Nekofrog
EDIT: FINAL VERSION SUBMITTED http://metalfrog.org/music/chronotrigger/ctbattle-138.mp3 So there it is. Finalized (until it gets rejected... ). I've eliminated clipping (that I could find), and rebalanced/remixed the orchestral sections (new instruments). I love the dual cello's that replaced the general string section, they sound much more sincere. Also added a guitar related bits and pieces, more subtle than anything else. Rerecorded the clean Schala part with a better-blending tone. We'll find out in a few months. Thanks for everyone's help and suggestions! EDIT: SECOND COMPLETE DRAFT http://metalfrog.org/music/chronotrigger/ctbattlefatigue_seconddraft.mp3 Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. I think this is it. I think it's done. Just need to manage a few clipping issues and BAMMO. I think it is rocking. OLD: EDIT: FIRST COMPLETE DRAFT http://metalfrog.org/music/chronotrigger/ctbatt-firstdraft.mp3 Not happy with how it turned out. Loved how it began, but during its development it kind of became hindered by its own simplicity... probably going to restart it at some point. OLD: EDIT: NEW VERSION http://metalfrog.org/music/chronotrigger/ctbattle-33.mp3 Minor tweaking done - extended it a bit (however the transfer near the end back into the main riff is absent, so overlook that). For some reason that I hadn't noticed before, the orchestral strings didn't mix down in the old version. They're here now. Old: This started out as a non-OC Remix, just a straight cover, but I've decided that I'll eventually work it so that it's not a straight cover. First minute and twenty seconds is almost virtually complete, I don't think it can be much improved. After 1:20 is where the WIP-ness of it kicks in, as I will eventually extend it and get into the real meat of things. Any opinions? http://www.metalfrog.org/music/chronotrigger/Chrono_Trigger_-_Battle_Fatigue.mp3
MadGonzo
this is going the right way, this sure has potential, havnt got any good C&C for you... but im sure as hell liking it, especially the part where schala's theme comes in, beef that out abit more
Nekofrog
Moar comments, everybody loves Chronotrigger! Well, except me that is. Everybody loves the soundtrack! There, that's better.
Choccy
Wow. Pretty nice. I remember that last time I played Chrono Trigger I was wondering when would someone remix the battle music. I can't give you any technical advice because, well, I know near to naught about it, but I like it. It is has a strong, firm feeling, and it is pretty intense, something I love about music. I'll be looking forward to it.
Skummel Maske
Really nice so far. This track has great remixing potential, and a pretty cool bassline. It does halt a bit at 1:20, as you said, though I don't have any suggestions for what to do. Just keep up the good work, and make it an awesome remix! Nekofrog
http://metalfrog.org/music/chronotrigger/ctbattle-33.mp3 Minor tweaking done - extended it a bit (however the transfer near the end back into the main riff is absent, so overlook that). LordPent
Wow I'm glad someone is working on this mix, I'd always sop the battle just to listen to the song... I always wondered why there were not a mix dedicated to this track, it's going really well, so far I like it. Looking foward to listen when it's complete! Good luck and keep up the good work. The Minstrel
Wow, this sounds pretty solid so far. Awesome work. Can't provide any constructive feedback for you I'm afraid, can't think of anything to improve. Finish it and submit, I would love to hear the full version. Argle
Really badass guitars. The offbeat hats seem odd though.
AeroZ
Yeah.. you caught me with the first 4 bars. Sound really good man. Lovely mixing. Really enjoyed at 0.58 when that part comes in. Feels so right. The break at 1.20 feels fine. Was time for something breaking so to speak. Dual guitars at 1.38 - love. Can't wait for this to be posted. Youre almost there mate! Nekofrog
Finished a first completed draft. I'm not happy with how it turned out so I think I'm going to scrap it and start over. We'll see. http://metalfrog.org/music/chronotrigger/ctbatt-firstdraft.mp3
Skye McCloud
I'm not much of a composer, so chances are you can ignore my opinion entirely, but I'll offer it nonetheless as that of a keen listener. Listened through your first draft throughly (Roughly about 5 times), and honestly it sounded solid to me. I noticed a couple things, though, that either just didn't seem natural to me or bothered me: The intro. The first few seconds are awesome, but when the song transitions at 0:06, it feels like it should be longer. Not by much, but perhaps to allow for a bit more build up. Your transition at 1:44 was great, but then changing again at 1:48 it doesn't "feel" right. What you play during those four seconds just ends abruptly with no real change made. It just cuts into what's next in the middle of it, making it feel displaced to me. At 2:46 when you cut into the song's ending, you abruptly end the guitar. This feels like what you did at 1:48, only not as bad. Perhaps let the guitar just fade out over time. Sure, this may extend the guitar along, but letting it fade into the background from, say, 2:46 to 2:49 may fix that. Your call, really. Otherwise, this is a solid remix. I love it. Nekofrog
No new version to put up yet, but just a verbal update: I've started the project over again and it is sounding far better now. The core is essentially the same, but I've rewritten it to flow much better.
Nekofrog
Second Draft complete. I think this is done, just need to work some clipping issues out and BAMMO it's done. http://metalfrog.org/music/chronotrigger/ctbattlefatigue_seconddraft.mp3
Skummel Maske
Something sounds like it stumbled at 3:08, but otherwise everything's great IMO.
XZero
This sounds excellent! I noticed the 3:08 thing, but I don't think it detracts from the song as a whole. Great work.
DraygonZero
Sweet, hope this gets finished and submitted to OCRemix, cuz this is pretty cool. I'm biased though, cuz I love the original battle song, but this mix is really cool. I like the introduction of the Schala song in there, it fits in well. 9.8/
OceansAndrew
Pretty nice stuff, good variations, though it's a bit smooshed at times frequencywise. Nice playing. Ending really sucks though. Even a held out root chord would be better than abruptly ending the track for this song. Good luck with the panel.

SplinterOfChaos
I might only think this because I haven't been here long, but I think the only way this could be rejected is if the guys who judged it really, really hated Chrono Trigger. But not everyone is me. And I love this song. The original composer as well.
Tensei
I might only think this because I haven't been here long, but I think the only way this could be rejected is if the guys who judged it really, really hated Chrono Trigger. Because the judges really base their decision on their opinion of the game that's remixed, not the remix itself, right?
Nekofrog
Here's hoping. Thanks for all the support, everyone
SplinterOfChaos
Because the judges really base their decision on their opinion of the game that's remixed, not the remix itself, right? All the time! That HAS to be why they've rejected me! (Joke. I've never submitted.)
