Strike911 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Teaser trailer of giant robot foot. http://www.kotaku.com.au/2009/07/is-this-mechwarrior-5/ Official announcement coming very soon about big mech game by the people that own the rights to Mechwarrior now (R.I.P. FASA, never forget). Could be Mechwarrior 5, and that's what people are expecting... largely. ... I don't know about you guys but a good mech sim is what I've been craving for a loooong time now. Sure, Steel Battalion scratched that itch a few years ago, but the novelty was really only in the controller and interface. I still miss the glory days of Mechwarrior 3. The customization was fun, and yeah Armored Core is great in regards to customization, too, but there's something special about the traditional mech sim, cockpit simulations that I sure have missed all these years. And with games like Killzone 2 giving glimpses of what riding in the cockpit of a giant mech could be like with this generation of hardware, it's pretty exciting to imagine what a new Mechwarrior title could be like. I just really hope it isn't something like a Mech Assault announcement (or any other 3rd person titles). EDIT: More videos! http://pc.ign.com/articles/100/1001586p1.html Quote
FireSlash Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Style is more reminiscent of Heavy Gear, but I'd embrace either. Or Starsiege Quote

I loved Mechwarrior 3. The bundle pack of that and Worms: Armageddon was one of the single greatest PC purchases in my younger days. The voiceover narrator in MW3 was ridiculously awesome. Hopefully those vids are signs of good mech days ahead. Quote
Tmansdc Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 They really need to make a Mechassault3 on 360 or ps3. that'd be sweet. Quote
HalcyonSpirit Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I never got to experience the originals, so if this is true I'll be hoping for the chance to finally play it. Quote
OverCoat Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 it's clearly shogo 2 nah actually I'm so fucking nerdy that I can tell it's either an Awesome or an Atlas in that vid Quote
The Coop Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 If this is in fact MechWarrior 5, or a new Mech piloting game in the franchise without the number at the end, I will be a very happy man. Quote
Vyse of Arcadia Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Ooh. This excites me. I need some more mech in my life. Quote
yosefu Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 I've got my fingers crossed that it is the new mechwarrior because i was never able to play them at the time. So pleaze i hope its has a console release. Quote
kupernikus Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Since no one updated, its a reboot of the mechwarrior franchise. http://pc.ign.com/articles/100/1002275p1.html Not bad at all I say. Quote
The Coop Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 I think I just had a mental orgasm. Thank God it's coming to PC. At least now I know I can play it when it comes out. Hope the Madcat/Timberwolf is in it. Quote

relyanCe Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Now all we need is a MechCommander 3 announcement. Quote
Hyperion5182 Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 This company is moving faster than i thought. I knew about Smith and Tinker about a year ago and who was in it. I was wondering what the hell they were working on. Now i know. And i was right all along BOOOYAAAAAH! Quote

Nutritious Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Sweet, another Mechwarrior game. Honestly, I had trouble getting into Mech4, but I was a huge fan of Mechwarrior 2, and a bit less so, 3. Based on the small snipped from the trailer, going to be from the IS perspective again? Part of what I liked so much about 2 was the perspective being from the clans. Quote
Slickzero Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Hope the Madcat/Timberwolf is in it. From my understanding it's supposed to take place just after the 3rd Succession war, around the time Hanse Davion takes control of the Federated Suns. Thus...no clanner mechs/technology. Sorry for your loss Quote
Strike911 Posted July 14, 2009 Author Posted July 14, 2009 In game vid for those that missed it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9VBrPREN4Y&feature=related Quote
