  1. I made this orchestral remake of the ruins level (Birabuto kingdom) from the classic gameboy game Super Mario Land. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LgxGAGI8qY
  2. Many years ago my best friend showed me this Power Rangers The Movie game on the Nintendo Gameboy. This particular version has some pretty cool BGMs that I still enjoy today, despite the 8-bitness. One thing I particularly like about this OST is that most tracks have a nice intro and follow a AB scheme if I'm not mistaken. There's some interesting rhythms and effects, not to mention memorable melodies. It isn't easy to get a hold of MIDI files. Here is a YouTube link to a full play through of the game so you can at least hear the music. You'll have to try and ignore the other game sounds. I would like to hear a remix of any of the tracks below. A sound upgrade with more realistic rock instruments would make me very happy indeed. 1. Mine level (starts at around 2:20 in the video) 2. Boss battle (starts at around 6:46) 3. City level (13:41) 4. Mountain level (17:04) 5. Base level (26:20) My absolute favorite would be 5, followed by 1 and then 2. Anyone up for remixing one of these classic tunes?
  3. Since it is now April 21st in Japan (see, proof the Earth isn't flat. fight me!), that means the GameBoy is now 30 years old. It's been a long, fun ride for those of us that kept our GameBoys and games. Speaking of... https://imgur.com/F9L0DwV https://imgur.com/uBfspSV https://imgur.com/TUmtKAT Here's hoping Nintendo gets around to releasing a GameBoy Classic console, in the vein of the NES and SNES Classics.
  4. Hi guys i made this remix a while ago , have a listen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DPm56ZsA8s
  5. Hello fellow musicians and music lovers, I actually managed to complete something for once! Let me share with you this orchestral remake that I did of the classic 1989 tennis game for the good ol' Game Boy. (Link at end of post) From the Soundcloud description: In addition I might add that the track seems a little out of place for a tennis game. The feeling I get from it reminds me of sitting at a desk and finding myself lost in thought. Coming up with a plan or maybe mustering up the courage to finally talk to that cute girl in class. It has a hopeful vibe to it. "I'm going to do this, even if it is challenging!" My orchestral take on it just makes it way more epic! I'm kind of proud of it really. I'm setting this to "Completed" because it is "done" as far my initial intention is concerned. When I do finally get more professional sound material to work with in FL Studio I will consider it a new project when I try to make the transfer to that. Your feedback is still welcome of course. I already know it needs better mixing, dynamics and humanization. Maybe you can tell me what a good alternative would be to the bass alternating octaves at 16th notes. I figure that would be tough to play in real life? I rather not that the speed suffers. Enjoy! https://soundcloud.com/user-227517766/ace-on-me-gameboy-tennis-bgm2-remix Source:
  6. Hey everyone. I recently completed work on a short medley from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening centering around Mabe Village, Inside the Houses and Richard's VIlla. This game has always been near and dear to my heart, so I wanted to put my own take on some of my favorite tunes from the game. I'm using this video as the starting point for a 3 part series of medley arrangements featuring music from Link's Awakening. Hope you guys enjoy this and have a wonderful weekend.
  7. Hey OC Remix folks! We are DrKrake vs Jellyfish. We've been remixing video game music for quite a while (since 2009), but never really felt the itch to submit anything to OC Remix. Instead, we had a short-lived run on Newgrounds and mostly only uploaded our tracks on YouTube on random occasions. For this Christmas, we decided to release all of our stuff in a big free package and did so in the Super Musical Entertainment System! It's a massive collection of 33 tracks spanning various electronic music genres - trance, goa, house, hardstyle, and everything inbetween. You can grab it (for free, of course) on Bandcamp: drkrakevsjellyfish.bandcamp.com Most (but not quite all) tracks are VGM remixes. This Time i recording some individual stuff and i was trying, to bring my ideas in this Remix (then that was the Feedback from the Users on my last Project). 9. I was incredibly surprised to NOT be able to find any remix of this theme whatsoever! Kirby's Dreamland 2: Grass Land Level 1 with Intro
  10. Came across this today! Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru I never knew about this game before, but apparently Nintendo and Intelligent Systems developed this game for Gameboy, and the engine would eventually be reused for Link's Awakening! The graphics are really similar. There's a fan translation patch out for it too. I think I'm gonna try this game out. Link's Awakening is my favorite Zelda game.
  11. hi, this is my first post here and I have been thinking a lot about posting this, since it isn't exactly a straightforward remix of Metroid2. I have always liked the music to the first 3 Metroid games the most, it was abstract, dark and fun. So I started working on my interpretation of how Metroid 2 might sound if it was a movie or maybe a 3d game in todays world. I have worked on this on and off for about 2 years and although it is nearing completion it's not yet entirely finished. To keep the music more in-line with the entire franchise I have added themes from other Metroid games where appropriate, while also adding some themes of my own. comments of whatever kind, be it even harsh criticism, is very welcome. i do hope tho, that you'll enjoy it https://soundcloud.com/mbfb/sets/metroid-2-return-of-samus
  12. Here's a remix I made of a melody from the gameboy game, called Donkey Kong. It's the Desert World theme. Pretty basic but fun practice. Enjoy! Link is below. https://soundcloud.com/tricarnetry/donkey-kong-on-gameboy-desert-theme-remix
