  11. I've been playing After Burner: Black Falcon a lot lately... Maybe I'm biased because I've been an After Burner fan since I was like... 8, but it's a really fun fast paced shooter. People might be turned off because it's basically a rail shooter and there isn't too much variation in the gameplay, but if you like arcade action it can't be beat. I'm having a lot of fun with this one. Gameplay vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHTgOylMoB0
  12. Well, your gunner should be well out of harms way, so I'd agree that light armor would make more sense. Personally I never used a gunner. I just kept Fran on bows which worked well. Yeah, her damage isn't as good, but she has a much faster rate of fire, and the added status effects of the arrows can be very helpful, especially if you have a few to choose from. Ah, but this game has joined the pile of RPGs that I've played RIGHT up just before the final battle/dungeon and quit. I don't know why I always do that. You'd think that after playing a game for 80+ hours or so I'd at least be interested in seeing the ending, but for some reason I never am. I've done this with so many games...
  13. I was never as much of a fan of the AoF games as KoF and the Fatal Fury/RBFF series, but these collections are so well done and such a great value that they really do warrant a purchase by any real 2D fighting fan.
  14. If that's the case, rapidsearch is your friend!
  15. Hmm... you've checked all the import sites? I'm sure a torrent is available, but if you want to get the game legitimately it might be difficult to find a place that imports Japanese PC games. I can keep my eye out at the used game shops... It's probably pretty cheap by now.
  16. If it's Diablo I'm sure they wouldn't abandon the gameplay that made the series so popular, or at least I hope not. They must know their own game franchise well enough.
  17. I dunno, I think Diablo 2's graphics are fantastic as is. Usually you are too busy blasting through the game, but if you take the time to look around the world is incredibly detailed. Anyway, anything Diablo related would make me extremely happy, but I have a feeling Blizzard won't release something that would compete directly with WoW, so a Diablo MMORPG type game might be too much to ask for. Starcraft 2 does seem like a big possibility.
  18. I'm not a big fan of MUGEN myself, but have you guys played the 2ch mugen fighter? Personally I think it's too funny and weird to pass up. Some characters are obviously way better than others, but you guys really should try it. Probably the most fun I've had with a 2D fighter in a while. Pretty well put together, and you'll laugh a few times at least. There's an official download page somewhere, but for the time being this should work: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FB3DSTZ8 Be warned that there is a small amount of nudity within the game, so you might want to avoid playing it in front of your boss if you pick certain characters. Here are some gameplay vids if you want to check it out: Mods, I'm pretty sure all of the characters were made especially for this game, so there shouldn't be any copyright issues with posting this fan game, but delete if you don't feel that way.
  19. oh, okay, I was under the impression you told everyone what pokemon and what moves you were bringing into battle. and while I don't think hacked pokemon will be a big problem, it's easy enough for people without flashcarts to trade for hacked pokemon.
  20. I can see why you'd want the move lists, but personally I think it's pretty lame. It takes out any element of surprise if you teach a Pokemon a move with a TM that is not expected, which I feel can play a big part in the battle. If people hack they can do it well enough not to be detected anyway, aside from teaching pokemon moves they can't normally learn, which should be obvious enough to their opponent (and easily checked if it's not). Knowing exactly what you are going up against takes a lot of the fun out of it, I think.
  21. Then don't complete the pokedex? I think it's a huge pain in the ass and I don't even bother. I just catch the pokemon I like and focus on training my team. Just collecting pokemon is pretty damn boring if you ask me. Oh, and I'm interested in the tourney even though I'll probably get my butt kicked right away.
  22. Well, PSM is an independant publication. I'm not vouching for their accuracy and most of the PSM staff are undoubtedly Playstation fanboys, but having a magazine dedicated to one system or family of systems is a totally different animal than a magazine published BY the company who makes the games. PSM, as well as an exclusively Xbox magazine etc., frequently gives low scores to games and is critical of certain aspects of the systems. It's just makes more sense to buy, say, a PS2 only magazine when the only system you own is a PS2, etc. As for Nintendo Power getting better, maybe it has since I haven't read an issue in about 3 years, but the last one I saw just had a bunch of old news and shameless plugs for crappy games. No thanks! If it came free with a system purchase or something it would be worthwhile, but as something you pay for, that's just silly. LOLOLOL
  23. Um, play something other than Final Fantasy? It seems like you've already played most of them anyway. Try something else. If you are looking for something from the 8 bit era, try Golvellius or Phantasy Star, for the 16-bit era, try Phantasy Star IV, Landstalker, or the underrated classic Illusion of Gaia. 32-bit era, try Alundra, Xenogears, or Final Fantasy Tactics. For more recent games, Disgaea is a must-play, as well as it's sequel.
