It's the third generation Unreal Tournament. That's why...jerkface and to Soma, the last unreal tournament WAS Ut2004... idiot! God you people make me so angry! No wonder I haven't made a remix in like 20 years!!!

I've had 3 for awhile, and am an ardent UT fan, so here's my take. On the whole, it's kind of a disappointing package, mostly due in part to the new philosophy of the game. I read in an interview that the powers-that-be wanted a game where it would take no more than 5 shots with any weapon to kill someone. This, beyond all other things, is the crux of the failing of UT3. The overkill of the weapons completely negates their personality, and makes certain weapons (flak and rocket) the defacto choice. Your lifespan is roughly a minute at best and there is little time or reason to formulate a strategy since the game is all about "any weapon will do" as opposed to "the right weapon for the right situation." Now, if you're smart, you should be thinking to yourself, "Wingless, sounds like you're making alot over nothing." But I'm not. That one "tweak" to the franchise has really broken it down and made it inferior to UT2004. When a mod comes along that either A.) cuts down the power of weapons or B.) increases your damage mitigation, watch how much better and tactical the game becomes. That, and the franchise now feels gutted of content. UT's were always about content practically bursting from the seams from the onset. UT also tried to put out new and innovative gamemodes. Granted, not all of these modes were particularly fun, but they tried, and it added depth and breadth to the game. UT3 is stripped down. Basic skins, bare-bones modes, no real attempts and daring innovation. Sad, really. That having been said, the new unreal engine is really pushing the level design to the extreme. It's a stunning game that makes Gears of War seem somehow dour by comparison. There *has* been some innovative thought put into new weapon alt-fires and the new vehicles are very fun. Warfare mode takes the best elements of CTF and Assault and merges them with the highlight of the franchise, Onslaught. But I suppose the most profound thought and feeling I have about UT3 can be best summed up like this: Unreal Tournament 3 makes me want to play Unreal Tournament 2004 again.

Now, I don't exactly know what "game tester" entails, but I can tell that QA was basically *the* launching pad for careers into other departments for Midway. Less so for Pandemic from what I've seen, but there's so much room for upward and lateral advancement, it's criminal (and enviable, comapared to other departments like Artists who can only go to Senior, then Creative Director, then they're done). QA isn't terrible. Yes, there's crunch involved but it beats the ever fucking shit out of doing anything else on a crunch. QA also affords you the ability to talk directly (or at the very least, indirectly) with the powers-that-be, which is the reason so many in QA advance elsewhere. It's a solid idea. Do you have any leads on where you want to test?

My mind was refined and honed on PC games, which is why I hold so very many of you in contempt. I loathe you OCremix. You need more PC soundtracks FX Fighter Betrayal at Krondor Gabriel Knight King's Quest 7 (whichever one has you as the princess) Diablo Zephyr (really obscure, incredible soundtrack) Silpheed Jazz the Jackrabbit Unreal Max Payne 2 TES: Daggerfall American McGee's Alice (not really a good euphonic soundtrack, but wildly inventive and unusual) Giants: Citizen Kabuto Heroes of Might and Magic 2 (really all the Heroes of M&M, but 2 had music that ranged from haunting to soaring to sweeping to awe-inspiring) Might and Magic, The Mandate of Heaven (the Mandate of Heaven had this one song, snowy wilderness I believe, that was particularly beautiful) Mechwarrior 2 Wing Commander 2 Lands of Lore: the Throne of Chaos aaaand I think I've exhausted myself. Maybe after this next remix I'm working on, I'll be the champion of PC soundtracks. Lord knows YOU ALL aren't doing your part!!!

It really is a shame this isn't game related (what an ironic statement that is, given the book) because this desperately needs to be posted on the front page of *somewhere*. I've listened to it every day since it came out because it's so musically dense and intricate I hear something new everytime. Word. Needs. To. Get. Out.

You know what is the most striking element of this game thus far? Striking in the sense that it caught me off guard. The music. It's this delightful blend of orchestral gravitas, irreverent acoustics, and synthetics hauntingly reminiscent of Disney's 80's vision of the future ala Horizons at Disneyworld. It's surprisingly beautiful and eclectic. I don't have many bold memories of latter-day Marios having excellent music. But Galaxy got that shit all up in yo' ass. Remixers, your time has come again.

Finally had time to sit down and listen to this. It's spectacular. The musical concepts are as varied as they are dynamic. It's like looking into a trillion-faceted diamond. Really amazing stuff. You had mentioned nothing really came of this project. I can think of a thousand personal uses for even the tiniest snippets of this soundtrack. You and I will have to keep in touch, nay?
