Neo Samus
Offspring- Gone Away http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Psc7eimMtv0&fmt=18 Sonic CD (US) - Sonic Boom Ending Maybe I'm just crazy, but ever since I heard gone away it always reminded me of Sonic Boom ending theme. Does anyone else notice the similarities??
Binarynova
2. Failed with a capital PH to mention Elec Man Stage and R.E.M. "All The Right Friends" Oh wow that's amazing. I never noticed that before, but now I hear Elec Man every time I hear that.
Brome
I've listened to all the soundtracks on that site, but I think it's a little far-fetched ... If composers use the same chords, then yes, it make be similar Which reminds me of video on Youtube, I found :
WarpstarRider
Here's one I came across while listing to some C64 tunes. Bombo (Commodore 64) - City: (starts around 0:39)Donkey Kong Land (Game Boy) - Construction Site Fight:
KyleJCrb
Why would I use a browser that plays my gifs too slowly (last time I checked, both use a down throttling setup like IE does)? Besides, it has something to do with FireFox 3. Various interactive things simply don't work, like the play buttons on that site, or the newer interactive radar on weather.com. They work fine on the final versions of FireFox 2, so I just downgraded. The MediaWrap plugin fixes it.

A-RoN
Earthbound "Your Name Please" John Reuben "Gather In" (0:11 - 0:16) Bassline sounds very similiar but it's in E and at 1:45 is when it goes to C. You have to listen carefully to the bass player since the bass frequencies in the video are horrid. Great Song though:
The Derrit
This guy TOTALLY stole from Chrono Trigger http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mLfC2kkvPw ok not completely, but its a great song and the bells sound JUST like the ones from the game. so listen to it
TheSnowStorm
I may get laugh for this but I think KOF '98 intro song (the riff) stole the riff to Aerosmith's "Walk this Way" (King of Fighters '98)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORAvMk-iXec (Walk this Way) Also, apparently the reason the song "Singing Mountain" from Chrono Trigger SNES was removed from the game is due to the composer was inspired by "Castle in the Sky" main theme but didn't wanted to be call a thief. So I heard. Singing Mountain: Castle in the Sky Theme: Which is not shocking seeing Chrono Trigger's Zeal Era (forgot what was the actual year) is inspired by that movie. I do believe Micheal Jackson composed the score for Sonic 3 seeing he was a huge Sonic fan.

The Coop
This is offtopic now? Perhaps djp is about to alter this site so that it's no longer about game music, remixing, or music in general. Maybe he's changing it's central theme to sewing, making this thread no longer have any bearing on OCR or its main focus. I mean, that's all I can think of as to why a thread about music would be off topic here.

Drack
Companies sometimes reuse their own music in games of different series. Nintendo is guilty Super Mario Bros. World 3 Map and Legend of Zelda's File Select and Great Fairy Fountain music Capcom is guilty - My friend spotted this when I introduced him to Street Fighter II after he somehow avoided it for all these years! Street Fighter II Character Select and of all things,
Drack
I found some more... This isn't reference or reuse, though. Seems more like stealing. Theme of Super Metroid at :

DJ Crono
I noticed this similarity when this song first came out, and it seems like no one else has mentioned it so..... Chrono Trigger - Magus' Theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhnBUd6R31k N.E.R.D. - LapDance Start at 3:09 on LapDance, and it's super clear. It's a vibraphone playing the magus theme very clearly in the background.

Maybe you're noticing similarities between that and the Requiem theme from Ninja Gaiden?
